  1. I really enjoyed the Karkloof Enduro last year. The series is a great idea and it's a cool format for racing. While it is track dependent and a ball-ache to include, it would be cool if a couple of the runs did have proper Bull Run lines that can help more technical riders make up some time on their fitter counterparts
  2. Were the bushes you got from 'igus' just the standard sized DU bush? Did you still use the alu spacers or do you get plastic spacers too?
  3. I often don't wear sleeves , but never in body hugging cycling specific fabric. I go for more of the wife-beater cut.
  4. Bugger, I'm out for this afternoon. Found a snapped pinch bolt on my frame and I had to extract yesterday. Today's mission is to replace the pivot bearings and put the Heckler back together. Good to see you Patches & Hayley out on the trail yesterday evening & thanks for the offer of you spare bikes Patches, but my mind will not rest until the Heckler is back up and rolling again. Have a good ride this afternoon guys.
  5. No wonder you can't put on any weight.
  6. I got lights from these guys. http://www.extremelights.co.za/ranges/cycle-head-lights
  7. Cool, I'm keen. Need to test out the new light (which means I won't have to gap it at 18h30).

  11. I think using the term "shredding" and the spruit can't really be used in the same sentence. You can ride it and play on it with pretty much any bike you like. Your best option would be to just ride the 'spruit and session areas that seem fun to you. I guess the vid below is a decent illustration of 'playing on the spruit' http://vimeo.com/16364060
  12. wonder if someone with some electrical expertise can help me. I have a Garmin Forerunner 305. We have done many happy km's together, on foot & bikes. It unfortunately fell off my bike at some point and split in two. I stuck it back together & all was well... or so I thought. Although the unit would charge I kept getting a "You device has malfunctioned" message when I tried to connect with the PC. Eventually I split the unit in two again to take another look and it would seem that one of the copper electrical connectors snapped off during the fall (I assume). Is there anyway I can get this repaired?
  13. Note how Karma is on every 2nd post here. Just saying. Nice ride, & nice to meet everyone.
  14. How do we go about booking a camping spot OR is it a first come, first serve type set-up?
  15. I reckon you should be fine. Try to keep as much movement in the shoulder as possible and get to a good physio as soon as the doc tells you, so you can start recovering your lost range of motion ASAP. Good luck with the op, it is the best way to get it sorted though IMHO.
  16. The return of inverted DH forks. They do look very interesting. Not sure I like the green though... Read the full story here --> http://www.pinkbike....-look-2012.html It has only been a short seven months since DVO, short for Developed Suspension, was formed after Bryson Martin and engineer Josh Baltaxe departed from Marzocchi. Bryson, who has been in the suspension game for 23 years, quickly began outlining a plan to offer something different than what consumers may be used to, not just from a product standpoint, but from a company approach that contrasts with what many have come to expect. ''I really wanted to do it right, so we needed everything all under one roof and that’s what we have accomplished,'' declares Martin. ''Now that all the ideas, designing, and engineering all happen in one place, it’s a lot easier to set goals and execute on them.'' It wasn't long before both Tom Rogers (product development) and Ronnie Dilan (head technician) left Marzocchi to join Martin and Baltaxe and plans were laid for DVO's debut fork. Whereas the current major suspension players all offer a massive range of products to choose from, DVO plans on producing a limited selection of high-end products, beginning with the 203mm travel, inverted Emerald shown here on Pinkbike for the first time. http://lp1.pinkbike.org/p4pb8895391/p4pb8895391.jpg

    Fork Oil

I don't think the diesel oil would be ideal, but I haven't read up about it so I don't know 100%. I have heard of guys using Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) or Mortorcycle trasnmission oil (like Bel-Ray gear saver), but it's going to be the same price as the fork oil, so rather just use that.

    Fork Oil

100% correct. I was going to mention that. It's another reason why using a different wt oil doesn't really matter. Most of the big manufacturers rebrand other oils as their own anyway. If you search you can find which over the counter oils are very similar or exactly the same to the OEM oils. Fork Oil

The 15wt in the lower leg is just there to keep things lubed up. Thus they put the really heavy oil in there. It has no affect on the forks damping. Using a slighty thinner oil will no affect. I'm pretty sure the RS manual says you can use 5wt - 15wt oil for the lowers but I stand to be corrected. The 5wt in the upper is what is controlling the forks rebound. By using a slightly heavier oil (7.5wt) you can just reduce your damping to get the same rebound rate. That's why I say the 7.5wt is a good inbetweener oil

    Fork Oil

Just get some Bel-Ray fork oil. It's R100 for 1L (go for the 7.5wt as it's a good inbetweener weight). The LBS is probably going to rush you like R40 for the small volumes you require anyway. Edit to add: that you can pick it up at any store that stocks motor bike spares. Also, it doesn't have to be Bel-Ray, but I have just found the Bel-Ray stuff to be excellent and well priced. Edited again to remove a brain fart typo

  24. I think I lack the natural talent to compete with the top 5. Perhaps top 5 sub-vets... Well hopefully you'll be there next year to compete. Plenty trees for you to off yourself on
  25. It certainly did although my race run had plenty of errors packed into it, so I didn't put those skills to good use This is definitely the steepest track I've been on in SA.
