  1. Except when the wind picks up. Farkit, that's horrible! Cycling back to S/Subs in that funneling is NOT fun.
  2. Just the red white n blue for me, thanks! R 7.99 vs R 14 / R 15 for the "whitening" version. Fark.
  3. Dude, life cover even pays out on suicide... (plus it's my profession, life insurance and investment)
  4. I'd have had to change at least 3 times after that...
  5. Oh hell yes. Used to commute Wynberg to Loop Street a few years back. FAR preferred rush hour to mid-day.
  6. Okay - to clarify my "better grip" assertion above, it's NOT the case on hardpack. They will squirm more than the contis thanks to the bigger lugs. But in the cape, on our trails, Minion is cool. And if you're thinking of getting one, the UST version is the one to get when comparing with the Protection of the Contis. Fatter sidewalls than the non-UST version, therefore more puncture resistant.
  7. DHF = DownHill Front DHR = Downhill Rear It is a downhill tire, but many people run them on their trail bikes due to their IMMENSE amounts of grip. They will be heavier than the continentals, but they will also offer better grip due to their more aggressive lugs and softer compound (if you go with the 3C version) It is a hugely popular tire, for a very good reason. No reason why you can't put them on your Trek Fuel. Would improve it, actually!
  8. Only really true of Short Term insurance, when it comes to doing things like breaking the speed limit (if it's proven) or driving drunk. Med Aid / Life insurance only generally doesn't pay if the injury / illness etc is self inflicted. Cycling on a freeway wouldn't be one of those things that are categorized as "self inflicted" ITO Disability insurance, the majority of providers have removed the "in the process of performing an illegal act" thing from their policy documents as an exclusion.
  9. in short: This: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v116/emilysdad/RebaJune006.jpg Not this: http://www.bikeavenue.de/b2c/bilder/produkte/gross/Rock-Shox-Reba-RLT-tapered-29er-black-100mm-29-Zoll-ThruAxle-2013-PushLoc.jpg
  10. Yeah - you want the one with the Turnkey compression adjust, not remote lockout. That way you can change your compression settings on the fork itself, instead of having unlock / lock, as well as being able to lock it out by turning the compression all the way up.
  11. Either way is good. RLT is the way I'd go, just 'cos it offers you the additional tuning of the wastegate / blow-off valve, which you can adjust to change when the lockout is over-ridden (saves the fork if you hit something and have forgotten to unlock it)
  12. Good choice. Which REBA you going for, if I may ask? RL? RLT? RLT Ti?
  13. One of my favourite movies... Nick Hendricks: Are you a business man? Dean 'MF' Jones: Yeah. <MuthaFkr> Jones. Nick Hendricks: How's that? Dean 'MF' Jones: <Muthafkr> Jones. Dale Arbus: Your first name is <Muthafkr?>?! Dean 'MF' Jones: Last name Jones. You got a problem with that?
  14. They have a tag on their hands (like a mini fob / USB) that they literally have to touch to the sensor (like those old car immobilisers that you fiddle with trying to find the &%&^%%$@! hole!) IMO the proximity sensor of the trailtag would still be a better option as you don't have to stop to tag in / out. BUT - the watch strap thing could be more powerful so that you can go past the "end stage" reader at speed without having to run back 50m to re-scan the (*&^(*ing thing (yes, I had to do that. Second time it didn't read I endo'd 1m past the gate and went OTB in an attempt to get my arm close enough to the reader)
  15. WOOOOOOOHOOOOO! Your wife should understand when you point to the couch and say "sleep there tonight" while holding on to the frame like a crack starved whore...
  16. All boils down to geometry, mate. If the effective top tube and reach are the same in both bikes, then you have your answer. Me - I'm a large at 1.82m. Large Giant Reign X. Large Ibis Mojo (borrowed from a mate) and a Large Mojo HDR 650 (mate's bike) - all around the same geometry & numbers.
  17. For the same level of tech / performance in the FOX, you'll pay on average 25-50% more than you would pay for a RS fork. Plus, I don't like their CTD settings - takes all the fun out of being able to set everything yourself. Ont eh SID vs REBA - go for the REBA. Same fork, just more solid. The weight saving on the SID seems to go a little too far and offers a harsher ride than the Reba. Reba is also cheaper!
  18. That looks SUSPICIOUSLY like Nic Criticos in the first few seconds!? EDIT: But it's not...
  19. That's the thing with speed. Turns the smallest thing into a huck-fest
