  1. See the Facebook group "Super Switch Stewart"... Funny stuff. Any case, you guys don't know what really happened (and neither do I), so what's the point of deciding who was at fault here? Let the boys sort it out among themselves. Plenty of races to come.
  2. Perhaps. I heard a rumour that KM riders are getting a pay decrease.
  3. And your point is? Any manager in the world has at some point or another made tactical errors or read a race wrong. This is kind of irrelevant to the matter at hand, don't you think.
  4. Jaco en Jaques was laasjaar oorsee met Konica Minolta en hulle het nie teruggekeer vir SA's nie (net Hanco, Marnus en John-lee het teruggekom). Die Jaar voor dit (i.e.2005): Road - Jacques 1ste, Jaco 2de. TT - Jaco 1ste, Jacques 2de.

    Vasbyt

Yeah, I thought I saw Tiaan getting caught closer to the finish, before the decisive move went, but thanks to their race report I realise now that it was in fact "a solid group containing two Colorpress riders, namely Henry and Neil Uys". I also thought Christoff joined Jay in front, but no, my eyes were deceiving me once again.

    Vasbyt

Read Colorpress' race report on Cyclingnews.co.za - seems they rode a different Vasbyt on Saturday, 'cause it doesn't sound like the same race to me...
  7. The majority of SA pro's are very easy to approach and will kindly talk to you after a race - Just try and you'll see. Obviously there are exceptions and times when they do not wish to be bothered, but you'll find that in any country in any field. Anyhow, they're professional cyclists because they can ride bikes hard and fast, not because of their public relations abilities, so cut them some slack.
  8. In Europe a lot of guys on continental teams earn as much as SA's local Pro's, but they are still seen as amateurs until they make the step up to Pro Continental or Pro Tour level. Like the Velits twins on Konica Minolta - I'm sure they could get by on their earnings at Konica Minolta, but they only saw themselves as turning professional this year when they moved on to Wiesenhof. If you refer to professionals as those who make a living off the sport, then sure, there are plenty in SA - Guys like Malcolm, pretty much the whole Microsoft team actually and also plenty others. Sorry for the short novel.
  9. Dan Craven and Erik Brits of GT Eduloan Maties as well.
  10. If that's true' date=' how many do we have in the country? 10?[/quote'] Well, in Europe you will be seen as a professional only if you are on a Pro Continental or Pro Tour team, which gives South Africa 6 professional riders in total. As for local pro's on the hub, well there's Gary Rabie of Hi-Q, Hanco Kachelhoffer of Harmony (when he has access to the net) and Michael Robinson of Exel. Some team managers of the teams as are also on, namely Zoon Cronje (Colorpress Cyclyingnews), Barry Austin (Exel) and Carinus Lemmer (GT Eduloan Maties). All I could remember right now.
  11. That poefter is such a sad guy, and the worst is he doesn't know it. R100 bucks to the first cyclist who sees him in a public place and kicks him in his private place.
  12. Very nice, very nice... How much?
  13. Kranswurm... Was listening to Darryl Impey's dad last week telling us about the whole situation. Apparently this old man rode between the group (peloton 40-50 riders I think) and knocked 4 guys with he's side view mirrors and then he say's or tell's us that he politely hooted and asked them to get out of the way... Funny thing is... while he was in this group causing havoc... he just turned in to he's work place and then he say's they followed him to work?!?! He deserved it if that was the case. Let's wait and see what Marco say's. I'm sure the story about hooting politely only came half from the old man and was then greatly exaggerated by the A-hole journalists like they sometimes do. Either way the old ballie got what he deserved and there was no permanent damage. If you wanna threaten someone's life, don't complain when the same happens to you.
  14. 101%, I think you just misunderstood her post, she's probably afrikaans and meant to say "Dis nogal hard om dit te glo van Marco..." which should have been "It's kinda hard to believe something like this about a person like Marco...", cause she is on his side afterall. Merely some bad English.
  15. Very good point Goofs. The only reason people are disagreeing about this is because they are proud to be Afrikaans, which is fair, but the point is, regardless of what language was spoken, the person being interviewed did not answer in a language that the person interviewing her could understand, which is simply inconsiderate. Full stop.
  16. Fair point.
  17. Talking about getting facts straight... I see Wilhelm de Swardt got journalist of the year. Now that guy seriously needs to get his facts straight. Nearly every article he writes has untrue facts in it, and it's not like it's hard to get the right facts, but he still gets it wrong.
  18. Ha ha. True. One lap in the lido bunch should clear things up, or just bring some more bulldust Till the 29th then.
  19. I'm sure enough will leak out before then... Long before.
  20. Nope.
  21. NOPE................not at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Interesting... So will Tony be involved with Harmony? Juan is afterall his prodigy. What team will Zoon be with then?
  22. He'd be making a mistake if he doesn't (well if he goes for less than 6 months, anyhow).
  23. Is Zoon going to be the manager for Harmony/Schwinn?
  24. Andrew, thanks for coming on, and I agree that the break was mostly the doings of Microsoft. They had the most riders in it, they were pacing a whole lot more than anyone else, and they won most of the primes. You guys made a lot of other mistakes, though. For example in the start you mentioned that Hi-Q has Alex Froome. I've never heard of this guy, might be because he doesn't exist. It seemed Paul and Phil knew more about the South African racing. Also, I know this isn't your fault but have a look at it please, the profiles were all wrong. They said Maaske was 19 - He's something like 28. They said Tuis Sebona was 23 - He's 25. They said Jaques Janse van Rensburg is 1.89m - He's a shorty. Etcetera. I'm sure the team managers didn't give you the wrong info to use for the profiles. The coverage was unfortunately much worse than that of the Amashova and really just a big dissapointment. Also from the helicopter shots it was impossible to see anything meaningful, where at the Amashova you could clearly recognise riders from the respective teams (more like the Tour's TV coverage), but I suppose their was some reason for this. Hats off to the organisers of the Amashova.
  25. Let me get this straight - They tried to race in the junior bunch with open gears? And John told them to do this? How stupid can these juniors be, It's so easy to spot a 12 on there. Names?
