  1. Ooh ooh ... two words - Steampunk Bar! Will load pics as I do the designs.
  2. You're looking at around R200 each for either a pen or pencil, chrome or gold plated, without engraving. The guy I use for engraving only does bulk orders so it's going to work out horrendous if you only want one or two items engraved - probably around R200 a shot I've got Rhodesian Teak, Rosewood, Stinkwood, Yellowwood, Kiaat, Walnut, Cherry and Beechwood available - let me know what you think. It will take a day or two to make to your preference.
  3. And if you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
  4. Farted around on the lathe a bit last night. Red ivory twist pen. I might end up doing these only in runs of 25+ units, with laser engraving/branding. I'm busy scaling the rubber band gun side of the biz a bit, they sold like hotcakes over November and December (yeah I know, Christmas gifts, but even if I do a quarter of those sales in a normal month I'd be waxed) so not a lot of time for other stuff. Ran out of stock three times Out of stock now as well, busy making three new models (including a pistol) and doing some experimental shop displays for them - still going to 'distress' stain and stencil them (I think) Seems as if a lot of people bought shitty beds in December, I spent the week between Christmas and New years fixing creaks in at least 15 of them. Not all from the same place or manufacturer ... one guy had a 'Solid Mahogany' bed that turned out to be 80% chipboard, 15% pine and 5% mahogany stain - bought for the bargain price of R17 000 (base and headboard only) Told him to take it back.
  5. x2 please
  6. Unfortunately I've come to realise that old furniture (20 years+) only has sentimental value. A light sand and proper oiling will make it look rather new and spiffy and may raise the selling price a bit. I'd reckon you'd be lucky to get R2000 for it.
  7. Nooit bra, that's the INDEX.
  8. Busy with a bar - should finish up tonight. Once again it's mild steel frame (fortunately painted black this time) with pallet cladding and Rhodesian Teak tops. Drawers made to resemble wine crates, out of pine (with mortice and tenon joints all round)
  9. That spelling is so un-awesome that I'm sure I'd test positive for something after reading that. Lol. Oh yah:
  10. Heat gun strips that gunk of one time Heat gun and putty knife (and lekker thick gloves you can chuck afterwards) But I wouldn't bother.
  11. Thanks for sharing v12, that is insanely beautiful. Does look like Burmese teak.
  12. Myles can you spy the video now?
  13. Bleh Facebook. No idea what's wrong with the embed. It's public, available for sharing etc etc etc. Just click the link

  15. Students - they want their own 'rubber bullets' Maybe I should make a 'strike' placard to promote them at the flea market
  16. My latest piece, busy finishing up the first production run today. Select fire rubber band carbine. Full or semi auto. Takes around 20 rubber bands. You can choose between "pew, pew, pew" and "pewpewpew"
  17. Where did the shipment of meranti come from? My bet's on African Mahogany
  18. Sticks like sh is no good - too elastic in the end. Tried superglue on the bushing/washer, been going strong with the whole office abusing it this morning. Like I said, it's added reinforcement for the MDF part so needs some rigidity. I'll see if it fails later, for now I need to get this thing out to market ... out of the 12 guys in my office I've already sold 30 of them
  19. Think I'll try this one, as suggested. I must say this little side project had me giggling like a kid again when the prototype worked as planned this morning Will post pics and vids once the final product is ready ... should be this week still.
  20. Any advice for bonding something like a washer to 6mm MDF? I've got a small 8mm dowel running between two pieces of 6mm MDF as a shaft/axle, and it needs some reinforcing as there's a fair amount of pressure on the axle. Contact glue? AKFix? Epoxy? (last resort, please, I've got no time for mixing and batching and and and)
  21. It does - Google it
  22. Thanks Kosmo, gonna check it out. Yeah, I got a licenced version of Sketchup 2014 from a mate as a gift (he didn't want it) and been using it for a while. Good enough to do some basic designs, and showing it off to clients is always fun
  23. Starting with this nice Bar (Steel, pallet cladding and Rhodesian Teak top) this week - just got the order
  24. Ping Stretched@Birth ...
