  1. DAMN! BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!
  2. personally, I'd build. But that's just me. I'm currently building my next bike, after buying / selling a couple more that I had. Got the frame I want as a second hand item (some VEEEERY good deals on here and elsewhere, and don't worry about warrantees - insurance will pay on breakages 99% of the time, depending on insurer) and then with CWC & Chain Reaction Cycles / Probikeshop.com / Superstar components / Merlin cycles offering fantastic deals on the web, it's a lekker time to build exactly the bike YOU want.
  3. good enough reason to be not all here, mentally speaking of course...
  4. She said they'll tame her storms! You know, Silverback? No? Oh - all right. You're on the 650 wagon. I forgot!
  5. More to the point - where did you get them in greeeeeen!?
  6. yep. techno lime green hubs. Then green or black grips. Got grippies, so green and black on a white bar may be stretching it a bit
  7. KS do... Check out their i900 dropper! I think it's only the 100mm version though. And the best thing? They're available locally for just R 2k.... Otherwise - gravity dropper or the X fusion hi-lo, i think.
  8. Picked this up today.... (sorry for the crapberry pics) And here she is partly built up. Just need the hubs to come through from Superstar (need to order them still) and ideally I'd like a Lyrik up front, but that will take time. Saddle is just a preliminary option (stolen from my wife's bike) and the grips need replacing. Otherwise, spec: Giant Reign X 2010 (6.7" / 170mm Maestro suspension goodness) FOX DHX 5 Air shock Revelation TEAM fork SRAM X0 Redwin Red & grippies Brave Monster 760mm bar (15mm rise) Kore B1B 35mm stem Elixir 5 brakeset Goodridge Cable kit for shifters SHUN crankset & Truvativ bash / chain guide Spank Subrosa wheels on Superstar Tech Evo hubs (32h)
  9. May not be able to make it after all... Wifey has 2 photoshoots booked, and if the outlaws (her folks) aren't here yet then I need to look after the Little Mayhem...
  10. Don't think that's going to be an issue with the majority of high-end bikes having to have extra weight added to them in order to comply with min weight restrictions. And its not as if the weight is in a bad place, right down below the COG
  11. Coke is the cheapest and easiest. The sugar content in that stuff is crazy good at removing rust and blemishes from metal. Put in glass of coke (full fat version) and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Crazy.
  12. Must be honest, I thought of Home Brew before homegrown!
  13. As per the link, for Shimano it's top swing dual pull FD, Direct Mount
  14. ROFL. Nah, it was waaaaay before that. In my pre-marriage days. But you've just reminded me where I want to take the Mrs for her first overseas holiday (cos botswana & mauritius don't count)
  15. Dude, that looks super sweet. Keep it as is. No funky colours, just perhaps a few accent pinstripes or something. Just on the top tube / head tube area. Nothing more. And matt black decals for the name. Something like "Homegrown" or similar. Let the carbon speak for itself. Every time you see the weave, you'll remember that YOU built this single.
  16. I've had that happen to me before.... Chain skipped on the chainring, got caught between the frame and the small ring, which meant that the cranks were jammed at the 3 o'clock & 9 o'clock positions. I was still pedalling. Cue ejection, as the downward force that WAS being put on the pedals was redirected in to an upward force on me. It was quite... poetic. I landed on the tar, and slid 3m to stop at the toes of an on-duty policeman on pointsman duty.
  17. Google generally helps dude... http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/archive/2010/epic/epiccompcarbon#specs (carbon) http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/archive/2010/epic/epicexpert#specs (alu)
