  1. I made one out of an old wetsuit. Works perfectly. Its more for those really really muddy + wet rides when your tire flings dirt forward and you ride into it (dirt in the mouth, eyes and face) - this stops it in its tracks, so that the only water / mud that gets thrown forward is thrown on a flat trajectory and straight back into the trail ahead. The crud catchers are also indespensible. Catches anything thrown up towards your body. I don't mind a wet ride, but I despise dirt ridden teeth and a wet crotch.
  2. LOL. What are you Hmmmmm-ing at, JB? The cost factor, or the potential unbalanced rim? Cost would only be a factor in that it would be more economical to get a new, undamaged rim than to repair this one again and again and again. Because it will fail again. The unbalanced rim - yes, if the weld is good, the rim will be balanced. BUT - it will still happen again. And if the weld is bad, then it could create more problems than it solves... What's your take?
  3. ask Omega Man about his trip to France and his Hopes. Only brakes out of his group that didn't have to be bled over the 2 week period. Only TWO weeks!? I hear you ask? Think on this - 50 plus km of DH riding per day. Not counting the shuttles / lifts to the top. For 12 / 13 days. That's a LOT of high level braking. Plus, they look PIMP.
  4. Worrying indeed, Martin. Gladly the D3 and BOS shock were left behind (must have been disturbed) but the fact is they targeted BIKE SPECIFIC items. That smacks of a high end theft ring, targeting bikes. The question is - for who?
  5. Fark dude! Muthrfkin bastard son of b1tch c0cksucking bastards! Duuuuude! No. Just - no. No. Sooo chuffed your wife is okay. She must be shattered. I know my wife was when we got broken into. Faaaaaark! No. No.
  6. me too please.. Plan on riding a few times this week, but working Thursday / Friday so only tomorrow, wednesday & the weekend that I can ride...
  7. absolutely dude. Just don't be a tard and ride after dark. Then it's not AS safe, and you should ride in a group. Otherwise - ride on, brutha!
  8. I'm now in the minority with a 26" 150-170mm dual susser...
  9. Nought dude, that looks freakin awesome. Job well done!
  10. Nope. If they were already bare, then yeah. But I'm not going to take existing stickers off when they're perfectly acceptable, just for the sake of aesthetics.
  11. Yeha, the HD's 2.35 is the same as a Maxxis 2.5 and in many cases is actually bigger. And agreed on the too much tire for the back. Want to be able to slide it in if i need to, and the HD's grip will prevent that (and rip the trail if I manage to)
  12. You could have it repaired, but it would probably be more expensive than getting a new rim and transplanting all the bits. Reason - extra material at rip point = unbalanced rim = affected ride Very difficult (and expensive) to weld aluminium, especially given that profile. If one of them has gone like that, the rest will surely follow. Bite the bullet and get a new one. Alternatively, if you have good insurance you could claim against it for the cost of a replacement rim. Not what you wanted to hear, but it's like that, and that's the way it is.
  13. YAAAAAAY!!! Although - my next set of tires may be a Hans Dampf / Nobby Nic combo...
  14. I LUFF it when you talk foreign! Awesome build, Yumeya.
  15. Import via crc. And I have it on v v v good authority that WTB won't be distributed here anymore - lack of sales. It's a pity, 'cos they have some VERY VERY good tires.
  16. I'm also happy with how the black fork works with the bike. Thought it may "clash" and that the lyrik that I (eventually) get would have to be white to "balance" it out. But looking at it, the bike looks great with the black revelation, so it's not that much of a hassle if I can only get a black fork. Really, really happy with it.
  17. I'm gonna go sulk now. You hurt my feeling. ROFL. Nah, just taking the piss. THey're damn comfortable though
  18. What he said. Awesome finish dude. Protect it yesterday!
  19. ROFL. No, you douche. The flats on the cranks aka pedals aka shin-diggers.
  20. Yeah, for now. My shoes self destructed the other day (carbon sole disintegrated round the SPD mounting plate) and I was left with a useless shoe. I already have skate shoes from my days as an EMO wannabe (also dabbled - and failed - at skating) which I'll be reinforcing with a bit of perspex & re-soling at Wynberg Sole to get the stealth rubber fitted to them. It was that, or get a set of Minnaars and Mallett DH's. The flats won out due to pure economic sensibility. Plus, my bank manager called quits on any more bike expenditure this year. Meh. Also - it'll teach me to ride proper like.
  21. Nought dude, those stay on. Resale value 'n all. I need to sell the fork eventually. But shot bro. Just battling to get the rear seated properly. The bead is a bit loose (far looser than the front, in fact) and it's proving a bit harder than expected. Gonna have to make another turn round to the garage to blast the mofo. Front is seated perfectly, and set at 20psi for now.
  22. aaaaaand..... tuh daaaaaaaaaaah! Still need to go around to the garage to blast the wheels with their initial air, and pop by Epic for some sealant. But all done & built & sparkly new! I must say - she looks superb with these wheels.
  23. Not done - bike is at a mate's place, and I was too trashed to ride it home. Picking it up tonight, but final build pic should should should be here tomorrow. EDIT: The bike still has FLOWTA's wheelset on it at the moment, and i still need to do the final adjustments on the "new" wheels.
