  1. Staggreen, did you ever get clarity on this?
  2. OK, so slightly different topic, and I'm looking here to the most technically proficient, and most experienced triathletes on this thread, cause this is a tough question that only years of experience could possibly answer. If you're on the course, wearing a trisuit and nature calls, what do you do?
  3. Any cycling groups in East London and/or St Francis over the holidays?
  4. Best place for bike set up in JHB (Sandton side of things)?
  5. Hi All, Training for my first 70.3 in East London. I will actually be in EL for the XMas holidays - are there any open water swimming groups I could hook up with there to get a feel for what I'm in for?
  6. Striped sand snake?
  7. So if I import an extra length seatpost, no duty applicable, is that correct?
  8. Thanks very much Graham. I'll be in touch if i don't come right. Appreciate it man.
  9. On an XL frame already, and it fits perfectly with the dropper post, which is longer. Also, hoping that the extra length of the dropper means my frame can hold a fixed 450. Time will tell!
  10. Hi All, Does anyone know a guy who knows a guy who sells extra length (preferably 450mm) seatposts? I've been using a dropper until now but it's giving me hassles and i want to go back to a fixed post, but the 400mm are just not long enough. Only one i can currently find is in the states (Gusset Lofty) but would ideally like to avoid the time and cost to import. Diameter is 30.9 in case it makes a difference. Thanks in advance, Mike
  11. Also got inspired by the thread. Two pair on the way! (Agree though with an earlier post - DawnWing tracking doesn't appear to work).
  12. My big frustration with the TT watch is that it has no stationary bike mode. It has a treadmill mode but despite hundreds of users requesting the additional feature for stationary bike, TT seem to have ignored the request. Thus i have to use the HRM with the Wahoo app when I'm in the gym. Apart from that though, it works well and I'm largely happy with it. I had a problem with my original watch freezing, so contacted TT. They collected it and delivered me a brand new watch 24 hours later. So i was really impressed with that. Battery life is limited for genuine endurance events, but so far the watch has lasted for each day of my multi-stage races (including the long ones where i have had technical issues), so I haven't really found that a limiting factor. But I've no intention of being an Ironman!
  13. JUST SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!
  14. Some sound advice here. Cold in and of itself cannot cause the infection. You were carrying the infection already, and it was probably actually the exertion of training, rather than the cold, that accelerated it's becoming symptomatic. As correctly pointed out, the cold can cause bronchiospasm - shortness of breathe and/or coughing, but usually you'll find this eases once your body has warmed up on the ride. For the pros (and I know most hubbers are in that category!) if they descend in the cold, and their chests (or more specifically the lungs beneath them) cool off too much, then their performance will drop off until they've warmed up again. Interestingly, many or even most of us carry the bacteria that cause throat infections (and often chest infections as a result), all the time, but they do not get sick. In very imaginative fashion, those people are called 'carriers'. One tip: It is in fact often the sinuses behind your eyes (and not the sinuses that aid in breathing through your nose) that get infected and cause post nasal drips which often lead to chest and ear infections. If you're using a nose spray, tilt your head as far forward as you can, to get the spray into those sinuses. Now, where are my antibiotics...?
