  1. We will be starting our weekly night rides again. We will ride from 6pm till late or at the earliest eight. Our plan is to do green laps and depending on the group make changes as we go.... these will happen every Tuesday and Thursday nights. If you have NEVER ridden at night..trust me..you will see what you have been missing. See you at SIX sharp tonight
  2. MaBaker on best behavior will join us on Saturday. This will be a typical "FUN" ride starting off with a lap of the "NEW RACE ROUTE". The plan is to hold XCO development races every FIRST and THIRD Saturday of the month. Races will be over a 6x 5km lap and in the form of a MOB MATCH. All start together. The time for the start is 14h30. Entry fees will be R40 per rider. The next two months are going to be hectic for most riders so the date for the first event will be announced shortly. If you are interested we will arrange a race VERY soon.

  4. Nothing but what the group can handle. It will not be a race as we are just trying to get it off the ground....or should I say "on the trails"
  5. We will start a Saturday group ride this coming weekend.Starting at 6am sharp.A good THREE HOUR ride that will include some of the blue sections. This is not going to be race pace but rather a ride to get some good mileage in,with some good company... care to join us?
  6. Charge those lights..official night rides starting 6pm Thursday 18th at Thaba. We intend doing two laps of the 15km Green trail. This is a NON technical trail but you will climb about 300m per lap. It will be our first so we will not be splitting into 'strength groups" We will be riding for two hours. These rides will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm. We must leave at 6 sharp and if you are late you will always be able to find us as we come down the fence by Rand Water.Looking forward to some great riding.
  7. Slowly slowly we catch the monkey..just waiting for a good friend to send me the first blue sections that have been specifically mapped as loops....SOUTHFORK......this is entered at PRINCE...the first section is the original "Prince" then exit it turning left for about 250 meters. The next section is "Kudu" a neat little challenge with the inevitable " Bump" about 500m exiting onto the jeep track again. Turning left once more about 100m enter " AMON". Probably one of the most pleasant additions of late. at the exit we turn you upwards to join onto the jeep track once again....the next loop is MZUZU....turning left into it it seems a gentle decent but it eventually turns right into the bush and you will encounter two "tricky" drop offs ( nothing too difficult to walk )..and then it sweeps down and up and down and along and then UP....I have been on the recieving end of some mean words..but it is a challenge and it IS mountain biking.... I admit not an easy climb but absolutely do-able. you will exit this section and go directly into Lawrence which you will exit after a Kilometer, back onto the Jeep track past the entrance to Dave ( we are working on it as it is not to our standard) about 300m turning left you will go through another ruin and return to the green trail again. You need to turn right back onto the anti-clockwise loop past the entrance AGAIN of " SOUTHFORK" OR YOU can do it again.. this is something I enjoy doing as it has so many challenges that you just cannot get bored...the next blue exit is at ABRAHAM....turning right under the power lines.
  8. Hi VelloErv, if I laughed at you it was meant to be "with you and not at you" I do apologize. It is true that we have had strong winds as well as animals rubbing against and even eating on the signs. If I can have a ride with you I would enjoy sharing my vision with you. Unfortunately a day has only so many daylight hours.
  9. Hi Rocknrolla, I am sorry to see you a bit upset as well as not enjoying the trails.....unfortunately I have had some personal problems and haven't got to completing the new route markings. I have ridden the " new direction GREEN" with a number of riders of all levels of ability. I rode these test runs quite a few times and didn't just do it on a whim. As you know I am a passionate rider and will not make changes just for changes sake.I had a good thumbs up from every test rider. The green trail is 15km and forms the BASE trail. The blue sections turn off and returns to the green trail which is now ridden ANTI CLOCKWISE. So when you have returned to the green off a blue trail generally you need to turn right and again follow the green arrow signs. Just focus on GREEN. What happens is that approximately the first half of the 15km trail the "green" is the ARROW. The second half the "green" is the BACKGROUND. Therefore you are heading home when the "colour" is the back ground..remember the green green grass of home. I assure you that I will get the whole routing done asap. Two new sections are almost complete and ready to ride..KUDU and AMON...looking forward to launching these. Please be patient I want you all to enjoy your experience.
  10. I am a cyclist and passion about it. I love to see people come back time and again..I am not a politition. Would love to do it, thats why I built a Veranda!!!BUT..ALAS....
  11. morning everyone... I am so dissapointed to read your comments. I unfortunately can't do anything about it. I have spoken to the owner but I see that it has not helped. Please don't judge us as part of it, different owners.
  12. Sure Fitzy, entries close at 9h15...look forward to seeing you buddy.
  13. ps GET OFF THE SADDLE..rather than post. Gees, its hard with BOTH shoulders being strapped up. As they say. abalanced life..hahaha. will post it on events, thanks.
  14. I humbly thank you guys for your kind words. I agree, my team are proud of every inch of the trails. As more people ride there, the better the trails will become. We need rain and then you guys on your bikes. We will be hosting a 4 race series as a cross-country development drive. The bigger picture is the World mountain bike champs will be in Pietermaritzburg from 21 to 25 August NEXT year. No qualifiers so it will be open to all. I am hoping the road riders will join us. This series will be on a relatively NON technical trail of 5km. So, it will be fast. A mob match to sort out the rankings and if popular we will continue all the way to August 2013. Obviously the trails getting more and more difficult...dates ...1st September, 22nd September....6 October and 27th October.. start time 14h00 each day.
  15. Well,well,well..... there seems to be a bit of interest in the SS. I am really happy to see that there is some enthusiasm. Had a chat to Grant yesterday and we have taken out "heartbreak hill" this means instead of looping back after you start the second half, you will go straight up the hill ( 360 meters) then turn left into Samuel. This seems to be taking out 3 of the stiffer little climbs and only leaves two worth mentioning....the first one is in Samuel just after the first ruins...tight right hand turn not a biggie...then in Prince...after the valley drop to another right hand little climb, this is probably the most challenging but the loose sand makes it a little frustrating....can we hope for some rain...nah, that will really tick some other people off....the whole trail is soft but that should be sorted when the rains come and we have hundreds of you riding the trails. Best of luck guys see you Saturday...ps trails will be finally marked on Wednesday.
  16. I'm in...all the staff at Cycle Hub are involved or riding so why not me? It's One week before SA XCO champs...nice way to round off the training.See you there..uhm.. 19. Hey Richard, big thumbs up...looking forward to the Championship final... best CGC riders on the log will recieve their Championship jersey. 20. It's great to see the interest in the single speed champs as well as the Thaba Toughee Two....we will give you a refund of R70 at registration if you have entered both events on line....yup, so you will get two races for R230 and still we will give 60% of the profits of Thaba Toughee Two and the Thaba Fun 20km to CANSA ALBERTON.... on line entries at entrytime.com

  22. I am pocketing the money from the morning events. If there is any profit after expenses..medics,marshalls, timekeepers and other costs the split will be 60% to CANSA ALBERTON and 40% to Circle of Faith Ministry. The basic costs will be the same for for a 50km race as our 20km race.... but the THABA TOUGHEE THREE will not happen if I had to use all the available trail. The hardest 20km you will yet ride. The money from the Single speed will go into a kitty to foster Single Speed racing as there are no sponsors YET.
