I have to give kudos to these guys, did the 50km race on Sunday at Taroko and what a well organized, fun, and excellent value for money event. R300 for the entry which included a goodie bag with water bottle, socks, and vouchers including a R500 Scicon voucher and 50% bike service voucher. Can definitely recommend.

Does anybody know who still has stock of these frame protection kits in JHB/PTA? Everywhere seems to be sold out. Alternatively if anyone has alternative suggestions of similar quality, I bought a different brand from Sportsmans Warehouse not too long ago which worked well and that was about R1000. I don't want to get the whole thing professionally wrapped, seems a bit of an overkill and its a lot more expensive. Thanks.

Thanks so much for the updates, whihch were thoroughly enjoyed and well done! Its nice to read about it from a neutral participant point of view. Some hair raising stuff and I really don't know how they justify that entrance fee, especialy from an accommodation and basic utlity point of view.

This. Race fever is difficult to resist. Its easy to go all out the first 20km or so, you feel strong and confident and the big tests of that ride are the climbs later on., they will punish you. Its probably going to take you over 5 hours and if you empty your tank early on, you're going to be hating your life. Pace is everything so take it easy and ride in a gear that actually feels too easy. The good thing is there is plenty of support aong the way, find some people with a similar pace and enjoy the day, you're not going to win it so just go out there to have fun and enjoy the scenery and vibe. There are no gels or magic suppplements, get a good nights sleep, stay hydrated and take in electrolytes and food that you are used to. Good luck.

Bike shops are all like people, give them enough time and they will inevitably disappoint you sooner or later. My problem is the inconsistency, one day you get great service and the next day appalling service. I have zero expectations from any bike shops anymore.

I see you can now sync Trainerroad with Zwift, I've only heard good things about TR so I'm keen to give it a try with Zwift. Its not a cheap route considering you have to pay full price for both, keen to hear if you guys think its worth it?

They're definitely driving everything around the banking side. I've also been with them for 15 years and its nowhere near what it was, they're just far more arrogant than ever. Unfortunately the competition isn't much better which puts them in the drivers seat, that and changing your products over is a major hassle.
