Something definitely needs to be done about lawlessness on our roads! I saw at least 5 drivers on cellphones today and not one traffic officer in sight! Apparently no traffic officers on duty on a Sunday in Cape Town! Standing together countrywide will make a statement and a start to making things better!

Sounds like there are three sides to this story! The Discovery drivers, the cyclist and the truth! I think the truth is we are as South Africans far too arrogant on the road, be it in a car, a bicycle or a motorbike! Consideration for other road users makes a big difference!

Bombs!!! I really hate the mini pumps that never get the right pressure! The bomb allows a quick inflate and to the right pressure!

What did Wayne do? He used to service my bike and I was always very happy with him! I think he moved on to a bike shop in town after Bridge.

My road bike took me over Chappies this morning, and my Mtb took me to work! Halves my time commuting if I ride my bike to work!

I have just recently converted to tubeless and one word of warning, don't use very lightweight tubeless tyres as they are prone to sidewall cuts! I got a sidewall cut in a river crossing during the Transbaviaans (sharp rock) and managed to put a worm plug in and bombed it and it lasted without losing any pressure for the rest of the race! Other than that 1 flat, no other punctures! Best upgrade if you are going to ride your MTB a lot!

Do you ride in all weather conditions? If only a fair weather rider, why?

Bridge tried to sell my mate a bike that was too small for him at a "good" price because it was the last one in that make and model. He had a bad feeling about the sizing and called me, I advised him to fit the same bike at Cyclelab and they recommended a size bigger! It was a R30 000 bike not an entry level bike! They used to be a great bike shop, in fact one of the best in Cape Town. They had some great mechanics and excellent service! I have not been back to Bridge to buy anything for about 5 years, after these incidents I wont even pop in to browse! I say lay a charge against them of theft!

Not only is it dangerous to try and get past 3 riders abreast, it forces the vehicle into the oncoming traffic! We almost had a head on with a truck this morning who took a really wide berth around guys riding 3 abreast! Luckily we were on our bicycles cause I reckon if I was in a car it would have ended up in tears! Consideration and mutual respect is the key to being a good road user!

If my post offends you, you need to take a long hard look at why you are riding? Was your training for you, or to brag about to your wannabee buddies? If your rides aren't epic then there is something wrong, perhaps you need to be doing a different sport!

Buy a Yeti and put Shimano XT on it. Ride it in the mud. Tomorrow you get hit by a bus and then your wife (or girlfriend) will just give your clean, unused, pristine MTB to the new shag in any case, then what do you have to show for it? Well said TheV !!!!

Fair weather wannabee mountain bikers make excuses that the mud ruins their groupsets! Real mountain bikers ride anywhere, anytime and in any weather conditions! Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
