  4. The wind was howling in Hout Bay on Saturday - quite possible. He is lucky - I thought my roof was headed that way at one point.
  5. Horrifying. Look at the other brain-washing nonsense they sell: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2464982 http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2332889
  6. So Cannondale riders have an unfair advantage then?
  7. Alan - well said. Opinions are fine, but they should be based on common sense! Let's imagine this situation - I use Andrew as an example, but it would be the case for any sponsored rider: Andrew is at a mate's house, and his mate has the new XXXX* in his garage. Andrew takes it for a whirl around the block, and somebody takes a pic of Andrew, on a bike that is in competition to the ones he is sponsored to ride, and he is riding without a helmet (it is just around the block!!!), but has a big smile because, obviously, this is a lekker bike and a treat compared to the usual nonsense he rides. They send it off to the folk at XXXX*, who use it in an advertisement. Andrew sees the advertisement, and now has to explain to his sponsors why he is endorsing this brand, and to his clients why they should always wear helmets when he doesn't. Rightly, he institutes legal proceedings... how many folks here would tell him he is being ridiculous/money-grabbing/attention-seeking? *Insert a brand here
  8. Probably not. But Andrew peddles pedals and saddles, and should have asked for permission before using a relatively well-known person in an advertisement for his product. (My understanding is that it was in an advert of sorts, from the newspaper reports, but that might be inaccurate?)
  9. I think it is meant to be leaning up against a couch, not a coach.
  10. ...and the troll gets fatter and fatter!
  11. If you DO have some time on your hands... Refuse to answer anything until they have answered a few questions Start by asking them to confirm their first name Then their surname Then their middle name Then their postal address - make sure you get them to spell one of the easy words three times Then their residential address Then their cell no Eventually they will hang up on you, very confused The longer you can keep them talking, the more money they are losing in potential commission on their next call

  13. Forget it in red - here is the perfect finish: "Oxford scientists have created a transparent form of aluminium by bombarding the metal with the world?s most powerful soft X-ray laser. 'Transparent aluminium' previously only existed in science fiction, featuring in the movie Star Trek IV, but the real material is an exotic new state of matter with implications for planetary science and nuclear fusion." http://www.physorg.com/news167925273.html
  14. WTF!!!!! What are those helmets doing? Don't you know you are meant to have them on your head when you visit Vida? Seth is going to not have a fit!
  15. Of course it gets a whole lot better balanced when Mavic is afforded the opportunity to respond: http://www.velonews.com/article/93240/mavic-responds-to-wheel-collapse-article
  16. Silly idea. Waste of time. Come for a ride in Tokai rather. There is a really cool new bridge over that silly river crossing.
  17. I had such a cool ride in Tokai this afternoon. I rode the new bridge four times on my one trip up the Faerie Garden- just because I wanted to. I was hoping to see a lurking bustforthicckness puking in the bushes, but nothing doing. It did look like somebody had been in some gastric distress - the other end - though, right after the bridge. That wasn't you was it? More seriously - I have been riding in Tokai for 21 (possibly 22) years now - had fun counting back and reminiscing on my ride - and we are so privileged to ride there, and equally privileged to have the likes of Cobus making the riding even better. If you don't like one little bridge, then ride somewhere else on the mountain. Or close your eyes and ignore it. So, who is up for a Tokai ride tomorrow afternoon? Addiction? What addiction?
  18. Thanks Gerhard - this post was not necessary, we are getting on just fine now - but thank you for posting it anyway - now lets get on with watching this zoo we call the hub. It is cheaper than DSTV, yet more entertaining than the Kardashians*, Girls of the Playboy Mansion* and Sunset Tan* combined. * Apparently these are bad. I have never watched them, of course, but a friend of a friend told me they are out there.
