  1. Cheers, thanks! Will swop it out for a 16 on the 40k then, no point in being a p*ssy about it. See you on a GT Peace as well, going to be my first race on a rigid - good fun
  2. Also Ssing this, starting in E (half though). But no idea how they would know, I never told them anything about doing it on a SS?? Think it must be pure seeding that you in B group, good luck keeping up! Will mush it out with the general hoard myself What you reckon for ration? Running 32-18 on 29er. Are the hills killer on this race?
  3. Had a mate who was DQ'ed at IM this year on the last lap of the run - 3k from finish - as his spectator brother who was cheering came too close to him in ref's eyes. DQ for pacing. He still crossed the line just in case Luckily after a lot of negotiating main ref overtuned it at 2am. Yet I had several guys drafting me on the bike - even have one of those pictures showing him doing it! Not a ref in sight then...
  4. Great race, well organised like other IM events I have been to. Swim - ja - was a bit messy, but go the deeper sections to actually swim and its fine. T shirt always a bonus! If it can start a little earlier for the heat, they can have my R800 next year again
  5. Benefits are you dont have to pay day license at each on-road triathlon. If you do virtually every tri in the season in Gauteng, it will pay for itself, otherwise, no real benefit to be honest I still take umbrance to having to pay for TSA to sanction an event, I have only ever seen that they piss a lot of people off, and I personally dont like them as a body Otherwise, need to get seperate cycling and running licenses - just check if you do enough races to warrant it Cycling license helpful for seeding in races like Argus etc to be able to start earlier and go faster, recommend it Running not so much benefit-the license itself is cheap and the ASA is good, but I dont do enough road races to warrant the additional costs of having to join a running club as well, which is required Next year I am dropping running license and just paying day license to race
  6. Will see you all there. Going to try the bike on a GT peace SS 29", see if I can make it. I'll be the guy breathing really hard on that long uphill
  7. PS as for different levels: I think they all really the same in the end, I'm no great swimmer, so makes little difference If you think it makes you go faster, it probably will. Otherwise, get a cool colour
  8. Agree with Red Zone - Terry is very accomodating. I bought a Vector3 from himlast year, he sent to me in JHB based on my height etc, and it fitted great. He will even get it changed no problem to make sure it fits well. I havent tried many suits, all I can say is that Xterra is fantastic, very happy with my suit - got extra shoulder room I find so not as much chaffing Terry - 0794824658 or terry@xterrawetsuits.co.za
  9. I am a Garmin whore, so would highly recommened the 910, but its pretty much double your budget. 910XT or 310XT are only true multisport one from Garmin. Polar and Suunto also good multi, but still the Forerunner are tops in my book for usability and value for money If you ok with just run/bike GPS, 610 is awesome, but cannot swim with it!! Its also only a bit more than your budget Hint: mates with Momentum Multiply medicals can organise a nice discount on Garmin :-)

  11. Sure i saw something very similiar at Linden Cycles...
  12. I have swum emmerentia a few times, havent got sick once. Neither have any of the other guys I train with. All you need to do is phone Dabs for their latest water quality readings. In winter in Emmerentia is a bit chilly, but then again, if you doing tri's and eventually ironman, you need to grab a wetsuit and harden the f* up - swim in the afternoon Base 3 is also really nice to swim in, be careful of leeches in the reeds area, but not serious. If only they could get that damn hippo out of Heia...and drop their prices to enter
  13. This is a fast half marathon, dont be surprised if you get a PB here. If you comfortable with a 2hr half, expect to take 10 minutes off your time. Simola: WALK down this hill!! Run vs walk is two days recovery vs a few hours. Dress warm for the morning, but stuff you can throw away - be able to strip down to a vest and shorts. Otherwise, aiming for a sub 2hr again, nothing fancy, going to enjoy this run more than compete
  14. I paddled with Dabs a few years back as well, they seem super chilled about swimming out their area as long as everyone respects eachother. Public dam as well, cant really restirct access, go next door otherwise. Just do it!
  15. Ja, look up..."Think Canoe" Think its anticloskwise swimming so you can sight paddlers going clockwise
