  1. Thanks guys, its a sad reality that we have to live with. Happy to get away unharmed.
  2. Stolen: Scott Spark World Cup AXS 2021 When: 10/04/2022Where: Outside, Cape Town, Western CapeYellow Scott Spark World Cup AXS, has Csixx handlebars and a Lyne Holy Rail and dropper post.Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.
  3. Shimano XTR9100 was by far the worst groupset I have ever ridden in terms of reliability. Derailleur clutch would give issues often causing crazy chain slap (Shimano refused to warranty), brakes are weak and require maintenance all the time (and you can't service them). The only good part was the XT cassette which has an awesome range and is "affordable" and the smooth shifting.
  4. Have also only had good dealings with TVS.
  5. Wild, glad you got it back @cdreyer
  6. Wild.. Its that time of year folks
  7. "Get your mates to sign up and sit slip on fees. New subscriptions get you beer money." No thanks.
  8. Woodstock is the wild west. The person had very heavy - what looked to be stab wounds - to the chest and lots of blood around them. Rode past the spot on my way home and there was police tape around the area.
  9. Passed what looked like a murdered individual on the Church Street bridge in Woodstock this morning. Cops had just arrived when I rode past. Not the best start to the morning.
  10. Fritz has a lot of egg on his face this afternoon
  11. Equal prize money should be the norm, end of story. Just look how stacked the ladies field was this weekend. My question is, has the prize money allocation between the Men and Women changed from last year, when the men would race the Ultra-marathon distance and the Ladies would compete in the Marathon distance? maybe advendurance thought they could get away with not rejigging the prize purses even though the formats have changed.
  12. Was this guy riding a spez with a busted rear wheel ? saw someone matching that description walking down from level 5, spotted him having a chat with the rangers at the gate by the manor house later on.
  13. The 70km was a great route. Definitely the best PPA mtb race I have done to date. Riders were seeded properly and it was a good challenge. Thanks to the helpful guys that donated plugs to me on the Groenlandberg descent. I still have one persons mini toolkit, if you are reading this PM me and i'll return it to you.
  14. So when the roadworks are no longer a factor, the price will come back down to earth again ? I think not.
  15. I understand the commercial aspect, I just don't understand why the small 3-5m tree's also had to go, surely they weren't at a viable age - every standing tree has been chopped. Some just left there, that is the worst part.
  16. MTO could have improved the route experience of w2w by not felling every single tree (big and small) in the Grabouw plantation and destroying the trails in the process.
  17. Crazy entry fee's, I vote with my wallet on this one.
  18. Reports say that Ariane had a bent brake rotor after a crash, hence the sudden change in pace.
  19. More likely a shortage of stock. They are getting some in this month apparently. Must say I'm very happy with their service, the Evil Twin is an awesome machine
  20. Been following this thread most of the morning... What bothered me was some guys saying that you will get a criminal record if you pay your admission of guilt fine. I struggled to believe how this could be true, so I tried to contact someone at SANParks to get some clarity on this. Eventually I got a call back from Hilton who manages the security for SANParks in this area - i.e. He is responsible for sending the rangers to patrol certain spots - he assured me that you will not receive a criminal record if you pay your fines before the court date, you may also go to court and contest it , or avoid doing anything if you like (and face the consequences what ever they might be). But the point is you WILL NOT get a criminal record for paying the admission of guilt fine. Although I don't agree at all with how heavy the fines are, or the way they are handled by SANParks. Hilton stressed the point to me a few times that SANParks aren't intentionally trying to push cyclists away, they are trying to accommodate and keep everyone happy, which is not an easy task. I can only hold thumbs they officially open Cecilia and the greenbelts for us to ride soon !
  21. This past weekend a few of the A-Z trails were closed due to felling of tree's affected by the fires earlier in the year. I doubt they will be cleared by the 13th ?
  22. Are you saying that people have received refunds ?
  23. PM sent
  24. The Jonkershoek Cafe is its own worse enemy to begin with, poor quality food at tourist prices and marginal service at best.. On my last outing there 2 months ago I noticed they had a couple grey specialized epics on their racks, which I assume are also rental bikes - didn't notice any scotts - Makes you wonder.
