    DH Rims

I've only read good things about the WTB Frequency i23 rims and that would be my choice of rim from the ones in your list. Unfortunately the local guys don't bring in a 26" option anymore as there is no market for 26"

  13. Hey Guys 'n Gals, It's that time of year again.... Malelane 2013 is happening 8 - 10 November on Dirk Lourens's track in Malelane. The track is steep and technical and is actually good fun to ride, although it is challenging. Check out the vids from the past 2 years events to get an idea of the terrain. 2012 2011 Dirk does not rest during the year so the track is constantly evolving. They event is a well put together weekend out, which is about having a great time on your DH bike with mates and ultimately ends with 2 timed runs on the Sunday to test what you've learnt over he past 2 days...

  18. Yeeesh, you stacked straight off the drop! Glad you walked away from that one. I binned it in the soft berm after making the drop and got a solid thump to the head from my bike .
  19. Davi 'only' did ligaments. Pierre bust the ankle proper (bones, ligaments, the lot!), going for an op today AFAIK.
  20. The track was extremely rough and very lose. That said Tiaan (pictured above) seemed to have no issue with it and smoked the field with a winning time of 2:49 (no one else broke the 3min barrier). The uplift was good, I can't complain there and I wouldn't have wanted to do more than the 3 practice runs I got in, prior to the one race run. The track itself is very rough with plenty of rocks exposed (and certainly not AM/trail bike friendly, nor a good track for people to learn on/get into the sport of DH, IMHO). Due to the nature of the soil and the lack of rain the berms were all extremely lose and (for me) very unpredictable and plenty of off-camber. I never raced the track, I merely rode down trying to stay upright. It was an expensive race for me trashed rear derailleur, trashed Fox 40 lowers and I decent gouge in the frame of my bike
  21. It this stage it's not on the cards for me unfortunately. The 1st time I was at the farm I binned it hard on the black route (the little double stepped rock section). Was seeing stars, shattered my helmet etc... Although I did win best crash award and a set of tyres but was lucky to have walked away from that one. I'm sure it's bound to be another festive Swampdogs weekend.
