  1. Yeah time to get Joe Hart between the sticks and see if he has any of his City form left in him. Knowing Joe, the one thing he is, is VERY hungry for regular 1st team football again.
  2. The above 2 paragraphs are part the main I stopped playing top level club cricket aswell as Academy cricket after a decent stint of about 8 years, but the highlighted portion is the main reason I stopped completely. As a 1A club we used to play a pre-season game every year against 1 of the top boys schools in CT and SA and it was a proper tough game of cricket each time. In my matric year we played against many players who were franchise cricketers already or international the next season, Telo, Levi, Kieswetter, Siboto, Pongolo, Smuts, Alexander to name but a few. We had a "Superschools" series which was on Supersport and also every Sunday in the Caope Argus, our results would be in the Argus every Wednesday and if your name was there for makinmg runs or taking wickets it was a cool feeling, the Superschools series had a ranking top batsman, bowlers, fielders and schools rankings and that was motivation enough. Every week in club games I was playing against contracted cricketers and internationals every now and then and even played a few seasons with a few of the above but like I said, Kleinveldt, Philander, Duminy, Prince, Kemp, Langeveldt, Smith, Dawid Malan, Jonothan Trott and played 2 seasons with Moeen Allie, the list is endless, my point is that todays generation of kids are just not interested that much in sports in general because at 34, I'm still being asked to go back and play Top Amateur club football and cricket because there are just not enough youngsters coming through who can "do the job". It just seems that going out or gaming or TikToking or whatever the case may be is more attractive to them nowadays than all day at a sports club.
  3. Rory Kleinveldt has a fantastic idea which would strengthen our club cricket, Vrsity cricket and in turn Provincial cricket. You don't haver to like the bloke but listen to what he has to say, Over 20 years experience in the game at all levels and what he says is spot on and a great idea. Listen from around the 14:30 min mark.
  4. Really interesting to see how Everton have change their style slightly. They've now scored 7 in 2 games(in 90mins) but at the same time also conceded 7 in 2. We always felt if you score 3 you should be winning the game, Well they did and drew (albeit coming from behind against United) and last night scored 4 and drew again (only ET separated the 2 teams). 2nd round in the league has started, the jostling for top 4/6 positions is on and the fight at the bottom is hot, The teams in danger of going down are going to cause a few upsets in this 2nd round I am sure, Going to be an interesting end to the season with the league alot closer than it was for the last 2 seasons, Yet i still see City running away with it and wrapping it up with maybe 2 or 3 games to go.
  5. I'm just here for the Tottenham okes. PS. That was a lovely game for the neutrals
  6. A great coach I once had always used to say before games with lower opposition on terrible fields and bad conditions which were seen as a "leveller" - "There are no pictures on the scoreboard or on the log at the end of the season, I don't care if its ugly, Just get the job done"
  7. Agreed, I sense a bit of "arrogance" on Klopps part by refusing to change his formation and style of play against "lower" opposition. The job he's done to turn the club around has been fantastic I'll give him that but his player and squad management and refusing to buy another top class CB when Van Dijk got injured and play other class players out of position has cost them dearly this season.
  8. I've been saying to mates for a while that Liverpools high paced style of play combined with the fact that they play a very high defensive line too which means basically defending from the front, Would catch up to them in the long run and it has now caught up to them. Adding to the fact that last season ended so late due to Covid and this season started without much of a break at all for the players and no real proper pre-season coupled with being in "bio bubbles", the fatigue levels must have eventually taken it's toll. Also I don't feel that Pool have much of a succession plan in terms of squad depth, because you have the front 3 in Salah, Mane and Booby and then they had a great new recruit in Jota who looked to be the buy of the season, But nothing more than that really. Yes you gave a guy like Shaquiri on the bench but he's hardly going to single handedly influence a game like the front 3. Then to the back, Yes Fabinho was a great filler in the beginning, but he isn't a full season type CB in the best league in the world and is being found on occassion. SO yeah, if I look back at United and City for example who were able to defend their titles, they had more squad depth, better quality off the bench and were able to rest players and rotate their squad.
  9. I found 1 hiding in a VILLA last night at something 2-7
  10. Pool were all about that unbeaten home run, they harped on it after every game non-stop, Now they've lost 3 on the bounce at home, 2 of which in the beginning of the season they would have penciled in as 3 pointers. United's home form also been a dog show, Funny season this...
  11. Liverpool barred from entering Germany for Champions League match, says ministry (msn.com) Interesting...
  12. Apparently Klopp said it was difficult playing against 2 teams last night, Brighton & Hove Albion.
  13. of late? They were top of the table for a while and top 4 for quite some time now after being dubbed as a relegation battling team about 6 games into the season..
  14. Granada must be kicking themselves, 2-0 up till the 88th, then 2-2 in stoppage time. Then they go 3-2 down in ET, make it 3-3 again but then concede another 2, Those are the types of games fans in stadiums would never forget, watching it at home just doesn't haver that same everlasting effect.
  15. Thats what Jose is known for, winning trophies and at the end of the season he will make it known that he won a trophy/trophies no matter which competition it is. Same like he did at United.
  16. Consistency you say?
  17. Gotta love their cut throat style of football they play though. they hardly ever make 10 passes just to keep possession or to try and breakdown the defensive lines of the opposition, its 3 or 4 and then forward with intent, I enjoy watching that style of football, similar to the Pool of last season.
  18. And then this, I would never have dreamt in a million years I would've seen this day come. Ex Real Madrid and Levante striker bought with crypto currency. https://www.sportbible.com/football/news-take-a-bow-reactions-the-striker-that-has-become-first-ever-footballer-bought-with-bitcoin-20210119
  19. Same thing people said about Leicester and Vardy when they won the league, But guys like Morgan, Mahrez, Kante, Huth, Drinkwater and Schmeichel to name but a few were just as instrumental in claiming their first league title as Vardy was, But I believe his story from ground up is what cast him into the spotlight and really made people take note. But what's impressing me most is their form this season, one would think losing your club owner as tragically as they lost theirs would affect the team and players for the longest while.
  20. LOL 4 games now. Leicester have played 19 whilst Vila have played 15, Villas toughest of the lot will be tonight vs City no doubt. Fairytale stuff last season, Final day and boyhood hero Grealish scored a screamer(although they would've stayed up anyway because the other result went their way). They've done well to hold on to him this season that's for sure after all the talks last season because if they went down there was no chance he would've stayed. Crazy stat that he was the most fouled player in the Prem last season(and in Premiership history) but his side nearly got relegated.
  21. Crazy to think if Villa win their 3 games in hand they would move to 4th on GD only considering their last day survival at the end of last season. Leicester have now played 19 which gives Villa 4 games in hand over them, if Villa get 12 points they basically guaranteed to sit above Pool, Leicester and Tottenham in the table. Villa vs City tonight, going to be a massive 1 for both teams as City need the 3 points to go ahead of United.
  22. Josh Francis at Powerbox bikefit. They are based at Edge Cycles in Edgemead. A comprehensive Bike fit now includes the ID match for your cleats too which are a tad more accurate than just some bloke with an allen key, Plus his prices are the best I've seen for comprehensive bike figments. I know of atleast 15 guys who have been fitter by Josh and they are all happy. Check Edge Cycles on social media and Powerbox bikefit.
