  1. So sad, RIP Colin.
  2. RIP Burry.... A legend, gentleman, all round nice guy and true ambassador for the sport, country and humanity. What a tragic loss.
  3. Tragic.. RIP fellow cyclists.
  4. So, based on that statement, we will be riding together
  5. My 2 cents. I was also considering these two and looked at reviews for both the Scandal and the EMD on mtbr.com as well as What Mountain Bike. From this, both the EMD and the Scandal came out tops. I also chatted to riders of either wherever I came across them and from this too the EMD & Scandal seemed equally good. As it seemed as if you couldn't go wrong with either the Scandal got the nod because it's so much cheaper. Now the caveat - frame sizes and colours are limited on the Scandal and I couldn't get what I was looking for. So if your size and colour preference is available, the Scandal, otherwise the EMD may be it, but I'm also eyeing the Giant now, largely based on what I get for my money. Linden Cycles at one point indicated a price around R16k with Fox fork and all.
  6. Hi Vinny, pm Racer X (there are two on the hub, the one with more posts) he's a local in Hilton and will put you in touch with Gordon from W? (a Hilton bike shop) and/or the guys from Howick cycles, they administer the Howick trails. Some secret trails the locals don't much talk about is up to Black Mountain via Cedara and down through Magic Forest. The Cumberland Classic uses much of the route - it's great. Enjoy
  7. @mtbmaranata Thanks for the Tuks idea, definitely worth having a look at. Happy trails
  8. Hi Nerice, The mtb'er I was enquiring for is back from the Epic this afternoon, I'll pass on your details. Thank you. Oh, and also - it's TRailrider and not Tailrider. Tailrider reminds me too much of the story about the Tailgunner in the navy or one of the Village People
  9. Thanks Spinnekop - will have a look this evening.
  10. My humble apologies GO? - It's just that you were like one of those boarder masters that giveth and then taketh away - you posteth then removeth the contact number.
  11. Hi Andy, Thanks for the info - chatted to Pink and am impressed. Appointment set for Monday
  12. Thanks Rude - very conveniently located and could be good, based on Robbie's rep. Will have a look in Ride mag and call tomorrow.
  13. Thanks for the info Andy, I'll pass it on tomorrow morning. And thanks for running the search too. Thanks for the bump Nance
  14. Morning all, Do any of you know where in Gauteng, preferably northern suburbs, I can have max hr, lactate threshold, vo2max etc tested? I know about Activeworks, a bit pricey for me, so hoping there's someone else out there. Thanks.
  15. The best from experience is BigBen's ghetto version. I use Stan's after reading of some delamination with some of the other products. https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=24545&KW=ghetto&PN=1 Works a charm on my MountainKings
  16. Almost said Toiletduck , but it was called RainX. Does anyone know if it could be used on "plastic" / polycarbonate lenses?
  17. Quote " Topic: YIPPPEE THE SJARQIES ARE OUT....... AGAIN!!!!!! " Ek weet nie so mooi wat jy bedoel met die "out............again" nie - 2008 is net nou die dag, en wie was toe die Currie Cup champs? Maar ten minste verskyn die Bulls ook in die afgelope 4 jaar. Currie Cup Winners 2005 Cheetahs 2006 Blue Bulls and Cheetahs 2007 Cheetahs 2008 Sharks
  18. My feet are not what you'd consider dainty and petite and after trying on various mtb shoes, my feet slipped into Specialized BG shoes..... for my feet, the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. I bought a second pair just to ensure I'm in shoes I like for a good while.
  19. Depending on your cash, try this. The Subaru sani2c 2010 Waiting List Auction Going once Going twice Going three times???.Going riding. Bidding starts Tuesday 1st September 2009 and closes Friday 30th October 2009. http://www.entelecteventmanager.co.za/CMS_Images/42/logo_09_212_.jpg
  20. Looking forward to see the beamshots, specifically of the PocketRocket. And then pricing
  21. Eish Shakes, I haven't ridden either - prefer Giant But from a number of reviews on the web and also in some mags the Merida does seem to give the better ride. Based on feedback I could find at the time, I bought my son the Merida Matts something 500-D, and he's very comfortable on the bike, and fast But most bicycle frames are so close in terms of quality, that it's more rider preference I suppose. Good luck (enjoy the Merida)
  22. Hi there Shakes, Have a look at these two links. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/mountain/product/q920-09-34566 http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/mountain/product/matts-sub-60-d-07-14059 and also http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/mountain/product/q920-07-12985trailrider2009-07-18 09:00:42
  23. Hamba kahle indoda
  24. Thanks Sporties, I picked mine up from the post office last night. Thanks again
  25. Morning Ox_Wagon, Seems I've run out of options with regards to a diy repair So a trip to Polar Service Centre is on the cards, I'll just call first to get an idea of timeframe and cost, 'cause maybe a non-altitude ride will have to do for a while. Happy trails
