  1. Organized suicide.... Google Graeme Hutchinson and you will see they are nuts - they have stretched his leg twice and he is still racing... and removed part of his ankle. That said it is exciting to watch - even on tv it's good but standing next to the track is insane.
  2. You could build a cart with a large drain bottle inside - and you can also do a big bottle based water source - but this requires a secondary pump and accumulator - and a bunch of piping/valves etc
  3. Once you are beyond a certain price point then it largely depends on the features you want and the aesthetics of the machine. Things that are important to me in no particular order are: Rotary pump Aesthetics Cool touch wands Dual boiler Volumetrics PID And if you are not plumbing in water and drain them add water tank size and accessibility and catch tray size. Oh... and you better add SWMBO approval on aesthetics... they are NOT partial to 80lb grinders on the countertop... as I have learned... ????????
  4. volumetrics are fantastic if you are entertaining - as is a 2 group machine... or a 3 group...
  5. 1 group linea has no tank... means plumbing it in... which will need swmbo approval for sure - might cost you a new kitchen or a bunch of alimony.
  6. I think the lelit is a dual boiler and the rocket is a single boiler hx machine - not completely certain on that but worth checking - definately go with the dual boiler at the same price. Neither of them have volumetric controls - that is not mandatory but certainly a nice to have at that price level. Other than the dual boiler (on which I may be wrong from memory) they are much of a muchness - both rotary pumps and e61 heads and PID temp control. So things to check are the dual vs single boiler and the physical dimensions of the 2 devices - also depends which you like the look of. REMEMBER - the grinder is more important than the machine.....
  7. It should make a full lap.... big tanks... Watch this clip - he is pretty good at making the case for the smashing of the Nurbergring record - and he has historically been pretty accurate with other cars. Turn the volume UP.....
  8. They will go sub 5 min before the end of the year with their new hybrid... watch this space....
  9. That is a good deal - you won't struggle to practice on that machine.1
  10. Where did you find those? been looking for them lately.
  11. I have - but you have to be careful with the detergent you use - aluminum parts don't like dishwasher detergent much for repeated use and anodizing can suffer badly.
  12. little bit of dishwasher soap and water and 20 min and it will be clean - Properly clean. Chains actually get a little too clean - and really need to be soaked in paraffin wax or lube afterwards for a while to get the pins properly lubricated again. That said - they are great to have - problem is your mates will all want to borrow it.
  13. Done for photos - was owned by Lamborghini JHB
  14. Was never temperature stable and developed a leak quite quickly - binned it as not useful - rather get an aeropress.
  15. Swiss army helmet....
  16. One of 2 things: 1 - Probably you need to clean the seal inside the grouphead - they get covered in coffee grounds etc 2 - the other thing you may have is that you are getting too much coffee in the basket - and it sticks to the distribution block (coffee swells a bit when you add water) - hard to tell without photos.
  17. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/621361831557296 An oscar... seems like a good deal.
  18. The Oscar does not use the boiler directly for the brew water - the brew water runs in a "pipe" through the water in the boiler which is at a higher temperature than needed for coffee - the brew water starts out cold and then the pump pushes it through the pipe and it heats up to the required temp (with some help from the brewhead as well) the boiler water is only used directly for steam - and 2l is about a comfortable minimum for decent steam - 3l is better - especially when it comes to steaming milk for 2 large lattes in 1 jug - if you are good at steaming, then 2l is just enough, but 3l is definitely enough - NO WAY will you easily steam 900ml of milk in 1 jug using a 2l boiler - but with a big commercial boiler it's a walk in the park (4 - 12l).
  19. Breville Oracle is not available in SA Rocket and grinder - saw one on fb for sale a couple of days ago - no affiliation - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/151958198924098 Home espresso machines have fairly long startup times - so you may want to consider having both a super auto (for wife and when you are in a hurry) and a proper machine for when you have time - I have this at home. As to home roasting.... not worth the trouble if you are not running a decent espresso setup - but there are small easy to use home roasters available in SA - but they are not very flexible in the greater scheme of things - https://capecoffeebeans.co.za/products/gene-cafe-cbr-101-home-coffee-bean-roaster
  20. Next step - fresh coffee... I am currently running The Nerds HolyRoller blend at home - guaranteed fresh
  21. And that is not a work of a lie.... they are super fast at ripping up shins and calves....
  22. Try Foodserve as well if you don't come right.
  23. Mostly at Bara - but work the whole academic circuit as and when needed - been trying to spend less time working lately... ???? - getting too old for this ****... 2 hours sleep a night doesn't work so well anymore.
  24. How do you train a dentist without doing restorative work? Did some dentistry myself the other day on a hubber who broke a crown off... emergency glue back on... broke off yesterday and he swallowed it.... now needs to be retrieved... ???????????? Has held up for longer than I thought it would... must be 3 weeks now - even surprised my old man who is a retired maxillo facial that it worked as a temp fix.
