  1. Stainless Bialetti - at Thrups in illovo - I often use my 6cup to make 2 cups of americano on holiday - but I do have a 2 cup one as well - kids use it as a toy.... they are fairly flexible in use, but I can't say I have ever tried to maximise taste from them. Remember they are espresso cups, not mugs...
  2. Doubt you will feel the difference normally - until you have a big hit.
  3. 140mm Pike.... no question
  4. Nothing I have seen in SA yet - not that I am really searching for it at the moment
  5. It's a Maelkoenig EK43 - not normally used for espresso, but can be - it's BIG..... Happy reading: Edit - old link does not work so well - https://www.baristahustle.com/welcome-matt-perger-com/
  6. I like his trick with the sliding cloths on the drip dray - very slick, as is his use of a canning funnel to break up any clumps in the grind.
  7. You can practice frothing with a drop of dishwashing liquid and water in the jug - much cheaper than milk - don't bother trying to mix the dishwashing soap - just add it and go for it.
  8. Supawood actually
  9. Still to be built - need a few bits still - going 1x11 wide range road group.
  10. Maybe watch some youtube videos of Matt Perger - the aussie ex world champ's technique - he is pretty slick ito efficient technique - as they most all are at that level.
  11. My latest hack - all I discoverd yesterday is that hardboard absorbs spray undercoat like a sponge - so ran out of paint... The other learning point is that 32mm hardboard get HEAVY for big pieces Looks better on the photo than it actually is, but a long way to go.
  12. The LM baskets made for the Strada machine are definately made by VST - some of the others are not - but the non VST baskets are much more forgiving on weight variations - especially when overdosing - the VST baskets don't like that (just my opinion)
  13. Mine have strada laser etched on the side as well as the weights - they are really specific for best results - I am dosing 17g baskets at 18g give or take a fraction. Once you get the weight in the correct range they work well - but a small amount off and they are a bit finnicky
  14. Floor paint first?
  15. Try clearing your palette with soda/sparkling water between shots - minimises taste confusion/contamination between shots I can never seem to get singles right - much easier with double shots. What baskets did that machine come with? VST/Strada or standard ones?
  16. Be warned - over caffeination turns ugly quickly.... sip spit sip spit.... This is the voice of hard experience speaking...... very hard....
  17. and the grinder...?????? looks nice in black - very nice.
  18. Your wife will shoot you - just add an espresso machine to the mix.... and grinder.... Trust me on this....
  19. Between the coffee shop and the bike shop?
  20. Miles that are fun to ride, but don't add value training wise - so depends on you point of view and intentions if they are junk or just riding. If you want to go faster - then junk miles just use time with little or no contribution to going faster... and plenty of people call that training.....
  21. I find that I can cut out the "junk miles" - my trianing has become more efficient time wise - better results - less time. Now to focus on not falling off the bike so much....
  22. Where are you doing the shuttled demo's on the Spruit? or are you bringing the TT bikes?
  23. I want a different prolog and last day's routes - the last day just sucked - and that prolog is getting boring - done it 3 times now - 4 if you count the last stage's overlap
  24. We are also in again for 2017 - entry is done and dusted.
