Yeah so apparently this is the motorcyclist, I know it’s technically not relevant but my mates said he looked like a kid, maybe around 19 yo. Was standing with his head in his hands. No excuses, but I (hopefully) imagine he has realised the immensely terrible impact it is going to have on both their lives.

So friends of mine were driving on chappies this morning and were overtaken by the motorbikes on a blind corner a few seconds before. They noted that the guys were flying and commented how risky it was. Then came around the very next corner and found that is exactly what happened 😞 not a great sight for a family with 2 young kids (or anyone for that matter) to witness. Absolutely terrible, hoping by some miracle the cyclist is ok 🙏

Haha, yeah look, my point is more that there is nothing productive about shaming one group. Often it’s a people-specific problem more than a cyclist-specific problem. It just creates unnecessary conflict or allows people to justify a bias they already have.

I just don’t get how they can reasonably pass the admin (and essentially the responsibility) on to the bike shops? Imagine the time the bike shops now have to spend trying to inspect cranks, and make a call on whether they’re safe or not. When they had nothing to do with the manufacturing process. And if they say it’s fine and then something happens, who then assumes that risk? And even if they don’t want to make the call and plan to pass it on to CH - there is additional admin involved in shipping the cranks back and forth. It’s honestly a joke. If I was a bike shop I would not be impressed… but maybe I’m misunderstanding the process.

Also, imagine how boring the Vuelta might have been if Jonas and Rogi just sat wheel all race after Kuss took the jersey and Remco imploded… at least this way we got some serious action and lots of will they/won’t they! Vibe! Stoked for SK (how can you not be), but I’m still a Rog fan too!

Also, she is targeting the world champs as her main goal, and so has trained to peak pretty much right about now. Pretty sure I also heard them mention how much effort she has been putting into her climbing for it too. That and 7h days in the saddle, along with racing junior boys back in Belgium, and just generally being strong AF to begin with… It didn’t exactly look like she was cruising up the Tourmalet, to me it looked like she was suffering, but trying to remain calm and focused on maintaining a certain power output she obviously knew she would be able to maintain. She didn’t have to do any explosive attacks or pull on the front, that was left to Reusser (who is another amazing rider, love her!!!)

I also have issues, and my fibre line is 100/100… weirdly on my phone, no problem, on a laptop also don’t seem to have too many issues, but when I try watch on my tv… nightmares. Buffers every few seconds. I’ve followed their instructions about making sure the TV app is up to date etc, but nope… agree it’s very frustrating. I have no desire to watch on my phone when I have a TV 😂

I haven’t noticed much difference between when I’m using vpn or no vpn in terms of quality, personally

Just to be difficult 😜 Try telling this to Emma Pallant who was DQ’d from 947 Ride Joburg after following the lead vehicle the wrong way (she already had quite a healthy lead at the time)… argument is that riders are “to study the course in advance and may only leave the prescribed course if ordered to do so by a police officer. The Regulations go on to state that should the rider take a shortcut that constitutes an advantage, he/she shall be penalised in accordance with point 13 of the table of race incidents. Point 13, among other things, calls for elimination or disqualification.“ This is UCI though, not sure of CSA rules.

Especially considering impacts of long Covid that have affected so many top athletes, if he is sick it’s probably the smart choice for such a young rider with his accolades and potential.

Seems crazy that there are so many, when it doesn’t seem to be such an issue anymore on a general basis, but I guess close proximity, multiple days racing and peak condition of riders (so suppressed immune system) probably has a fairly big part to play. Definitely sad for the race!
