  1. 270w sounds about right to put you at the same level as Marius.
  2. He would only have to weigh around 63kg to have the same P/W as you (Think you are 70kg ?)
  3. You mention riding at 275w as 80% of 20 min power - this would make 20 min power ~340w. In your stats however it appears that you have got FTP set at 340w ? If 20 min power is 340w then it is unlikely that FTP is also 340w - you might want to have a look at this to make sure your levels are right. (Unless you meant 340 was your FTP and not 20 min power) BTW - The Power Tap disc compatible MTB hub is now getting close to a release date for those that might be looking at power on an MTB.
  4. Pedalcare - contact Ricardo on 083 675 2057

  6. Ok guys - the race report is on the blog as well as some other ramblings... Hope it tallies with what you remember..
  7. 5-6 riders works well.
  8. More teams means more attacking racing as riders are sent up the road trying to get moves away. More teams also means more chasing down of those moves as teams will have riders who are designated to this sort of role. Why should an individual rider take the chance of ruining his chances by chasing when others won't help ? With more teams this happens less. Take WCE race as an example - once Andreas had got away then if Arauma carriers were not willing to chase alone then it was game over becasue the individual riders were better off saving their legs and hoping to get a few points in the sprint. If there had been more teams then they would all have sent a few riders to contribute to the chase. It sounds like it's way more exciting. Why aren't there more teams? Good question - it needs a person to organise and get a team together and it also needs riders who are prepared to ride for others (which in my experience is something not many are happy to do) Costs need not be high but commitment and effort are essential. Put one together - you guys would be great.

  10. Thanks Naas - but I am not sure the "positive subbies" should be exposed to the "negative vets" as I would hate to see them go the same way.
  11. I can only assume that you are not racing with us ?? I can tell you that this seasons racing is some of the best I have seen in 6 or seven seasons of SV. The atmosphere is good, there is plenty of racing and attacking, no single dominant team or rider, lots of new faces and very good bunch discipline. Having ridden vets last season - there is no comparison. If you want to experience negative racing then you will find it thriving in that league.
  12. Self selected cadence is almost always the optimum (within reason) so don;t worry about it too much. If you are down at the low end on the climbs you do then maybe consider a compact chainset to get up to ~70+

  14. Hi all Some race power stats from the Durbanville race published on the BikeMaxPower site for those that are interested.
  15. Based in CT but all our services and coaching are online.
  16. You may need to plan a little further in advance - any adaptations from your training will take more than a week to begin to show. I would suggest a 3 month plan might be more realistic. Most of our races are fairly dependent on a decent power at threshold (60 min power) as this is the main determinant of cycling performance, particularly over any rolling terrain or climbs. The zones that will improve this power are what we call tempo or L3 and threshold or L4. Tempo is moderate to hard steady pace (~80-85% MHR) and threshold is very hard (~85-90% MHR) Try and build at least 2 tempo rides over 90 mins into your week along with one threshold session of say, 2 x 15-20 mins with 10 min rest periods (Can do these on a climb) Good luck.
  17. And we will gladly work with your Polar Do please mail me if you would like to discuss or have any questions. peteratbikemaxpower.com BikeMax2008-03-13 05:08:12
  18. Look it up. By the way - have you seen the new updates Ibike have just launched at Interbike in order to cure the vibration problems that so badly affect the products accuracy and repeatability ? (Cost is about R2000 over and above main product)
