i know there have been previous posts with some info on baselayers but most is fairly old.

I am looking at no more than R400 for a couple sleeveless summer baselayers. I run hot, so don't need insulation or anything for winter.

Currently the following options are available:

Specialized - R400 - SL Sleeveless Base Layer

    Ciovita - R675 - Strato Undervest (2 pack)

Decathlon - R359 - Van Rysel summer training cycling base layer

    Enjoy - R675 - Emotif Regulator bundle (2 pack)

would appreciate info on which you have/like/tried etc and if there is anything i am missing or some cheaper options.
i would like to go for the Monton layer, as i know the quality is good, but its a stretch to R550.

    thanks

You mention you run hot...what is your reason for wanting a base layer in summer

    Howzit everyone

    Wondering if someone can help.

when splitting a campag 10spd chain for the 1st time, what link can be used to join the chain again?
i believe one cannot re-insert the pin again, so was wondering if there is a quick link available that wil work.

after the below article i'd rather ask for help and avoid a broken chain on the side of the road

I have been splitting and re-using  the same pin many times over o 10&11speed, no problems. Not advised but If you  know how then.....

I think 2002. That could just be a random guess also but somewhere around that time,

No. You are mistaken. Racing over the nek has been stopped many years before I even started in late 90s. I don't recall an Argus going over the Nek at all, even when they finished in Camps Bay

I have done all the detours and all came back via M3.

As a seasoned cyclist myself and one that has done all of these detours, let me educate all of you 😀.

There was 1 detour over ou kaapse and and then Constantianek. After that, they deemed constantianek too dangerous and rather opted to go back up the M3 again. I think we had 2 or 3 of them up the M3. So if they are going to use the detour, then I’m certain it would be that route and not through Constantia.

The actual route itself went from the M3 onto Boyes Drive, as the road leading into Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek was also under maintenance. So basically we went, M3 to Boyes Drive then over Smits around Misty Cliffs and then instead of going left to Chappies, we went straight over Ou Kaapse.

That would definitely be how they do it. Going up red hill and then black hill to Ou Kaapse will just be chaos. They wont do that.

When was constantia nek done? Certainly not the last 25yrs

An extra 2 days for delivery, come on :)

South rims at R8995 per rim, and they're locally made, with lifetime warranty.
cSixx rims are made in Asia like everything else, but price similar to the South.

For everyone's info, here's what a build process looks like:

Day 1: You pay the deposit. I order the parts. You pop your hubs in a PUDO locker.

Day 3: I get the new parts and your hubs and start the build.

Day 5: I pop your wheels in a box, and onto the courier.

Day 7/8: You get your new wheels!

If you choose a GP-based wheelbuilder, I can recommend Michael Maine from Bicycle Supply Chain or Dave Marshall at Spoke and Spanner.

I think your info is incorrect as per Csixx website below. Maybe you pushing for the South products 🤔

I can see why, the performance and ergonomics of their groupsets are not on par with the SRAM or Shimano. I went from Super Record to Ultegra and the difference was immediately noticeable. The R20 000 groupset out performed the R80 000 groupset in almost every single way. The Campag wheel technology is also lagging far behind the rest.

Shooo. bold statements....you should have tried a better mechanic...very few mechanics know campagnolo.🤔

ito Pro tour representation...it's all about the money and sponsorship....the pros have less choice and have to ride what they given (mostly)

Most of the Italian brands have suffered in comparison to all others...groupsets, wheels and framesets

Friend of mine has one, and another friend (also a Hubber) said they could both use the same Varia while riding together. Must be an Ant+ connection then to facilitate that.

This is correct. I bought one and both my wife and I see and hear the functions just fine. Nice thing is if the rider falls off you tend to see the radar lost and know the person dropped.

And they were almost R1200 off normal price from Garmin SA in Dec 👍

I can, but it depends on the quality of the spokes (if it does not need to be replaced), also, whether the spoke count matches the hubs, 20 / 24.

    What make hubs are these....pics

    Greetings to all TheHubbers

Going through all the valuable info here..  advice, comments and everything else needed..

Got quoted on these.... & yes I know an installer will be able to give me what I need to know....but you guys know better😉

    1x TBB RiiO Sun 5kva- S Inverter MPPT 48v

    1x Greenrich GR-UP5000 lithium battery

    1. What are your opinions/experiences on these items - future plans would possibly include solar panels but not fully off grid

    2. What more would I need for connecting to DB Board ( control chargers, fuses, etc) as just a backup system for now

    3. For the future plan - which Solar panels are recommended.

    Thanks in advance

So another spanner in the spokes.....

Got quoted on the Hubble 5.5 battery for R25500 new from a reputable vendor.......any thoughts or real world experiences

@Madone69 You will likely have your DB split between essentials (lights, plugs) and non-essentials (stove, geyser) - this is pretty basic and straightforward to do (or rather: have done). You'll need override switches between DB and inverter (allowing grid feed to inverter, inverter feed to DB etc). Isolator switches between battery and inverter. And that's about it.

Thanks for this....so my bemused face for a 17k connection fee is justified ( DB board is in garage and easily accessible)
