  1. Flow app is finally available for iPhone on the App Store now
  2. Hi - any update on the availability of the app in SA? Thank you
  3. Thanks for that awesome blast from the past!
  4. Anyone doing this?
  5. I mailed Niner about this sometime back when I wanted to upgrade a fork on my MCR and the answer was a definite no. They were unfortunately also dead set against fitting a fork with more than 100mm of travel to that frame. I still regret selling that bike!
  6. Was never a fan of red bikes but this one looks great. I’ve been toying with getting one of these frames since launch but I somehow battle with the color options - black would probably be first choice at this stage but it would be a case of the lesser of the evils for me.
  7. Happy days on the Wild Coast this Dec
  8. Mine has pretty much become my go to bike,, especially when things get muddy. Next stop 4 weeks on the Wild Coast. When I advertise it in "as new" condition for sale one day - please don't quote this post!

    Wine2Whales 2021

They were checking the Covid test results before being allowed to enter the building to pick up race packs. They also had a mobile / mini testing center on site for those who were not aware of the requirement. Given the amount of okes all over each other at the water points I was pretty happy with the idea, and it was quite lekker being in a relatively / theoretically Covid-free bubble for a couple of days.

Would be interested to hear some details on what you've done. My current rig is sitting at around 15kg's with 2.6 & 2.5 Maxxis on and I'm dreading dragging it from the Whales to the Wine!
  11. Gears ..... too steep where I do most of my riding, even a 32 x 42 leaves me wanting more on one of the climbs
  12. Been riding mine with a 140 Fox 34 and it’s perfect, would not want any less.

  14. Same here, perfect with 50mm stem. At 196 the sizing chart on the website puts you solidly on XL. https://momsenbikes.com/shop/frames-steel-29/frame-momsen-str29-2018-green/

    Momsen steel

Mine was meant to be a second bike to bugger aroid on but ended up being my go-to steed and getting used properly, most of my riding at Helderberg Farm which only has two types of trails .... steep up and fast down. The frame does not seem as compliant as the 853 Niner I had before but I spoilt myself with a 140mm Fox 34 and 2.35 tyres and it handles most things with aplomb .... but when I come down the same trails on the dually you just realize how much work that suspension really is doing behind the scenes. I find my times down the mountain isn’t a lot slower on the STR ... but I’m definitely more knackered at the end of it.

  18. Hi Wian, I spoke to you yesterday about your frame / build ... you need to get advice from someone that knows what's up or you are going to buy equipment you can't use. For the Fuel Ex8 (I think you said 2018) you most likely need a boost 29er wheelset, boost spacing fork 130 - 140mm etc. Steerer tube length of the fork is important as well. Depending on the hubs of the wheelset you may be able to get away with non-boost by fitting adaptors but you may as well get the right equipment off the bat. There are a lot of very knowledgeable and helpful people on BIkehub and some good deals to be had if you know what you are looking for ... just make sure you are well informed else you'll end up with kit you can't use. Important to know what you can or are willing to spend as well. Maybe start a thread "Help me build my 2018 Trek Fuel Ex 8" ... you might get this thing built quicker than you thought. Good luck.
  19. I don't know much about monstercross bikes but this frame with that rigid fork could be a good start. Happy to keep the Rockshox if anyone's interested in the rest. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/409166/niner-mcr-rolling-chassis
  20. Helderberg trails on Sat. Bit of a battle getting up some of those sections with a 32 x 34. Huge fun descending with the bike feeling solid and more than capable on the steeps and rock gardens. Not near as comfortable but not much slower than the dually on most sections either. Looking forward to some new rubber once I've made up my mind on what to get.
  21. This thread is battling to gain traction
  22. Ya I need a fatter tyre to create a bit of cushioning at the back end, these hardtails deliver a hammering when you've become soft and lazy riding duallies and used to the speeds they allow you to carry through the rough.
