  1. okay - stupid question time... When do the practice runs actually start? Are they all week, or just on Friday before the Qualifying rounds. Planning on going up on Thursday, but on the site all it says is "Rider Confirmation" and "Timed Training"
  2. gonna be there - don't know whch day, but I'll be there...
  3. same here - chicken pita wif loads of veg... And a protein shake. Was a 2 hour suffer-fest in Tokai, after all.
  4. Commuted in London for 3 1/2 years and am just about to start again over here in CT. Shower's being fixed at work, so as soon as that's done I'm in there...
  5. Edge without the red thingamies. TAKE THEM OFF! TAKE THEM OFF! it is NCD, after all...
  6. steeeeeak! Gotta love it. But I have to aggree with the boerie roll idea. Works wonders. Looks like you need mroe sleep as well though... Hell, looks like I've just copied everyone else's suggestions, doesn't it?
  7. which is..... exactly what the TDF would be like if Joe Average could enter??! I don't see your logic...
  8. The Blackburn Delphi 6 does all of that, includes HR, wireless cadence & speed functions (and the shpongles to make them work), together with downloadability as well. All for around R1,200 depending on where you go. I'm going to get myself one of those shortly. It's bike specific though... the only drawback. cptmayhem2009-03-27 13:30:12
  9. mask challenge? Sorry my bad MAST No - its the Jim Carrey lookalike contest they're holding in Tokai at the moment. Haven't you seen all the media trucks there?
  10. I can also vouch for Speedi on the selling side. Very quick, stuff was here no problem. not done much buying/selling yet apart from the one with Speedi though.
  11. I've just upgraded to disks. Man oh man, is the difference noticeable. Okay, I had budget v's before, but I've got budget disks now. No more fade (not as much, anyway) and so much easier to moderate the braking pressure. I'm happy to say, disks all the way!
  12. Heh! Seems as if the Hub now has a resident spell-checker and/or grammar-slammer. Keep up the good work jaggers. Who knows? Maybe the masses will start to pay attention to what they're writing. Wait. No. Where are we again? No - that'll never happen. kepe upp tha gud werk
  13. wasn't me - i'm one of them that has a candle with an identity crisis...
  14. What law would that be? I agree with linnega on this. a Bycicle is a vehicle in terms of the National Road Traffic Act' date=' 93 of 1996. The same rules apply for you as for any other vehicle. [/quote'] the one that WILL be coming into force soon (hopefully) mistake, I admit... Sorry if my tone sounded condescending. It was not meant that way. It just irritates me to see cyclists behave like there is different rules them than for other road users. no need to apologise mate - i thought it was a law, but i was wrong. End of. I for one am not one of those ba$tards who tells other ppl to pi$$ off when they hoot / gesticulate etc... just carry on my own merry way, and try to keep visible. Even if i do ride aggressively on the road, doesn't mean I don't take a f*&K you! attitude at the same time. Commuting on the roads of London taught me alot - it's worse over there than it is here, believe me. One thing it taught me - take care of yourself first. And that means making yourself visible, being courteous to other road users, and not hesitating when there is that gap that you have to take. Treat the road as if you were in your car. Don't jump reds or stop streets simpy because there "isn't anyone there" It has beeen said before. Numerous times...

  16. The law allows for between 1 and 1.5m between the kerb and the traffic. I know it's not much, but it's there. Just be vigilant at all times, and ride aggressively - not defensively. I don't mean shouting and swearing at every single motorist, or blowing your top when you get hooted at... I just mean that you have to make your own room, and make sure the guys see you, and appreciate the fact that you're smaller. Indicate, and say thankyou...
  17. sorted - I'm getting the Felt, the missus is getting the Avalanche. Agents have no more Large Avalanches, only Small, hence decision. I also prefer the frame of the Felt - looks prettier to me, and I can always upgrade from there... Just priced a full SRAM x9 conversion (front, rear and shifters), with FSA cranks (External BB included), braided hoses, new 9 speed SRAM cassette & chain from CRC - comes in at R3800 ex VAT... Dollar signs ringing up aready...
  18. Oh - and I'm talking about Avalanche as in the brand Avalanche - not GT's Hardtail xc offerings... If i had the cash, I'd go for a Zaskar pro tomorrow...
  19. Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these bikes... Felt looks as if it has the better frame, but that's only because I can't find any info on the Avalanche frame. Avalanche has better componentry (M485 discs v Tektro Auriga Comp; 9spd Deore v 8spd Deore; Octalink Crank v OEM SR Suntour Pressed steel jobbie; SR Suntour XCR fork v XCM - both 100mm with L/O; ) If the frames were the same, I'd go for the Avalanche. I know they've been around for a while, and are brought in by Giant... does anyone have anything to report on the quality of the frames? The Avalanche comes in at R 400 less than the Felt, even with the better components. I just wonder if there's that much difference in frame quality of the Felt to warrant the increased price, or if it's all just down to the name... cptmayhem2009-03-24 12:08:02
