  1. Sweet, I'll also head out in a bit then...
  2. I'm also curious? Was hoping to make my second ever trip to tokai this week end... Has anyone ridden it this morning?
  3. Sweet, I hope it'll be good. Been for a couple of rides with the 34, definitely better... But still have a lot of work to do until its "easy"
  4. ...and how many did you start with,,,
  5. Weekday ride... push to the top of conties
  6. Guys, make with the live feed already!
  7. I'm in
  8. Nice, where did you order it from?
  9. Hi All, Planning to head out to Tokai soon (for the second time only), was wondering if someone could give me some pointers as last time we got a little lost. Where do we find the trails? How technical are the DH trails? I might go with people that are not great on technical sections, but they wouldn't mind walking small sections. Anything else I should know? Thanks Craig
  10. Yeah, Tygerberg trails have had a huuge upgrade... The new section at Hoogekraal and the changes at Conters are just awesome, so much fun... Im thinking of a little trip to see what tokai is all about.... ever been there? any good?
  11. Nice, I'm so jealous! Was eyeing those new 650 trances a couple of months ago... but I will have to wait for the 2015 models... hehe ... I have to ask... could you feel any difference from the wheel size change?
  12. so you'll also be resting more than climbing? lol, yeah, this 34 up front thing is a killer... I'm so *** tired by the time I get to the top, I barely just keep myself upright on the way down...
  13. Looks like I have three volunteers to tow me around if the going gets tough mayhem, you gonna be there on your reign?
  14. I'm just need to know that I will be able to finish it before I enter
  15. anyone have a rough estimate or distance/climbing you'd cover if you entered? I see there's reference to "days" of riding, does it span over the week end? I'm super keen to try enter.... Someone from thehub just collected some parts I was selling and he made it sound awesome...
  16. Yeah, share the secret with everyone! You could try contact Jaco from The Bike Shed. He recently received a huge order of X-Fusion shocks/forks/posts and will be able to give you some extra info / help you make a decision. http://www.thebike-shed.co.za/ He is in CPT though, but you could always get a courier to collect.
  17. Sweet, good to know ... I was planning on investing in a proper narrow wide ring so that I can get rid of this noisy chain guide... So I wanted to make sure... I think I might stick with the chain guide for another couple of rides... The chain is rubbing the guide when in the easiest gear... super annoying
  18. That's just the way our trails are I guess. Thanks all... guess I'll keep at it with the 34
  19. Thanks, so a 32 will make a very noticeable difference from 34, perhaps I should try that No, it wasn't that bad, no pushing for me, just a short break every here and there. The problem was mainly the downhill, I was so worn out I could barely concentrate... never mind jumps and so on... Hahaha... Don't think I'm going to get away with buying a third bike just yet
  20. Answers above. Don't really do many huge rides, probably 30-40km max in summer... But then I have a 2x10 29er that I can use
  21. oh yes, I also wanted to know, how much difference will there be from 30 to 32 to 34, noticeable?
  22. Exactly. I can change to 2x10, but its going to cost me and I quite like the 1x10, just thought maybe I was a bit weak for a 34t up front... looks like I'll just have to give it some more time... kinda force myself to get stronger
  23. Yoh, you guys are making me unhappy now, that 34 was tough this week end. I'm running an 11-36 at the back...
  24. Hey all, I recently started riding with a 1x10, 34t up front (on a 26er). I went for 2 rides over the week end, the first one was alright, but by the end of the second ride my legs were dead dead dead. So I would like to drop to a smaller chainring. Would a 32t make a noticeable difference, or should I drop to a 30t? I'm concerned that the top end on a 30t is going to be too slow. Anyone have words of wisdom regarding this? Or should I just HTFU and deal with the 34?
  25. I looked into this, many forums and the Sram website say that it works on a 36T cassette. http://www.sram.com/sram/mountain/products/sram-x9-type-2-10-speed-rear-derailleur Cool, I check this too, thanks Thanks man, will check it out when I get home...
