  1. Awesome news! She's a bloody machine
  2. C'mon precious little Karmi... keep fighting you little champion!
  3. Too sad... my heart bleeds for this family. Can't imagine going through all this Keep fighting Karmi
  4. Agreed, but in the same breath it wasn't too lekker seeing him at joBerg2c shortly after his ban and high up in the results. I guess that's why we have the life ban options... Might feel a bit more like the battle is being won when we don't have life time dopers on Epic podiums still though as a result of loopholes
  5. Or you could visit your nearest doper... let the thread title be your guide
  6. Thoughts with our little magical fighter, so sad that she has to go through all of this
  7. As he never contested it, the nitty gritty of what was done never came out...
  8. Jail time at some point needs to become the norm... sport is professional, peoples livelihoods and careers are on the line and the bottom line is it illegal and fraud. Lock them up and suddenly there will be a lot less interest in the shortcuts and possibly quite a few people looking into alternative career paths
  9. My original point, quite simply was, that these things come and go all the time... and there is so much of it we simply can't maintain interest and outrage at it all. It's the same with road safety, it's the same with licenses, CSA, bike lanes etc... they're flavor of the week, then something else comes along. It wasn't some attack or anything, just a harmless bit of sentiment - I'm as against doping as the next guy, and it pisses me off enormously that the system is so broken (not just in the SA), but it is what it is. If you want to get offended, as it appears you are, then go ahead and knock yourself out
  10. He's still a local hero... Doping pays
  11. I hope Mourinho stays there a long time... it's comedy gold. Spurs need to win a trophy... I hope Poch takes this cup super serious - we just need to get one trophy in the cabinet and then the belief will come and more will follow.
  12. Not really opening up this whole can of worms again (I am sure there is a thread though if you want to shoot the lights out), but I do recall at the time there were some serious inconsistencies with dates and stories etc. It really didn't look good. Kev's a nice guy though who did a stupid thing - he's been through the mill since then and you can only sympathize a little, so it's good to see him back in a better place these days - but in my books he should certainly not be racing. It's just not on... and illegal. Unless the events aren't sanctioned, I'm not too clued up on the specifics?
  13. Never said that... never implied it either. But I am guessing we're a little sensitive this morning
  14. We were outraged about that a couple weeks ago... we're outraged about this now, and we'll be outraged about something else in a couple hours - just give us a moment, we've gotta find some balance between all this outrage
  15. Shame man, poor little lady Hope she gets better asap
  16. Amazing news... the wonders of nature. I'm sure things will go great
  17. Hard luck Dave, hope it's nothing major!
  18. Nice one Shaper - very nice time! I'm also struggling with my soleus - pesky bloody injury. Did a run for the first time in a while last Weds with the wife, super slow and chilled, never had any issues, but that evening after my shower it became very apparent I had pinged something. Still not feeling great today... need to get it cleared up before Run the Berg, else it's going to be a very long two days.
  19. Yeah, I'm not convinced he's done... he certainly doesn't seem to be slowing down. The 99 seconds he needs, 1 second a km get's him nearly half way, then you've got some km's where he totally slacked off and ran 2:58's etc. Better pacing could help, maybe a hint of a tailwind etc His objective this run was the world record, and he totally smashed it - I honestly believe this guys got it in him, he's made it believable, and that suddenly makes it possible. I do look forward to what his plans are
  20. Hahaha... seriously though, I could agree with sub two and maybe sub 9.3/4 or so being comparable. Sub 9 I think is probably physically impossible and the increments of improvement so small it's going to take a long time to chip away at the current mark. The increments of improvement are likely to only get smaller too. Marathon record has improved by over 2 minutes in the last decade, I certainly wouldn't bet against Kipchoge to take another 2.5 seconds/ kilometer off his time in the next few years. Don't get me wrong, the whole concept is crazy, but it suddenly almost seems feasible
  21. Dale, I honestly believe your emotions are getting in the way here... reading your post it's almost like you are talking about Colin Kaepernick (somebody who does actually deserve support and who has in fact been treated poorly by the system) - this was not discrimination, there is zero evidence to support her claims. Everything actually points to the contrary. She broke the rules, several times and the ref through the book at her as he must - that's the way it works. We're all taught from a young age to respect the ref's decision - without a neutral ref you do not have a fair contest. And she was being coached, her own coach admitted it... but she won't. I don't wonder who's lying. Did she smash her racket? Did she call the official a liar and a thief? Is this the first time? It's nothing to do with sexism or racism... the timing of this tells you everything. She's a bad sport and this is her way of deflecting from the reality that she was outplayed on her home turf ...you learn a lot more about a person when they are losing, true colours and all that. Bottom line for me, it's disgraceful what she did and she can never undo it or give back that moment to young Naomi Osaka. And she doesn't seem even remotely embarrassed or apologetic. Nope it's all about her, her pathetic little ego got battered and now it's all because of some bull discrimination and sexism in a sport that that has given her a life most people could only dream of. And how ironic you mention the little tyrant king of the USA - they're like two peas in a pod frankly, throwing all their toys out the cot when they don't get their way. If there is sexism or racism of any sort in the sport, then sure take it up - but making this poor excuse for a sportswomen the poster child for it based on her center court wobbly will do little to give it any real merit.
