  1. Well we just won this one!!! and we won the last series there aswell
  2. i saw the "capcha photography" silver van and banner at about 5kms from the end... Good advertising!!! Do you have a website where you upload all the pics that were taken??? Another qu, why do ALL the photographers from Action Photo and the other company i htink which is called Jetline Pics or something like that, stand at ONE place a time during the race??? like there will be 4 or 5 photographers all standing at one place instaed of them spread along the route??!! im no photographer, im just wondering if they wont have more chance of snapping more cyclists if they were all at different parts of the course??
  3. i also used 32GI that i bought the day before at the local pharmacy...i must agree with your statement there, i think it was awesome!! i will DEFINATELY be using it more often...
  4. Shot, i will actually try my best to get my chain to fall off now so that i can see if that works...LOL
  5. Must say, i thoroughly enjoyed going down Helshoogte at 72km/h, as i started the descent, i tried to change from small to big chain ring, my chain then slipped off and i thought, going down after fighting that climb, there was no ways i was going to stop to put a chain on!!! so was just wondering if i was going at 72 without being able to pedal and go faster, what were sonme of the top speeds reached of the pro's / elite men going down Hels??
  6. Anyone know how the 1 guy is doing who went down about 3kms after the bottom of Helshoogte, just before we took the 1st left turn??? he must have started in group L-N??? He was riding a white and blue Giant TCR 2011/2012 model, when we came past he didnt look well at all with a guy holding his head in place, arms accross his chest and eyes closed??!! There was a car that had stopped just infront of him to obviously make other racers aware and a lady who was diverting the traffic... Any updates will be good to put ones mind at ease... Hope he is ok and recovers soon...
  7. yeah that i learnt before in last years race without warming up, LOL is it the same route as last year up the winding pass with that super crappy road and over that gravel piece at the top to get onto the real road at the top of the pass??
  8. got my entry finally searched whole week and was starting to give up hope, but luckily i found 1... now just to do the substitution (R150 to change from short to long route + R50 subbstitution fee ) Nevertheless, hoping to finish sub 2:45..... Qu, for warm up, what warm up will be best to do?? a few short sprints in the surrounding roads?? or what do you guys do to get the legs warm??
  9. Still looking for 2 entries for 2 mates if anyone has or knows of anyone not riding...Obviously they will pay their way...
  10. Last year i only managed to get an entry for the 44km route and placed 5th in the group.. it still boggles my mind as to how the winner of the 44km did it in 42mins(adjusted winner time according to results)?? Because if it wasn't Brad Wiggins on his TT bike then im not sure how that time was achieved...i am looking forward to the race on Sun and i hope the weather plays its part aswell...
  11. To me, recreational/social cyclists would use EPO as a EGO booster...so instead of a 4hr30 Argus, they do a 3hr50 Argus and beat all their mates and now have bragging rights for the next however long, now no-one knows u using it, so u are now the "main ou/ the Mr Wiggins" to all your buddies because they have no idea how you did a sub 4 Argus because you all did the same training together!!! It's the same as a recreational/social golfer, shoots 90+ plus through 18 but somehow has 80 on his scorecard, all his shots that you were convinced went into the bushes and were lost balls, somehow seem to be found and have a nice lie and a clear line in to the green, 50 yards further than where his ball actually went into the water or outa bounds..... I believe all it is for recreational/social cyclists is an EGO booster and is used to achieve bragging rights amongst friends!! Just my opinion...

  13. these posts and comments make my day each and every day!! i just come on to sit, read and laugh at the amount of nonsense that gets spoken on the hub!!! i do however always find it funny how these chats ALWAYS seem to go waaaayyyyyyyy off topic once it goes over like 3 or 4 pages!!! ps, the weather in CT is amazing today..
  14. I live just down the road and my friend lives right next door to the shop at the foot of the bridge!! From what i've heard in the past from a few regulars, the owners actually own that property and therefore do not have to pay rent etc every month, so the quwstion i always ask then is, WHY oh WHY, if they aren't paying rent, are there prices so much more than all the other bike shops in the southern suburbs area... i personally would rather ride my bike down to claremont and go into Crown or Olympic where im greeted no matter how busy the store is, made to feel WELCOME and made to feel like the guys actually WANT to help me and make me happy with the service they are providing, instead of being made to feel like all they are interested in doing is making as much money as they can out of me ASAP!!! my 1 bad experience was when i went into the shop the day before a race, just to quickly purchase a few GU sachets along with 2 carbon bottle cages and a few pairs of socks, the lady(owners wife i think) was working at the till at the time and was on the phone at the same time that she was busy with me, not bothering to find out if i needed anything more obviously,!! my stuff in my head all added up to just over R600, seeing how the lady was on the phone(quoting someone on the other side of the line for a set of cleats i think) she then rang up R1299... Obviously i corrected her teand she, just covering the mouthpiece of the phone said to me "ag thats not your total, that the total for the guy on the fone, sorry" and continued to talk to him whilst fixing my bill..... Needless to say i was disgusted, tried calling back on the monday, i was then put on hold for more than 5mins when asking to speak to "management" about bad service and rathwer just accepted the fact that Bridge Cycles are poor when it comes to customer service and satisfaction and that is exactly the reason i will rather drive or cycle that extra distance to claremont to do any dealings with regards to my bike or equipmet!!!
  15. " I JUST LOOOOOOOOVE WHEN A LOOOOOOONG, COLD BERNARD HITS THE BACK OF MY THROAT AFTER A ROUGH AND BUMPY RIDE"
  16. In that case, I think then il give it a miss for this season and just keeping riding hard and training even harder... I dont want to be cycling all alone at the back 2kms behind everyone else and on a race day it looks like a training ride as im all alone...LOL... Good luck to all though...
  17. guys what is the entry fee for the series and how does 1 go about registering?? Are there any criteria/qualifications which needs to be met?? When/if i enter the Pro series does the entry fee cover the costs to all the races or do i still have to pay entry to each race??? Sorry for tall the questions, just looking to get some feedback before i take the plunge...My best Argus time is 3:29... So how will i fit in there or will i be left in the dust??? Thanks guys
  18. in this case im DEF getting that Hydration pack from my mate and filling it up with whatever alcoholic beverages fill it up...
  19. well i've got 2 bottle holders, i think i will then ask my mate if i can borrow his hydration pack aswell, that should keep us hydrated for the ride....
  20. Thanks gwhite... So can i fill my bottles with beer or vodka???
  21. What time is Fridays ride starting?? Myself and 2 cycling team mates are going to attend, we from the Southerns, will be our 1st moonlight mass... No spandex, no need for cycling shoes either i take it?? just a casual social gathering??
  22. as i said, it was clear as day...at 1st i wasnt sure what it was, but then saw him struggling up to the top of the incline without being able to sit down....yet he still won bronze...respect
  23. How did the commentators, clearly watchin the same race as us on the tele, not manage to see when Fontana's seat post clearly broke/came out on the 1 incline??? There were numerous pictures again after that of him on his bike without a stem and saddle and yet they still didnt pick it up... What race were they watching??? The 1 comment i enjoyed from the commentators though was "even if stander doesnt medal in this race, he surely is the hero of today".....That was awesome to hear...Well done Bury
  24. Cycling to Camps Bay and back Sat morning then playing football the aftrenoon, cycling Sun morning to down main rd left at fish hoek circle, right over red hill then straight down over chappies and suikerbossie, coffee in Camps Bay and then main rd back home to plumstead and then soccer on Sun Afternoon....safe to say i will need a leg replacement shortly, but i have to cycle, wont miss out....anyone keen to join, let me know, at the moment there's just 2 of us who do these rides....
  25. Hi Guys Myself and "solly87" are fairly new to the hub..... We have been riding together for just over a year now and i have been riding for about 4 years... We live in CT and we ride together every Sat and Sun morning, i meet him in claremont and we go thru to camps bay, have coffee and then shoot back to the southern suburbs along beach road through waterfont and then from town we take the main road back home again so it makes it about 60+ kms...some mornings(if we feeling good) we cycle to town, then through to Table View along the MyCiti bus route and then back along marine drive and through to Camps Bay, and then back home the usual way, which is about 90 odd kms... My point is we are only 2 guys and are looking for more cyclists from southern suburbs who do some nice early morning rides on weekends and maybe quick 30-40km rides some week nights?? If anyone has a group and wont mind us riding with them, or would like to join us please get in touch... Thanks guys...
