  1. I don't buy from this shop often enough to warrant any difference to their turn over, but from their lack of reply, I definitely wont be buying anything their until this is cleared up We all spend a lot of cash on bikes, not keen on being sold a fake at a genuine or even grey price Good luck Andrew, thanks for heads up
  2. Agree with both points: Louis didn't like TSA getting involved two years ago (similar debacle) and Louis ALWAYS does a good race, all bases covered. Even his intro into Rockman this year was brilliant As usual, TSA tried to use their "clout" to get Louis to buckle to whatever they wanted, and it didn't work. Think TSA need to evaluate what their role is in triathlon...haven't heard a single story in ages where they actually made a positive difference. Sure this sport can continue and get bigger without their involvement to be honest
  3. Sounds strange you cant tension it? Do you have a horizontal drop out at the back? If so then adjust the screws backwards If not, you might have an eccentric BB, then you need to tension the BB with the eccentric arrangement - difficult to explain, but this link may help - pretty generic for all EBB's http://www.adventuretravel.ch/typo3/uploads/media/Anleitung_Kettenjustierung.pdf I don't use the special tools, make do with what ever leverage tools I get my hands on I also had this clicking noise, narrowed it down to one of two things: either I was putting too much torque in on the hills (running 36-18 on 29") or the main connecting chain link was catching every few revolutions as it was a little loose Never had any issues with my SS chain though and elongation, those chains are hardy
  4. Very cool race, the flatness of the MTB route very deceiving when that much mud thrown into. One of the few races I almost DNF'ed! Very well organized I feel, just need wash bay next time As far as Ultras go, this is one of the toughest ones I have done, was a proper test. Next time though: wont be using a single speed Water points well spaced, well demarcated routes throughout, good organization with lifeguards and all post race facilities great Will be back next year
  5. Most certainly worth it if you not getting a tri bike. Aero wise dramatic difference, also just the ability to change position to give different parts of body a rest so you are fresh for the run Would go as far as saying if its your first IM, its a must. Clip ons are relatively cheap in comparison to a new bike. If budget allows, a better saddle is next upgrade to consider with a good bike setup
  6. A little far to travel for short distances, but looks cool. If I am in those parts of town at the time, will see about late entry
  7. Any idea of route profile on the bike? Only have a 29" SS rigid. Anything to compare bike leg to?
  8. Belindas You've obviously entered the race, and done some hill training as you in the south. Its worse than comaro, not as bad as Suikerbos. But you want to finish, so just HTFU, you will finish. Depends on how fast you want to do it Advice? You will hurt, you will be tired, and you will hate it Grit it It'll be the quickest and most testing experience you do. But you will love it Trust me
  9. Ha! Still have your bike nerd...it works a dream! Maybe in a few months we can swop out... Peadar - I can vouch for the GT 29er, its one of my favourite bikes to mess around with, although still getting used to the rigid frame. But the satisfaction of dropping guys on geared bikes on hills is worth it The 26er...rather look for a 29er if you can, much better. EBB/chain tightening and gear changes can be done in less than 5 minutes, and its a solid bike
  10. Heavy days JGR, that is plenty serious enough to cancel any race for. Fingers crossed it isnt anything like that Good luck mate, hope the news is good

    TT-Saddle

Used the Adamo road seat for my tri bike, found it took one or two rides and then was perfect. Didn't try the tri-saddle though, some reckon it wasn't as comfortable as the road one. But I found it great for IM
  12. Entered for the full also as a 70.3 "cool down" and a bit of fun for a change! Next question: who's joining me on a SS??
  13. Cheers thanks!
  14. Hi fellow tri-hubbers Anyone else doing this event next year (30June 2013)? Wouldnt mind any advice on it. Also if anyone is keen on doing joint training sessions during the cold winter months when everyone else is recovering from PE, let me know In am based in JHB
  15. Cheaper is a bowl of smarties at the end of the pool. Eat one each time you pass it and divide by two at the end. Just need to know how many originally Otherwise, just get the 910XT and make your best investment now if you carry on with tri's
  16. First thing: use the tri shorts throughout including swim, they have thin chamios for that reason to swim. Short distance (sprint, olympic and even half) you can use a single piece. For full, go two piece tri suit Wetsuit: toss up and personal preference. I go on water temp, 18 and below definitely. It also helps with bouyancy A LOT! So practice getting out of a suit (use suit-jiuce or similiar lube), if yu quick getting it off, use that to your advantage, otherwise save time not worrying about it Most races excluding the half and full ironman (sea swims) I have done without wetsuit now and its fine Nutrition is a big one...start experimenting now and find something that suits you specifically, its all a personal game there, but vital to have nutrition on olympic and further Transition runs: one of the most important. Start practicing now once a week at least. Do your ride and then come straight off and run 4k HARD to get used to that feeling of transition run, dont leave it till the race Otherwise, tips will stream in, triathletes are always very accommodating with advice!
  17. I had to cancel PE for next year for various reasons, but was left needing a race too. Got an email the other day for IM Klagenfurt (Austria) 30 June, so decided what the hell, and paid my deposit yesterday Most expensive option incl flights/accom excl entry is 25k, cheapest just under 20k If you want more details will send you details, pm me PS was a deal sent through via triangle from club travel in PE Looks like an awesome race, almost identical profile to PE, and a lake swim and flat run
  18. Is it only for fixies/old school delievery bikes or can we play with our single speeds? Looks like an awesome jol, think the DFL would definitely be going my way thanks to my limited city knowledge (thank god for GPS)
  19. Ja ja, didn't think that reply through clearly! Meant to say, instead of doing 6 days, 1rest, taking advantage of feeling strong and trying out 7-8 days in a row until feeling buggered, then resting a day. Seems to be working, but only been doing it for 2 weeks now, so will get back if its working

    Inov-8

Besides Running Inn, is there a spot in CT by any chance - will be there this weekend and have been wanting to get involved with minimalist running to avoid injuries (luckily i just get runners knee at the moment, but its a pain)
  21. Doing 10-12 hrs a week now, but also find the loss of energy. Have changed to training 7 or more days in a week to take advantage of good times, and then dropping a day when I feel run down, get good recovery then. Find that cahnge of diet has helped a lot too with energy and recovery
  22. From only doing one race, can attest that the bunches form quickly and are definitely unavoidable on the return leg...my tact is to try outrun them as best I can, otherwise, sit back and relax :apparently refs are stopping bunches this time and releasing one at a time - want to avoid this if possible and possible overtake them in the confusion I also passed a lot of guys on TT bikes in aero position on the out-leg this year and I was on road bike. I personally wont be using my TT bike this year: Road bike will be faster on the upride Downride will definitely be easier on TT, as well as maybe outrunning the bunches, but not too concerned, just tryin to crack sub 6 hours this time!
  23. Looks like an awesome race! not sure I can make it though, sucks balls, but hoping to do the suncoast the week before
  24. Have an entry available - cant make it anymore - let me know if you keen. Just the entry, no camping option
  25. Did the Sun City one last year, totally legit. Good race, swim in one of the best I have done. Bike is average (bit of wind) but the run is a proper test in the heat. Highly recommend this race, really worth it. Have to skip it this year for Linkin Park (lame)
