  1. Bump... I have a non hubber who may join in. How many so far?
  2. I'm keen, what time you planning on leaving the Sun Coast? and how many kays will we be doing??
  3. Hi Samma Thats exactly what I am planning. That or finding another route or 2.
  4. great idea Hagar!! Do you ride that route??
  5. I am increasingly concerned about the number of MASSIVE trucks we have to deal with on the Lido route. Last week going up "steps" in the wind I left the road twice because of fear of being taken by 18 wheele trucks. Those guys cannot see us when they are passing, they are so high up and sitting on the RHS of their Cabs they have no Idea where we are. I am trying to get an idea of what sort of support I would have in arranging for a support vehicle or 2 on a rotational basis, specificaly for that route. Any like mind cyclists from the south want to support this?? There are already some vehicles I have seen but its not consistant and one never knows which route they are going to go or exactly who they are actualy supporting.

  7. Thanks!! It seems that they would be a good upgrade. Easton Circuit to 70 SL Carbon's
  8. I am currently using Entry level Easton circuit clinchers and am wondering what the actual BENEFITS are in upgrading other than the obvious weight advantage. I am considdering the Easton 70 carbon SL's for sale in the classifieds, what benefit would I get if I bought them? From a ride point of veiw? From a speed point of view?
  9. 1)Frame 2)Wheels 3)Groupo Frame - because you can upgrade around it therefore a great frame with medium wheels and Gruppo can be upgarded over time as cashflow allows. Wheels- as per above Gruopo - A well serviced and meticulously set up Midrange level Groupset will perform just as well as a top end groupset. In my humble opinion.
  10. Hey WW!! How many people go out at 05:00 on the LIdo route on weekdays on ave?? Do you do it? Are some days bussier than others??
  11. Yello I am unaware of any Traffic free areas in the South other than........ SUIKER BOSS RAND!! If you havent been, then you are in for a treat! oh did I mention the odd climb?? Its a 60 or 40km route on tarred roads with no or virtualy no traffic with amazing scenery and a bit of wild life to boot. Just be ready to CLIMB. It looks like the Groups leave the MX track from 6am and then again at 7am. Last weekend the 7 am bunch was good but I imagine the guys and gals will be moving to 6am as it warms up. Perhaps you are refering to rides during the week? - If so I have no Idea.
  12. NOT!!
  13. Please remember to use the LEVER rd entrance and park at the BACK of the dealership. Parking has been provided. See you all tomorow!!
  14. Hey Dirty Twin I shall be at the HUB RIDE tomorow and I will have Depeche going all the way. Is this Cycling for the Masses? Dave would be proud.

  16. To any Hubbers out there who have not confirmed their participation in this ride......that still want to join last minute...... Fear not - You are all welcome, we have 60 odd confirmed but I have arranged for coffee and muffins for 100. See you on Saturday!
  17. Just to confirm: I am providing the CLK to ride up front. I was too provide a VITO but Samajoor has said someone else is brining one?????? Can anyone confirm? If needed I can still arrange another vehicle or two but the sentiment from Samajoor was that we didnt want too many vehicles.

  19. Directions to Grand Central Moptors and Parking arrangements From the M1 take the NEW rd offramp ( The one with the resturant going over the Highway) Coming from the M1 North turn RIGHT. Coming from the M1 South turn LEFT. Iether way you are traveling WEST after exiting the Highway. Travel along New rd passing THROUGH the first ROBOT (past the Dealerships main entrance) At the next Robot turn RIGHT into LEVER RD (You will notice the dealership on the RHS) Go down LEVER to the next ROBOT and turn RIGHT into the Dealerships service rd Turn RIGHT into the Dealerships entrance, Drive STRAIGHT UP to the BOOM and enter the REAR of the Dealership and park. Please dont not come to the front of the building with your car as parking has been secured for us at the Back. Cycle back out of the Gate and go through the BOOM on your Left - staying on the premises ride up and around to the front of the Dealership - You will see the CLK waiting. On our return we will return to the START and park our Bikes on the Bike Racks and enter the Dealership for the Coffee and Muffins.
  20. I started out on a compact crankset - it was ok, didnent know any better I changed to 53/39 11/23 and times improved and I became stronger. I discovered Suikerbosrand and nearly k#&*#d myself. I now ride a 53/39 12/25 and all is well, even Suikerbosrand.
  21. I hope I have used the correct terminology here! My bike shop say that it is normal that my chain rubs whenever I say use 39 / 22,23,24,25 or 53 20/22/23/24/25. They say I am crossing the chain over and that I should rather be shifting Blades up fron rather than using the entire casette at the back on just one Blade. Any Ideas or comments?
  22. Grand Central Motors have made a Car available to help raise funds. Shaunh is going to drive the Car on the morning of the 6th pacing and supporting our ride. Tickets for the draw will be a hundred bucks The draw will take place on the day and one lucky Hubber will win a new Mercedes Benz Cabriolet CLK 350 for the remainder of the weekend.
