  4. We are dissapointed to announce that once again we are forced to cancel what could be a highlight of many riders year. The RESTONIC TWENTY FOUR HOUR WILL NOT BE TAKING PLACE THIS WEEKEND. The few riders who have entered will be contacted and their money either refunded or they will be early bird entries. Regards Wendell

The whole team will consist of 10 members. HAVE YOU BEEN ASKED TO RIDE ?????
  6. Dirkitech, I am getting my web page sorted. Sorry but I am a simple cyclist and lost with IT.
  7. Hello Mike and Dirkitech, Con-try to common opinion...we are able to put a non technical but exciting trail together. At 8 km and 130 meters accent it balances out your energy suitable for an event like this. We are hoping for some corporate team building teams and if too difficult they wont return. I have published a map but if you see me on the weekend I will go through the route with you. Thanking you for your response Wendell

  12. Hello Benuti, we have been riding at 6pm on Wednesdays. We concentrating on the 24 hour route for now.
  13. There is a bike shop called "The CYCLE HUB" and has been for 12 years !
  14. Entries will be open on the cycle lab entry page for the Gauteng XCO and DH champs. Sat. morning 12 th July at 8h30 the XCO at Thaba Trails, Klipriver Drive Mulbarton and the DH at 2pm at Thaba Ya Batswana with the entrance at the Fire Station on Impala Road, Kibler Park. maps etc on Thabatrailsclub.co.za. Course will be the same as the Nationals on the 19th and 20th July... accomaodation etc available on the WEB.
  15. Thanks to all who came and did a lap or two on the XCO course. Please just remember, it is still a work in progress due to the rains. The Drop Off will be " Rocked up" by Wednesday. The trail is riding well and I am looking forward to " Constructive" criticism. 80% of this course will be fine tuned for the Nationals in July. I find the 5 km is such a nice race distance and I imagine a lap time of 15 minutes for elites. Therefore the laps should be 6 for Elites but will be finalized by race commissaires. Trails are marked and you are welcome to come have a go. YOU must check the start times as they are different to the first two of the series....just check it out, first race is at 08h00,
  16. This is just a short note of appreciation to each and everyone who attended this years event. I am sure that a number of you out there who did not attend regret the fact....the trails reduced due to the huge amount of rain that is dammed on the eastern section of Thaba Trails, were never boring and often sightings of game while the guys were riding. I am just so thankful to each one making it the event it was...to my trail teams..time keepers and each person involved..Thank you thank you thank you !!!!
  17. Today's update...I rode the course last night...in the rain. We MAY need to shorten the lap if the rain continueS. I did think of tarr....but that may be out of place....the mud picked up on the majority of the trail just fell off the tyres. I was using Conti X-King on the front with a Mountain king on the back.....THE RACE WILL GO ON....THIS IS MOUNTAIN BIKING AFTER ALL..........AT IT'S VERY BEST.
  18. Tony, you should know by now....an excellent provider of Bacon and Egg Rolls, Prego Rolls, Boerie Rolls and the normal cold drinks and the "Normal " free coffee table BUT illy Cuppochino on sale.....and then we have Nando, KFC, MUGG n Bean and Romans Pizza only 800m away.
  19. Will do Wayne...
  20. The trail is wet... but the type of soil allows for good drainage. I may take out the "GROVE" which is the new section on the eastern side of the trails between the new forest section... a bit of mud but will see how it goes. A shorter lap just means more often tempted to drink an Illy coffee....
  21. coffee will be good Ben...
  22. Sorry I've just seen your enquiry. You are free to ride as long as you want to. You are trying to ride as far as you can for the 12 hours. There are two men and four men teams as well but one member only on the trails at a time. I often ride this as a two man (with my son) but we enter solo so we can ride together.
  23. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings we do a group ride starting at 6pm. The pace is not too slow but will always stay together. About 2 hours but often ends a bit later... You welcome
  24. Oh BOY....I asked for rain on the 25th so I am not complaining....BUT.... now I am asking you to be careful out there. The mud will stick to everything. The soil at Thaba really sheds the water but down near the river there is the black turf and that's sticky. Come enjoy the XCO Course which is basically ready for the Provincial happening on the 29th March. The 12 Hour next week may be the cause of the RAIN !!!!
  25. We badly need rain throughout the land but when there is some rain it plays havoc with MTB trails. We are trying to keep up with the summer maintenance but in some of the blue trails please be careful. The A loop is super fun right now. Even where we have built the rocky decent for erosion control, you still need good bike skills. Mzuzu is a great challenge for both skill and strength. The B loop has been shortened for a while to make space for the cross- country trail being preparation for the Burry Stander Memorial XCO #3 that is happening at Thaba on the 29th March. This trail is going to be a tester. The West wing is a power section with some great climbs. The "new" decent has a "B"line for those not up to a serious drop off. The GAP jump once again is included in this trail of 4,8 km a true XCO course. The directional boards on the green trail are being numbered with the following emergency information. 1) A general inquiry/ emergency telephone number. 2) A medical emergency number for HELIVAC. 3) A number on the back of the arrow boards you will tell us where you are on the trail. We will extend this marking system throughout the park...... HOW DOES IT WORK ?? When you are experiencing some form of crisis you need to contact a number off the back of the nearest directional board. For a medical emergency, HELIVAC is our Medical Service Provider. You can call them directly for attention. When you are fetched off the trails by HELIVAC....there is a cost involved as in ALL medical call outs. HOWEVER if you are a HELIVAC Member there is NO CHARGE....so it's a no brainer NOT to belong to HELIVAC. Come enjoy the thrill of true Mountain biking within the City Boundries.
