  1. The new portal is a complete dog show. Always trying to be fancy and stuff things up. Simpler is better.
  2. Welcome! You've come to the right place, I'm sure you will get all the help you need here, I would stay away from marketplace personally. I'm sure you will find what you're looking for here in the classifieds. In terms of budget used is your only real option, you first want to make sure you know what size to look for based on your inseam and height, I think small but you don't want to make a mistake here. 29inch MTBs are arguably the best and most common now but you will get better bang for your buck with a 26" @RobertWhitehead is very helpful and builds a lot of bikes. He may have something that can work for you on hand, Good luck! Once you find a bike make sure you get a proper bike fit also.
  3. Congrats - been here for 19 of those years. Time flies!
  4. It's quite sad how this once virtually untouched reserve has become so commercialised. Hardly see any animals anymore other than a lunatic bird. The trails themselves are actually well maintained and good fun though.
  5. Geez but these guys are absoutely pathetic. I'm looking for a Neo2 T disc extractor so I can clean up my trainer. I see they have two options on their local site so I query online. Suprisingly I get an email response quite quick saying 'we have any tool extractors in stock'. Great so I ask how I can order one foe the 2T only to be told they meant they DON'T have any tool extractors in stock and I should check with Cycle Lab who are one of their biggest outlets. I check with Cycle Lab who initially don't know what the product is, and then they tell me they'll check if Garmin SA have stock... Kill me now. How Garmin has such bad local representation absolutely blows. My. Mind.
  6. I also found this is 100% the difference, by upping my cadence just 10 rpm higher on my road bike its helped my MTB and road bike fitness.
  7. Ok fair enough, I would look at the difference in pricing with the 34/50 vs 36/52 and decide from there. 34/50 should be fine for those hills, even with a 29 cassette.
  8. It's a fantastic trainer but its not the top of the range Tacx anymore.
  9. How much hill training do you do? Personally I wouldn't worry about crank arm length.
  10. If you can afford a direct trainer then thats the way to go. Takes indor training from being a slog to a pleasure and you'll get real results.
  11. I'm sure you'll be fine, there can be bottlenecks but thats par for the course.
  12. The geometry of an MTB is meant to be upright, the gearing, riding style and the aerodynamics are completely different. MTB is far less efficient. Two different sports as far as I'm concerned.
  13. Thats for sure, I had a 916 GTV 3.0, got a 916 Spider 3.0 at the moment.
  14. Busso for the win!
  15. Still using my my Fenix 3 and can't find a need to upgrade at these prices.
  16. I agree with the indoor trainer suggestion.
  17. The people who really need and can make the most of that bike don't need to pay for it I guess.
  18. Couldn't agree more. Epic waste of money.
  19. Get the best new trainer you can get for your money, probabaly the Core. I've found smart trainers to be a real game changer because of their convenience and lack of logistics. Jump on and ride whenever you want knowing that you're safe and the training is very effective. Even R400 a month for Zwift is value for money if you use it.
  20. Danced around this for months myself, buy a new Titan. You won't regret it. https://www.cyclelab.com/product/1017655-bike-mtb-ds-alu-titan-cypher-rs-ltd-edition?source=google&medium=ppc&campaignid=20298412298&adgroupid=&device=c&keyword=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw65-zBhBkEiwAjrqRMBMhtMR66iOhBqq60yCV9gS8WMSnCpXdfCLqeZeMwsRIwgOa-Y4aYhoCDeoQAvD_BwE
  21. Ok so then I'm XXL too apparently
  22. I got caught twice because of this, definitely have to blame myself but in all fairness if you are a certain size with almost all brands and their equivalent is for an 11 year old midget then their sizing is definitely also an issue. Tried contacting them but they just ignored me. Never and never again.
  23. 350 people subscribe to his drivel. There really is a market for everything.
  24. I must say I was quite surprised by how many riders last year battled with very basic obstacles, maybe they should enforce the seeding rather. Bottlenecks were ridiculous in the heat.
  25. As already mentioned, rather do the 25 km first. You need to have a seeding for longer rides to do the 50 km anyway else you won't be able to enter. Maybe try some of the other rides like the Trailseeker series first to get first hand experience of the rides. Most importantly, have fun.
