    Where 2 Buy

Living in Harrismith I'd rather be mountainbiking! Buy one of each, used, for R8500....
  2. Same here. Very nicely made. Beats the pants of the 20Watt Halogen Downlight shoved into a cut off Pick and Pay torch light with the 2KG 4AH battery I keep having to duct tape to my down tube.....

    Stolen Bike

I am weary of insurance, it seems as if they ALWAYS have some or another reason not to pay. I wonder if R300 a month, ie R3600 a year over the lifespan of a bike, say 3 years, wouldn't make a nice lump sum towards replacing it down the line rather...

    Stolen Bike

I have (maybe stupidly, maybe not) never had any of my bikes insured. I have just bought one with around 30K replacement value, what could I expect to pay to have it insured? Would it be best to specify it under household insurance or do it via a company that specialises in bike insurance? Any advice would be welcome.
  6. I got an AVIS upgrade to a Forester during one work trip all over KZN...did some expremental amateur rallying on extremely wet and muddy farm roads when no one was looking and the car was AWESOME, would absolutely love to have one of my own! (which I will drive more sedately....) Any of you guys gatvol of your Forester wanting to sell it on...PM me!
  7. I have an old Judy Race with 80mm travel which you are welcome to have. It leaks oil like an old Landy yet remained surprisingly plush given it's condition and until very recently I managed to take some nice drops on my hardtail on it. I am based in Somerset West, Western Cape if you know of anyone that can pick it up for you. As mentioned it is corroded and leaks oil but its better than a kick in the shin.
  8. You didn't spend hundreds of hours mowing your lawn though!
  9. Over and above that, it's FUN working on your bike! (over and above being hugely satisfying...)
  10. JB's posts rate highly for pure entertainment value.
  11. Would you recommend Gooi-ing your Camelbak in the washing machine on a gentle / cold wash? My other half complains about a horrible smell when riding behind me....and the Camelbak ALSO has some hectic odours!

  16. I saw a guy at the Fish River canoe marathon, running while shouting at his wife who was hanging on the back of their K2 while being dragged through mud on her stomach....HAHAHA it was pretty funny but a good example of what can happen if a. The stronger party doesn't realise he wasnt going to be on the podium either way, and stop blaming the slower rider for lack of pace, and b. Take it easy and remember why you got it in the first place. Guys often forget their other halves didnt grow up ramping their BMX's with their buddies from age 6. My wife got approximately 1 inch of air over an erosion furrow on her MTB the other day and was properly STOKED! Sometimes getting them stoked is more rewarding than just always doing it for yourself. (OK this thread is going dowhill from here...)

    Bent Seatpost

I would like to salvage the current one if possible, it is a very slight bend and want to know whether anyone has had one straightened and if it is possible. No bucks after buying new bike to buy bling bits!!!
  21. I have noticed a very slight bend in my Bontrager Race Light seatpost. It's on a TREK EX8 MTB, the seatpost has not been extended to anywhere near its' maximum. I think it took a knock when one of my feet came out / off the pedal when going over a jump and I landed with most of my weight on the seat. Anyway, is there any way that it could be straightened and does anyone have any recommendations?
  22. I like to drop my seat for downhill / all mountain sessions / playing / jumping so I would prefer not to replace it with a bolt.
  23. Anyone had any experience with a Bonty QR lever bending? I tightened mine using one bare hand and bent the thing nearly double last night. Two months old and has taken no knocks that could have weakened it to date. Can anyone suggest what to replace it with, or perhaps whether these would be under guarantee? It's on a two month old TREK.
  24. WOW cycleart does AWESOME work...seems like a lot of graft for min bucks!
  25. I am sure you could have it powdercoated for much less than that and it would be way more durable.
