1. dude, that sucks! When we (colleagues and I) went to Jozi for a work conference, we brought our mascot back. He's a 1.25m tall, black, fibreglass gorilla called Geoffrey. We saw him being loaded onto the plane, and then some t0sser decides "no, I really don't want to be on this plane, I should really go back to the check-in gate and take a car" so all the luggage had to be unpacked & repacked, while we were stuck on the plane. Guess who got left on the causeway. Yes - Geoffrey, all by himself. That was with Kulula. So yes, if a big, black, fibreglass Gorilla with a white tank top with "Geoffrey" printed on it, can have a few problems, I can see it happening with a bike box.
2. collectively - it's our pleasure. Thanks for the bands, once again. Doesn't come off!
3. Looks like a nice, entry-level DS... Can't say anything bad about it, and the thing is - if you're just starting out offroad, nothing wrong with it. When you start progressing to the bigger drop-offs (like more than 1m high) then that's the time to start looking at upgrading. But for general XC use and single-track punishment, why not? I have the same brakes - I'm 95kg and they're MORE than adequate for me) SRAM X5 is bullet-proof, I've got the same rims (no problem yet)... You can always upgrade later, when you get more profficient etc. And if the price is right, go for it...
4. hahaha whatever you say!!! p.s. go look at bianchi.com makes for better viewing!!! lpeens cant wait to see finished product!!! oooo yes... saw one or 2 at the Epic, and then one in for a service at Revo Cycles in CPT... lovely beasties they are! Wouldn't mind a road Bianchi either... Prefer a Pinarello, but beggars, choosers, ya know.
5. DOing Tokai after the voting is done... Just a chilled ride, taking my other half along so taking it easy... Might see you there...
6. you don't want to HEAR it either! anyway... off to look for some porn... (www.feltbicycles.com this time)
7. Those Whasp energy bottles ROCK! Used one in the Argus, and worked like a dream. Just rinse it out when you get home, and no mess!
8. Yeah, i know! Just have to dodge the chunda that Busta boy's let all over Tokai... Damn, that boy has alot of spew!
9. yeah - the bike's gorgeous. Plus, haven't ridden my Fuji for the past 2 months... my MTB's been getting all the love recently.
10. Blatant, blatant, blatant. Absolutely friggin disGUSting! There was definitely backwards pressure on Impey's shoulder... Lifetime ban from me...
11. i made a mess just looking at it. Wouldn't want to think what I'd do if i touched it.... And I'd DEFINITELY swop my Fuji for that baby...
12. Hey rookie crawl back under your rock and keep quiet!! NO' date=' not in your lifetime poser...[/quote'] Эй трахните Вас голова dick. Кто трахание, Вы должны приехать, называет меня проблемой? lets leave this chop alone dude its not worth our effort!!!! looks like he's more little chicken worsie than chop, turtlek... At least a chop has flavour!
13. Argh! Another troll joins the bridge-brigade...
14. BTS man, theres a wildcard that costs R230 per year (or around there), that gives you unlimited visits to all parks in the WC, and one for R250 that gives you unlimited countrywide access... You're talking about the ones that cost R 60 for 12 visits, right? But yeah - i aggree and disaggree on this issue... while we have to look after the trails in affected areas, and make sure they aren't whittled away like some old redneck's peice of yellow-wood, we also need to make sure that the trails are technically challenging for ALL individuals, and we all have the chance of improving our skills. Unfortunately there is no "one size fits all" answer to this problem, but if you can't ride a certain section, be it 1m or 1000m in length, try do it until you can. At the end, you'll have immense amounts of satisfaction in having beaten the track, as well as having progressed in your skill levels so you can now move on to more challenging areas while really HITTING that section you've owned.
15. it'd be a shame not to name him... go on guy, the classifieds on this site are built on a foundation of trust, and if some k-nob is giving the rest of us a bad name, we deserve to know about it so we don't get shafted as well. Otherwise we're just going to hear the negs, and in the end the Classifieds is going to be a cess-pit of nobjockeys who are looking for quick bucks by selling sub-standard shaite that should be relegated to the scrap-heap. Name and shame!
16. I like coming pip... it's part of the progression, and will only drive me harder to get better so that next time I won't fall. It's also all about perception (as someone else said) if you think you're going to fall, you're going to fall. If you think "oh crudbuckets! I hope i make this!" chances are, you're less likely to go down like a Russian hooker in tourist season. Me, I'm all for MTB. So is my girlfriend. She feels safer (even though she's fallen a few times) because of the lack of cars, and she is in control of her own actions - not worrying about someone else's all the time. Our road bikes have been hanging since the Argus - not ridden once. We've been to Tokai 2 to 3 times a week since then, and we've been getting better ever since. And a ride isn't a ride until you've fallen at least once.
17. Keep it for now - watch it rot in winter, and laugh at the people falling off due to moss & mould growth... Then we'll get the trail back. Saying that, I agree with you BTS... I can think of at least a couple of times where I stayed at one section for about 30 mins to an hour trying to have a look at the trail, and get teh best route or me (at that stage) We're there to improve our skills, and have fun at the same time. If I can't go down something I'm afraid of tackling due to the route being changed, I won't overcome that fear, and won't progress in terms of my technical skills. Anyway, if I can ride that section at 7pm in winter, with a Topeak 3LED front light (1/4 candlepower or some such power) and make it out, so can anyone else. Handle it!
18. See ya guys tomorrow! No orange shirt, but will look for the orange-ness on course... Sean, in your article in the Mercury this am, the "program" didn't show any DH activity... I trust it was incorrectum?
19. I was there on Sunday watching the DH - awesome!! It was very hot!!! They had some coke and fanta stalls at the bottom but did not see anything on the course. I suggest bring a rucksack stuffed with refreshments' date=' a low chair to park on, a hat, sunblock and a stout pair of walking shoes. These is a Spur in the Cascades Centre some 200m away and I suggest we all meet there at an arranged time wearing something orange.[/quote']Spur schmur! Coffeeberries is the place to meet, eat and be seen in this centre. Best coffee and food and it's got full Burry/Greg endorsement too. pffffffffft...are they licensed? I second Holy's motion...
20. schweet dbl swingarm! looks like it could bust quite a few moves for me!
21. Im gona be cruising around on my XC Unicycle and wearing a TREAD t-shirt, I dont think you'll be able to miss it Haha!! Probably be wearing my black Adidas shirt loaded with smily faces, and a Livestrong band on my arm... Anyone know if we can take beer onto the course? Or is there a shop/canteen on route?
22. SCHWEET! Can't wait to get there on Saturday... leaving the GF at home (her parents place) while I go up there to get a bit of the action. Planning on spending the whole day there, seeing all the action. Who's going to be there, and how to Identify?
23. Schweet bike you got there, Crow... can just imagine how smooth it must be on the bigger stuff, and how it'll just melt over the jumps and rocks in it's path. Many happy miles, and I might see you in Tokai some time...
24. SHOT Sean... Was really confusing on the official site... Sorted now.
