  1. I have some - you only need 1 threaded end on the pipe - so you can convert 1 6m length of pipe into 2 3m clamps with no problem - just cut it in the middle.. but that said, places like builders sell shorter lengths of pipe with 2 threaded ends - but you only need the 1 end threaded - any decent plumber will have a pipe threading kit - I happen to have one despite not being a plumber.... used it for my compressed air setup.
  2. Wives should pay for their own bikes..... I don't see a problem....
  3. The new BMW 310 adventure bike? that looks like it might fit the bill?
  4. That deck is not so critical.... my brothers is about a 30 foot fall - right on the edge of the hill - and the PE west wind hooks under it - so it had to be properly built - few decks have to deal with wind pressure from the bottom trying to throw it over a house - so rotten screw holes were something to be avoided.
  5. Flood the screw holes with sealant before putting the screw in.... let it penetrate a while, then put the screw in = you need to put the screw in almost completely, then remove it, then flood, wait, then screw in to tight - then cover the screw with sealant too - this is a painful process but worth the effort. Best is to use some sacrificial screws to complete the holes first before flooding - use decent deck screws with hex drive holes. My brother seals the underside of his deck a couple of times a year with a garden sprayer that has a modified tip - fits between his planks and bends up again - this deck takes a beating from the sun, rain and PE wind, and it's still in perfect shape - this is mandatory because if it breaks then it's a f..ing long way down.
  6. So far so good - now I am building her a battlestar rebarcreation.... not what I wanted aesthetically, but in the interests of peace.... This is the one I planned on making.... needless to say it now looks nothing like this...
  7. Intention - getting lucky with my wife... - actually her Christmas present Inspiration - a wire sculpture I found a picture of - which happens to be only about 20cm tall.... commissioned by Ralph Lauren by Duncan Sherwood Forbes - mine is about 90cm tall http://cargocollective.com/duncansherwoodforbes/Wire-Sculpture - just scroll down a bit
  8. Not really woodwork, but this was my Christmas project for my wife's office - 6mm round bar is a bugger to bend accurately...
  9. You can try with "washing soda" - mix double strength and use a scrubbing brush - this has worked well for me in the past on varnished garage doors - but does take some of the old varnish off as well. - Pick and Pay stock it.

  15. The only difference is the milk - and it's a very small difference - dont worry too much about it - learn to use your equipment a bit first before you get too specific. If you are using a stovetop steamer for milk - then what are you using for the espresso?
  16. Get a humidity meter and temp guage - there is a legal threshold beyond which you can't work - you add the percentage humidity and temp in C numbers together or some such - and if it's over the threshold then it's unsafe, and a violation of some health and safety provisions - from memory the threshold is 110 - but don't quote me on that. edit - I googled this a bit - found a regulation doc - not sure if it's the latest. “time-weighted average” means the average of a number of representative measurements that are taken over a period of time and that are calculated as follows: Time-Weighted average = x1t1 + x2t2 + x3t3 + …. + xn.tn t1, + t2 + t3 + …. + tn where x1, x2, etc., are the observed measurements during the corresponding periods t1, t2, etc., minutes, and t1, + t2 + t3 + …. + tn is the total time in minutes over which the measurements are taken; “WBGT index” means a number which characterises the thermal conditions in the environment to which that number applies; it is calculated by adding seven tenths of the reading in degrees Celsius obtained with a naturally ventilated wet-bulb thermometer to one fifth of the reading in degrees Celsius obtained with a globe thermometer and adding that sum to one tenth of the reading in degrees Celsius obtained with a dry-bulb thermometer; the index may also be obtained by using an electronically integrating direct-reading instrument which has been designed, built and calibrated for that particular purpose; (4) Where the time-weighted average WBGT index, determined over a period of one hour, exceeds 30 in the environment in which an employee works, the employer of such employee shall - (a) if practicable, take steps to reduce the said index to below 30; or (b) where it is not practicable to reduce the said index to below 30 and where hard manual labour is performed- (i) have every such employee beforehand and thereafter, at intervals not exceeding one year, certified fit to work in such environment by a registered medical practitioner or a registered nurse according to a protocol prescribed by such practitioner, and every such employee shall, if found fit to work in such environment, be issued with a certificate to that effect by such practitioner or nurse; (ii) ensure that every such employee is acclimatised to such working environment before he is required or permitted to work in such environment; (iii) inform every such employee of the need to partake of at least 600 millilitres of water every hour; (iv) train every such employee in the precautions to be taken to avoid heatstroke; and (v) provide the means whereby every such employee can receive prompt first-aid treatment in the event of heatstroke: Provided that, where the question arises as to whether any particular type of work does in fact constitute hard manual labour, the decision of an inspector shall be decisive. 18. Where did you source that? My son would enjoy a project like that - seems that at age 7 he is a believer in Dire Straights mantra.... "money for nothing and chicks for free...." keeps telling me he wants an electric guitar more than his acoustic one... looks like a good father and son project.

  20. Congratulations - bit of a shock to the system I guess... my wife and I gave up after seven years and some test results that showed it wasn't going to happen... guess what... wasn't 6 weeks... and repeated 3 years later again - now 10 and 7. I wish you and your wife all the best - hope it's an uneventful pregnancy for you both.
