  1. Hello Friends, I just want to inform those who indicated that they were coming to Hector Norris park to do the 1 hour ride/ revival service on the 24th... we have to hold this later. Sorry for this but thank you for your support. Wendell, IGWT.
  2. Sorry Mux, you need to pay but the 10 tickets are still valid for future rides.
  3. Start and finish in Rietvlei. 5km Loop. this time non technical but fast. The training and races will be here. Near Alberton on the Zwartkoppies road,
  4. Duh... at Rietvlei and it will cost R20. Sorry guys and guydettes.
  5. We are still doing the Tuesday and Thursday night rides starting at 6pm. There are two groups with different levels of experiance. We are not racing but rideing as a group. Wednesday 21st at 6.30pm we are holding our first night race. 5 laps of 5km not technical but fast to keep the heart rates up and the legs turning. Depending on the interest we will do them regularly. GOOD light are essential. See you there.
  6. Hi Guys, The facts are that I am in the process of relocating to Rietvlei, lock, shop and barrel. I have full access for the development of the farm as a "cycling park" and will include cross country running and walking trails. We have identified and marked a "blue" route aprox 8,7 - 9km. This is fairly technical, but then nothing is too technical to walk. There is a "green" route which has a lot of the technical section on the first half, taken out.We will still do some work on this route keeping it interesting yet less technical. A "yellow" route aimed for our beginners, a bit of single track to wet the apetite but rideable by most standards. We have now routed a 5KM trail that we will use shortly for night racing. Not technical but challenging cos it will be fast with 3 reasonable hills. NOT CLIMBS. Our intention is to hold time trials during the winter on Saturday afternoons and the night racing will be on Wednesdays. We have a group every Tuesday and Thursday night starting at 6pm, all are welcome.Just need a good light, that is all other than your usual stuff. Regarding the farm opposite my shop, it has recently been closed due to the release of some game and until these animals have settled down we are not allowed / wanted to ride there. The difference betwen the two options is that Rietvlei will be for the cyclists and Taboyabatswani will be a development ( however small ) allowing cyclists to use their scraped sand roads. I personally enjoyed BOTH but having made a commitment to Rietvlei, this is where I will be developing for the LOVE OF THE GAME. My WEB will soon be open for any interesting development on Rietvlei (the river being the next phase and challenge )
  7. This Sunday, 30th from 9am till 4pm. The open day is there for you to use. See the new routes. We will have escorted laps on the hour but this is not necessary as the routes are well marked. Come spend the day, bring the family as there are routes for all levels. The NEW black decent is too tough for my ability.. but for you? EWEP, you are always up to a challenge, but I hope you are on your bike again.
  8. Big Ben, tks for joining us for a short while last night. The moon came out and the rain was gone but the mud was still there. This is not a night ride for beginners but we will look at an easier ride for any persons easier. GO as you can see the subject is Rietvlei and that is where we will hold TT. It is by far safer, don't need marshals or road permissions and we are doing them because they are fun. The format will be; first one. 1 lap of 8.6km ; second one 2 laps of 8.6; Third one, 1 lap of 8.6 and the final one 2 laps of 8.6; The idea is to start at 2pm Saterday afternoons. Any interested riders let me know so I can go ahead with dates.
  9. We are doing a ride tonight anyway,,, but would be nicer if it were dry. Looking at a time trial series on Saterday afternoons... what comments?
  10. Rain stopped Play!!!!!!!!!! but never mind, we will have our open day on Sunday 30th from 9am so people from far can come. Thanx for all the interest and well wishes. Greatly appreciated. New open day date...30 March... See You There.
  11. Mark, you have your answer about change rooms, we will have lots more in the future........ you went there and did not ride?????? We were 6 leaving at about 6.15pm due to traffic hold ups and WOW what a lot of fun!! Are we not supposed to be able to do all terrein? It was a bit slippery but "causion" was our aproach. A few slips, slides and tumbles, but what the hek, its MTB and NO TRAFFIC. See some of you on Sunday, remember from 07h00 onwards. A " BIG" thanks for the well wishes, after all its about the ride.
  12. Hello Slowbee, Yes the dorms are there but from your posting it sounds like those buildings are now being used for a day spa, as well as Phisiotherapy practice. We utilise the thatch rondavels on the west side of the hill that can accomodate up to 66 people. I am planning a MTB training camp for 13-16 June. Will be a blast. The Zoo moved out and with it came the politics and threat of developments, but I am confident that the lease for another 16 years will halt all that and anyway 16 years on I may have passed 20 times through the rear-end of an earthworm...Planned for the farm to be an outdoor lifestyle centre. My input is the cycling, running and walking trails an as a bonus my shop will also opperate from there.
  13. Hello Gert, blessed with good health and good friends . Day entry will obviously be at the gate, books and season number plates from my shop for now. We hope to be on the Farm with our shop as soon as possible. Directions.( BigBen please help ) it is a right turn off Vereeniging Highway driving South from N12, through Brackenhurst on the Zwartkoppies Rd aprox 2km from highway on your right, or from West, Turn left from Kliprivier Dr onto Zwartkoppies direction Alberton and aprox 1.5km on the left.
  14. The cost presently is R15 per person. The rates will be from the 1st April, R600 for annual membership or 10 ticket booklet at R100 being R10 per entry or a single entry at R20. Yes it will be impossable to do without lights, but trust me it is awesome.. look forward to seeing you.
  15. Sorry, yes it will be this Sunday, thanks Bigben. We have also started our night rides from there, as from last night. We meet at 6pm, just remember "no technical too difficult to walk " I was told that recently. Every Tuesday and Thursday.
  16. We are having a Fun day and an OPEN DAY for Mountain bikers! The new route is great and I welcome ALL riders, an easy Jeep track for the children and beginners with the exciting modified route for the rest. Our vision is to create routes with 80% ridden by 80% of the riders and the other 20% will be for the ANRENALIN JUNKIES. We will be there from 07h00
  17. Sorry guys not on here as regular and often as I once was... Starting at 6pm ( as you have seen ) then looking at about 8 to finish.... but who wants to stop when you are having fun? This is a tester to see if there is much interest.
  18. Hey EWEP not interested in the nite ride tomorrow at 6pm? MTB from my shop.....anyone else interested?
  19. sure CAADman, enjoy. Everyone will ride a CANNONDALE .....someday !!
  20. CAADman, I rode the 2005 6/13 then rode the SYNAPS for a while. The difference is that the Synaps is a comfort bike in racing terms. It is a bit sluggish when you want it to sprint. If you are looking for a bike that you can do lots of good miles in comfort then go for the SYNAPS. The 6/13 is deffinately a performance bike for the hills and particularly the sprint.I have ridden the 2006 6/13 with a lot of pleasure and success ths season, not thinking of the SYSTEM 6 as I felt that I was not able to find HUGE differences or advantages over the 6/13..... but I am in the process of building up my new LIQUIGAS SYSTEM SIX. I just could not say NO when I saw the Mean Green Machine. The first one in SA. It is awesome, I cannot wait to put leg over... but must wait till next week as I have other commitments. The synaps is the only Cannondale not made in the USA. PS the LIQUIGAS TEAM each have a SYSTEM SIX (some have the SIX/13 ) but they also each have a SYNAPS. They will be rideing the PARIS RUBAY on the 15th on the SYNAPS. This will be interesting, see how the vibration elimination will perform.
  21. I would Normally sort this matter out behind the scenes and that is what I tried to do but his attitude has promted me to take his own advice...Do what you want to... The man a cyclist himself Ken Brown, has a son in the team and the team is HI-Q. and as a number of my friends ride for the team I hope this gets sorted out to prevent them getting the bad name.
  22. The signs are regulation provincial signs and therfore no branding on the signs. Ask Shuan....
  23. I rode the race in Meyerton yesterday with a first timer on a solo bike..nice gentle, safe 40K just to break the ice.... We were in the last 4K when Nick White sailed past....expecting the chase bunch to be close behind I looked back and warned " First Timer" just to relax and stay as close to the left side of the road..there is going to be a lot of speed and action when the chase bunch comes past " Racing Pros".....by now we were within the 3K mark and here they came....police vehicle...space ....bunch...less space and service convoy.....too fast for me to pay attention to how many vehicles, but they were in the middle of the road....Nothing wrong ..YET. till the last vehicle in the convoy cuts too his left... I imagine to see what his team was doing, but NO ATTENTION PAID TO OTHER CYCLISTS USING THE SAME ROAD....cutting very close to us, " First Timer " got a hell of a fright but luckily nothing happened. BRANDED support vehicle none the less. When I aproached the driver, who seemed to be amused when I told him of his action ....He said that he did NOT SEE US...I said I would take the matter further, upon which he mearly said that I must " do what I want to." Is this what we expect from so called "professional " back up drivers. NOW we want to get our knickers in a knot when a " mere mortal" motorist does the same thing and we have a near miss or so sadly a death !!!!! I wonder?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If he had apologised I would probably just have let this go, but if this is the attitude of a cyclist and he also has a son riding in the peleton, then what should be done about it.?? Since Graham's mamorial ride we seem to have slipped back to doing nothing much more, except Shaun, who has erected the awareness road signs, but what have YOU done.???? Let us think about us becoming PRO-active. I have so often been sworn at because I will ASK someone to ride " inside the yellow line or at the worst Two Abreast.... I would like to appeal to those of you out there to make a commitment, let us clean up our act and stand together when we see other cyclists disgracing our sport. If we stand together and back each other up when someone tries to correct a wrong doer, instead of just keeping quiet support him,and I am sure we will soon get the message across. If you like the idea recruit a friend or even better join up on www.sign-up.co.za we only can make a difference.
