  1. I will attempt to CRUSH NigelHicks but I have my doubts DHI 30 - 34. It's on! Well once I finish up the next two days of work and actually get down to KZN, but then IT'S ON!!!
  2. The spacer on the far right (or the lower spacer, closest to the adapter) is too thick. These do come in various thicknesses so that you can run the same adapter for 2 different but similar sized rotors (like a 180mm & 185mm). So you can swap out that spacer for a thinner one. Where are the spacers that normally run above the bolt? Should be a similar set up to what is below the caliper.
  3. PhatTrikes on The Hub was doing decals. PM him. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/127337-decals-for-your-bikes/
  4. I use iso-propyl alcohol. General clean with a rag, then an ear-bud for the hard to reach spots (all done with the pistons fully in their bore). Then once dry squeeze the brake to expose the piston, a drop of fluid (DOT fluid for Avids, Hopes, Hayes etc & mineral for Shimano, Magura etc) to re-lube the seals/pistons etc and clean off any excess.

  8. Korrek. Gotta be wearing long sleeves, full face, no camera equipment (in race runs). All in the rule book. My Pj's will probably be my go to kit for race day. B) But I have some fresh new kit to break in during practice.

  21. So happy to hear it went off well and thanks to Dave and Ryan for kicking this thing off. The DH crowd are generally a very supportive bunch (I've always found) and always keen to help, whether it be with tools, spare parts or lines on the track. Even had some of the CSA guys say that they find it weird how nice all the DHrs are to each other at events We roll bikes down hills, it is that simple. It's meant to be fun.
  22. Good to hear. It's great to get all the old toppies psyched on riding DH again (in Gauteng), the racing is merely an added bonus and a prelude to a well earned beer . The Cascades track is in another league to our tracks up here, but it's gonna be real fun. Can't wait!
  23. Did you ride Helderkruin? How was it?
  24. Figured I might as well just start the next thread now... PLEASE NOTE THAT THE EVENTS DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 8 SEPTEMBER 2013 TO ACCOMMODATE THE LONG WEEKEND So the venue for the second race will be Thaba Trails. The track is the most recent addition to the Gauteng DH scene and was constructed by Wendell & his crew for the Gauteng National held in May 2013. Once again it is a trail bike friendly route with optional lines around all the major obstacles. Below is a run I did prior to the National, to give you an idea of the track... http://vimeo.com/66540374 Date : 8 September 2013 Venue : Thaba Trails DH track Cost : R150 per rider Also please check out "Gauteng Downhill Mountain Bike Series" on FB for more details and banter Edit to add: If you require more info feel free to e-mail gpdownhillmtb@gmail.com See my post on page #2 regarding the reason for the postponement.
  25. Deleted... See the stand alone thread for the next race: Gauteng DH Race #2 - Thaba Trails - 11 August 2013
