  1. I would imagine it has more to do with the blood thinning aspects of the medication than anything. Better absorption of fluids, maybe. I dunno. But it does seem to work. Whenever I've drunk the night before I ride I can generally go longer than when I haven't, and had less sleep. And to mirror Droo - top of Cobra as a kaaaaaak off session works wonders. The sweat is even worse when you've been drinking Cappies though. Or bermudan rum. Yisssus. That 140 proof stuff is lethal! Goslings 140 & Irn Bru. Awesome. And so smooth! Fark. A mate and I polished a full bottle off in one day. Granted, we started at 10, but still. It was a potjie. You can't potjie and NOT drink...
  2. Very, very good response, Nige! Proud to call you a fellow Crimetownian...
  3. Because some other team probably did it to your team, thinking "oh, they have no evidence WE did the same, so nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah..." Do it dude. Either put up or stay by the rules that you signed for when you entered. They're only going after you because: A) You broke the rules B) Someone lodged a complaint C) They have photographic evidence
  4. Yep yep! And you need to do gold for every year thereafter in order to maintain Diamond.
  5. Should be in the region of about R 200 or so, unless you are on a med aid in which case it will be free of charge (unless the doc charges a consultation fee, in which case that will come off your savings or your back pocket) If you're already on Gold for this year then wait till next year. If you stiill need points to reach gold for this year, then do it. Then do it again in Feb / March so you have it sorted for the year.
  6. Nope. This year (2013) the fitness points allocated to each fitness assessment were reduced from a max 15,000 per assessment to 7,500 per assessment. Last year you got 7,500 for just pitching up for the assessment. They're putting a lot more focus on enabling / forcing people to engage and make healthy choices. The inclusion of the VitalityFit app (android / iOS, Blackberry etc) makes it more possible for non gym-goers to log fitness points and get to the annual maxiimum fitness point allowance, which remains at 30,000 (including bonus points) They're essentially trying to get people away from their sedentary lifestyles. Where previously all you had to do was a fitness assessment per year and the screening checks, they're ensuring you actually DO something to improve your health in order to get to where you need to be.
  7. Erm, you don't really sit for DH... Unless it's in the pedally section in PMB. Then you sit. All other times, sitting is like a KKK member having a black great grandfather... Which means, of course, it's frowned upon.
  8. Craig - how we're the climbs on your 34?
  9. Damn. Now I'm even more bummed to have missed it! But my knee would have been shafted. If a 2 hour jonkers session smashed it then this would have been a step too far. Especially when you get the red mist as soon as that beep sounds at the beginning of a stage!
  10. Nope. It was a benefit they ran together for a while. If you had vitality you got the equivalent of (I think) a 1 - 2% reduction in your bond rate by getting cash back into your account or bond. Fnb and discovery canned it cos it was hectically inefficient from their side, and the reward was too big to survive. The guys that got it and kept it have a really really really good deal.
  11. Lol @ cap & Craig. Yeah. My knee would not have coped given its protestations at climbing my stairs at home and the stiffness this morning. Pissed to make missed it but there will be another! Got to spend some quality time with my light ie instead... still bummed!
  12. Yes you can. However, on the rougher trails, your enjoyment will be directly proportional to how smooth you are. And it WILL teach you how to pick your lines and become smoother than a very very smooth thing.
  13. My knee has flared up again. Helluva painful. May just be fatigue, but I don't wanna chance it...
  14. The cost is for the test otself, mikkelz. Something you should arguably be doing every year anyway...
  15. Depending on which version of the HIV test they do, it could cost up to R250. If you're on discovery health it will go through your med aid.
  16. Yep. Pretty much that easy. My practice is centred around getting clients to gold and keeping them there. It's a bit more difficult relative to last year, but not by much. Gimme a shout if you wanna chat more...
  17. If you look at it, by the time he gets to the bulkhead his head is right down by the bars. So he crouched. And a bloke crouching on a BMX is much shorter than a regular sized oke standing up...

  19. AWESOME. Winning except when you try to smartass your way into her good books after that pack of windies... And yeah - just like i'm trying to do. 34 / 11-36. Fark. Me.
