  1. Ok, so double checked the quick links, definitely 10 speed. I had a little test up and down the street last night to try and reproduce the issue. Put the bike in its hardest gear, started pedalling and the first time I hit a smallish bump (small curved pavement) it slipped. Unfortunately after that I couldn't get it to happen again. I tried pedalling hard, slow, standing, sitting all the way around the block up and down pavements, over anything I could find and perfect, no slipping, no problems.... shifting up and down all the way through the gear range was perfect... So... from cheapest to most expensive: Reset derailleur, triple check everything Double check cable, inner and routing to me sure nothing is hooking. Take shock out to test if suspension travel causes issues. Check derailleur hanger at bike shop. New cassette. New Bike. Anything else I should check?
  2. Ah, this might be it. The cassette is not new, but also not very old. When I used this cassette I would have spent very little time in the smallest cog on the back, causing it to be the least worn. Would the other, more worn out gears also be causing problems for me if this were it? Or are the little cogs perhaps the most sensitive? Did he find a fix? I'll check this as well, I did put a quicklink in, I ordered 10 speed, not sure if thats what they actually sent me.
  3. Thanks, for the advice does the hanger need to be checked by a bike shop, I've read around, some people say you have to use a tool others say you can lay it on a flat surface... What do you think? Was your problem only on a certain cog, or all the way through the gear range?
  4. I have double checked the lower limit, nothing seemed odd. I even backed it off a bit in case it was just on the verge of popping up to the next gear. Next its either related to suspension, or riding over roughish terrain (I guess the two go hand in hand) because it does not constantly slip, I think I noticed it only happening when things got slightly rough... I went for a spin in the street and that seemed fine.
  5. No, Why do you ask? Eish, This was a new chain with one link removed, when I had the extra link in the derailleur would fold back so far it would touch the cassette. I think so... If I look at my derailleur I don't see any other way that makes sense...
  6. Nice, I've always wanted one too... Did you find it on special anywhere?
  7. Nice and clean after my first two rides
  8. Hi All, I have a problem where the gears on my bike seem to be slipping, almost causing me to fall every time as the pedal just gives way under my foot. This seems to only happen when I'm on the smallest cog at the back (maybe the second smallest as well). All the other gears work perfectly. I installed the whole drive train myself, so I'm guessing it could be anything but my first guess is the chain length. I have attached pics of my derailleur in the largest cog and smallest, does this look like the chain length is right to you? I'd really like to try fix this myself, and not have to resort to taking it to a bike shop. :)
  9. Yes, its that one. Came in quite far under asking price... I'm super stoked Got an RS Vivid Air and 2 brand spanking new Schwalbe tires with it (Plus the two brand new looking Hans Dampf's that came on the bike). Now I'm broke as a joke, but need to do more work to get it rideable. There's a big ring in front, small cassette and DH x0 derailleur which doesn't look like it will support a 36t cassette. Will have to replace all + a new chain... But I dont care, the bike is awesome! Oh Yeah! Will have to get a better pic up myself soon.
  10. Got an unbelievable deal on this baby. Had to take it even though it was way out of budget. On the plus side I got to meet Andrew Neethling when I collected it at his place
  11. Thanks all... But I've managed to track down something pretty cool.
  12. Haha, yes you did...
  13. ****, thats not the answer I was looking for...
  14. I have contacted 2 of these. The one is a small, would love the 20k one.. but dam, thats a lot of money... busy chatting to the other guy about his... Hoping something comes of it. Do you reckon any of these would be awesome?
  15. well, there was a Shova for 11k on the hub, but it was a medium. Thats a lot cheaper than buying a frame for 16k as a starting point Do they have anything worth while? The ones I walk by usually have rubbish.
  16. Thats a medium Yeah, they're very very scarce unfortunately...
  17. Hahaha... I knew I was going to get an answer like that. Sounds like you have one.... Maybe you should sell it? do the whole 650b thing... cmon..
  18. I've been on the hunt for something like an old Reign/Trance/Shova etc bike or frame in large, but they seem to have all vanished. Was hoping someone on the hub would know of a secret shop somewhere that might still have something old and cheap laying around. Perhaps someone here has one laying in the garage that they're too lazy to sell? Been reading through the "Your Enduro Ride" thread and want to get me something cheap and nasty together... ok, not too nasty... Anyone with words of wisdom?
  19. Ah, thanks, thats just what I was looking for.
  20. Hi all, I'm looking to get a new saddle from WTB, but I'm struggling to pin point the bike shops in cpt that sells the brand. I don't want to phone around all over the place So if you know of a shop that sells these, please share I have tried Revolution Cycles, no luck. Thanks
  21. Quite pricey R255.. They said to me it only applies to bikes over R30k, so you're safe, if you don't plan on upgrading I have only had 2 claims, a few years ago they broke into our house, and this recent one where I claimed for the fork. So I hope that doesn't put me into a "high excess" category Yeah, I thought about that, but its quite a lot over 30K. I nearly missed this R2500 excess clause... I would have been so pissed if I tried to claim and it only came up then!
  22. So I've had my bike insured with Santam under all risks for a while now. I was covered for everything, falls, scratches, ding, repairs whatever. I've even had a claim to replace a fork thats stanctions got scratched which went super smooth. But recently I upgraded my bike which pushed the value to over 30k.. at this point Santam slapped on a R2500 compulsory excess. So if I need to claim for a repair, I pay the first R2500, which pretty much leaves me paying for most of the damages to my bike. Does anyone here have their bike insured under all risks with Santam? do you also have this excess? Is your bike over or under 30k? Need to start looking for new insurance now
  23. Dude, whats up with the picture in the background?
  24. Cool, think I will phone around after a stem today and give it a try. Just half the shops I speak to basically laugh at me when I mention OD2 Who in CPT are really good at supplying giant parts? Any Ideas?
  25. Haha, yeah, I pulled up next to him at a skills clinic he was about to give and he had one
