    GCN+

I haven’t noticed much difference between when I’m using vpn or no vpn in terms of quality, personally
  2. G = MVP Absolute class by G, and closed out perfectly by cav. I loved that too much.
  3. Damn ok cool, the 42’s stay on then! Thanks
  4. Can confirm this 🙈 lucky for him @MattBCR is a Lekker guy! 😅 (and insured…)
  5. @The Gallows Do we get to ask about recommended tire width now after these saucy updates to the route? I was planning to go 38c to keep things light for the climb… but now… 👀😂💀🪦
  6. Just to be difficult 😜 Try telling this to Emma Pallant who was DQ’d from 947 Ride Joburg after following the lead vehicle the wrong way (she already had quite a healthy lead at the time)… argument is that riders are “to study the course in advance and may only leave the prescribed course if ordered to do so by a police officer. The Regulations go on to state that should the rider take a shortcut that constitutes an advantage, he/she shall be penalised in accordance with point 13 of the table of race incidents. Point 13, among other things, calls for elimination or disqualification.“ This is UCI though, not sure of CSA rules.
  7. Especially considering impacts of long Covid that have affected so many top athletes, if he is sick it’s probably the smart choice for such a young rider with his accolades and potential.
  8. Seems crazy that there are so many, when it doesn’t seem to be such an issue anymore on a general basis, but I guess close proximity, multiple days racing and peak condition of riders (so suppressed immune system) probably has a fairly big part to play. Definitely sad for the race!
  9. Nope, UCI/race rules allow you to continue, it’s the teams decision if you pull out or carry on racing…
  10. Yes, and I’m sure Roglic would agree!
  11. I’ve been trying to figure out from this whether he felt sick or not. Made no mention of feeling off in interview or posts after the stage, which he won, again (although, this could also just be not wanting rivals to know you’re a bit off) and the above says it was a “routine” test - implying not something he went for because he was feeling sick? Or am I over-analyzing here… would have thought with a rest day today would have at least given body until this evening/Tuesday morning to confirm? But that being said I don’t profess to know too much about the inner psyche of the top teams and their decisions, especially with so little info at present!
  12. I’m sure @ChrisF read/understood the times specified. But if you do longish rides on a daily basis, it will require you to recharge every couple of days at least, or daily if you want to minimize the risk. And if you forget to recharge, and head out, or battery deteriorates over time and so runs out while you’re on a ride and then something happens, it’s just an increased burden on you instead of insurance company. Especially with stage 6-7 loadshedding. So I can see why there might be some hesitation (especially given past experience…) Also as previously mentioned, it isn’t planned to be “simple” to take on/off due to theft/removal risk - I, for example, don’t have a plug point at the spot where I store my bike, which also adds to the complications. Not saying it isn’t a great option for some people, and definitely on the right track, but with such short battery life, for me personally, it wouldn’t be high on my list. especially if it means the insurance company can void a claim if i didn’t have it fully charged.
  13. I’d say overpriced, I’ve seen some carbon bikes with better 10speed Groupos selling for around 8/9k over the last couple of months. I’d wait it out for something better, unless you’re desperate
  14. Can also do Ou Wapad and Noordhoek Peak, across to the mast, down the Tokai jeep tracks. Some bits are a little rocky/loose but have had plenty of friends who have done the route on gravelbikes.
  15. Well deserved today, she worked super hard in the break. One of the best and most genuine podium presentations I’ve seen as well, awesome!
  16. But in reality, let’s say going up a hill, a cyclist is going to take a lot longer to get past a car and a group of cyclists than a car would be able to accelerate. By the time you’re halfway it may no longer be safe? So then what? It’s a lot easier if it’s just a group of cyclists to ask them to please keep left so you can still safely pass within your lane. imagine every group of cyclists out there with a safety car, it would be absolute chaos?
  17. Ok, but what are other cyclists who want to pass supposed to do? While you may be protecting the group you are driving behind, other cyclists are seemingly more in danger having to now go right around the car and the cyclists who are now also riding 2/3 abreast?
  18. To be honest, even if the road isn’t narrow it’s a hazard. I’ve seen a “support car” (husband/wife) following up Black Hill once or twice, the problem is often if the rider isn’t that strong, then other cyclists need to go right into the middle of the road to pass, which is not just unnecessarily inconvenient for cyclists and motorists, it’s just plain dangerous (especially when cyclists are relatively slow uphill and will take a while to pass the car and rider, where the other traffic is traveling at close to 90km/h). Just some sort of etiquette would be appreciated
  19. Yeah so you only have access to the replays of races that you would have been able to watch live as far as I’m aware… was a bit bummed the cx world champs wasn’t streamed for SA, but luckily someone posted a link on another forum!
  20. Unfortunately not sure on the android box thing though, I just have the GCN+ app loaded on my Samsung smart TV and it plays from there, similar to Netflix etc
  21. I’ve got it, signed up for the annual subscription as it seemed to be enough of a discount to easily justify it. Have had no issues so far except in the recent vuelta a San juan which wasn’t a GCN issue, was a general all round coverage issue. Some of the races are geo-restricted though, so just check out beforehand that the ones you want to watch are being shown in SA, or you might also need to use a VPN 👍 the nice thing is that you don’t have to watch it live, if you’re at work etc you can come home and watch it at a later stage from the start, I wouldn’t always necessarily remember to record it on DSTV
  22. Yeah, I’m in a complex, same fibre provider for the whole lot… I’ll have to take a look and see if I can find the details, thanks
  23. Noob Q: Anyone else having issues with fibre during loadshedding? I have a UPS that can last the 2-4h stints no problem, but after an hour of loadshedding the internet stops working. So everything is connected, just no data flow (broadband light is red and service light is off - usually both are green). Raised it with my ISP and they just blame Eskom and their ‘batteries not having enough time to recharge’. I’m not super clued up on these things, so trying to confirm that it’s definitely an ISP issue and not a fibre provider issue before I change ISP’s only to find I’ve gone full circle 😂 friends down the road are MWEB and have zero issues even in 4h windows.
  24. “Okay, have a good day Sir!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  25. Nevermind, Found the original detailed imports thread… definitely a yes.
