I ride Lido and this summer I am going at 06:00. To date I have been going at 07:00. less traffic, fewer trucks, much safer! As soon as it is light enough I'm there!!

Rode the 12/25 today, instead of 11/23. Did 80 k's on mostly flats and to be honest I felt a little out of sorts. My usual gear for cruising at 30kph at 90 cadence wasnt there........ also my shifting was different and I risked messing with my front Deraileur settings last night myself (HKGK) with some success but still my shifting wasnt 100% Maybe I have buyers remourse, I will ride another 2 or 3 times before going back to 11/23 including a trip to the suikerbos rand reserve for some torture.

shew, Check those compacts come through in the poll!! I think I'm gonna do the change. Tony Impie has 12/25's in stock. I'll try it out tommorow in our club ride (Southern's) I will have 53/39 and 12/25.

Does it make any sense to have two rear wheels, with 39/53 up front and 11/23 on one and 12/25 on the other for hilly days? I heard that the quality of shifting may suffer

I weigh around 74kg's. So far I have managed everything I normally climb. I often train Hills in the Suikerbossie game reserve out in the South, I can just make those climbs but it is not a pleasant sight!

I used to ride a Compact crank 34/50. The BB broke and I was talked into changing to a Standard Crank 39/53 with 11/23. To be honest it was a good change but I am really battling on the REAL steep climbs, I might go 39/53 with 12/25. I am interested to hear what the rest of you think.

I dont get it. When I revive this computer with a new battery and I switch it on for the first time its going to need me to input info,right? I would normaly enter the wheel size so that it could calc speed as the wheel spins and the magnet moves past the pick - up The method for cadence is similar only the magnet and pickup have to move to the actual pedal and the pickup would have to be close by on the frame in order to count the pedal/crank rotations. My question what is input into the computer at initial setup in order for it to reflect actual cadence (although it is actualy calculating speed)

I read that it is possible to configure a basic standard (no cadence) bike computer to work as a cadence counter. I want to use an old computer on my trainer. Anyone know how to do this?
