  1. The cape wind give'th The cape wind take'th... NW wind.
  2. YES! A cycling friend of mine crashed during the 09 Argus, at Misty Cliffs riding a Pinarello. He went into the ambulance while his very special bike went onto the sweep vehicle - never to be seen again. I will contact my friend. How can i get your/the sellers contact detail? Thanks Peter M?ller
  3. Regarding 9% mark-up: No retailer can operate with such a low mark-up, even Makro does more. It?s most properly a confusion of terms ? it might be, fixed costs + variable costs + an additional 9% margin. Just a thought. Regarding Recommended Price ? wholesaler / distributor / importers are only allowed to recommend a price. The dealer has the final decision ? the competition tribunal and commission enforces that big time. See car / dairy / SASOL / bread / food / etc industry. Massive fines are dished out.
  4. Yeap, Michael v s also did my setup and I am very happy with it. First went to my local BS but the set up was only so-so.
  5. Nothing wrong with asking! Its tough for the shops, but its also tough for most of us consumers!
  6. Methinks' date=' he?ll keep it because the economical upswing is just around the corner and then those luxury producers (SRAM etc) become the real sweet spot. [/quote'] Maybe, but I cant see it, Bank of America didnt see any future in the investment portfolio from what I understand.Maybe it was also too small for them.? The upswing is just around the corner, ........ Well , lets see, no one really knows but I am betting on him dumping them. Reinet is definitely one share to watch. Private Equity Funds tend to develop their investments for 3-5 year and then go to market with them (sell or list them). I really think that the economy will start to swing in a measurable way in >6 month time for about 1/3 of the market and sectors. The next 1/3 will take a few years (the golden years of ?sexy banking? are over) and the last 1/3 will never recover do to fundamental and structural changes. I know so little about SRAM?!? But I am so proud that a few SA companies are strong and investing when the price is very low. Like a smart cycling breakaway when the lead bunch is totally exhausted and over did it!
  7. What's the latest??
  8. SRAM will, most likely, be South African owned in a few weeks time. Rupert?s (sort of new, sort of family owned) investment company is finalizing to acquire two investment bundled funds of the ?fallen? Lehman Brothers ? from the EU branch and the two funds specialized in owning small to mid sized (cap) companies, which also included SRAM. Sign of the harsh economical times ? it?s a great bargain and a good deal for Anton. The former EU investment banker/manager of those two Lehman Bros funds works now for Rupert?s company.
  9. The std insurance will most properly by of little use, except if you took out one of those high-danger-sport ones (hang gliding, base jumping,). The lapsed insurance issue is relatively minor to the lapsed live issue. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  10. But seriously, apart from the <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lakeside traffic light, this will be an additional dangerous bottleneck. 2 ? 4 minor incidents close together and one could land up with a fat cycling traffic jam. Now, according to cycling strategy 101, one should ?.. PeterM2009-02-03 07:43:22
  11. Just heard the talk radio interview ? chappies yes, <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /> Boys Drive yes. Will add another 1km to the ride plus an additional uphill and a nasty decent. But they promised it will be more scenic... Maybe a spot to regroup...
  12. Boys Drive, at the Kalk Bay end, has a very steep decent, an antique rock wall on one side, a very sharp downhill left turn, the road narrows, and you can not see around the corner?.did I mentioned that it narrows at that section? The previous google pics only show the mild bottom corner where the road becomes bumpy and turns right into main road. If it goes over <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /> Boys Drive, just park 2 ambulances at the bottom ? they can do interval trips.
  13. Habit ? right pocket for gels and food; left pocket for rubbish; center pocket for zip-lock with money, cell, keys. Nuff said. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> PeterM2008-11-18 11:59:39
  14. Due to shortness of breath, it's normally just a nod or lifting of the index finger. But if i know someone, we normally slow down and chat.

  16. I am very sorry, because you might not like what I say. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It seems you have quite a good product ? but that is actually not that important. Most comments on this Hub thread are of little use or function to you Do you now who your customers, consumers, end users really are ? and WHY? Your focus on higher sales as a solution to your assumed unsatisfactory business environment is misplaced ? sale are not your real problem A lot of the ?advertisement and marketing? you do is totally unplanned are not-thought through ? that is important, it points to the real problem It seems as if your main business problem is that you just do not have a proper marketing plan i.e. game plan. What is the market, where are you now, where do you want to be, and how are you going to get there! This is it! A proper (sh*t-hot) marketing plan/game plan that is all-over-arching and over a long time period = it molds your business plan, it dictates all your spending, it will make your branding obviously easy and with razor-sharp focus, and all your advertisements/sponsorship are just a sub-activity to support all the above. Production and sales will than be a well planned activity with minimal surprises or variances. I hope I did not offend you. PS ? I will try your product ? but that is also not very important.

    CWC Cycles

Yes, i think it will find it's range between 9 - 10 ZAR to the US$ fairly soon. Will take some time before we can see a 6,70 : 1 again... But the ZAR will tip a few times: - when Trevor M resigns, which will be soon - our elections - Zuma's court case (or lack of it) - .....
  19. Am interested ? only seeded CC. But that is not a fair reflection. Cycle Challenge, with their indices calculations, did not include the cape races, except the Argus, despite having promised to include all long league races of the cape. This gives a serious advantage to the Gautenger?s whose local races are mostly included in the seeding. Only started cycling a year ago but have done all the race I could. Presently seeded in the <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cape at an indices of +-28. Have been practicing during winter. So 3h10 seems good to me. Might catch-up with you. Will be wearing my Cape Town Outrider kit = blue + white.
