I mailed Niner about this sometime back when I wanted to upgrade a fork on my MCR and the answer was a definite no. They were unfortunately also dead set against fitting a fork with more than 100mm of travel to that frame. I still regret selling that bike!

Was never a fan of red bikes but this one looks great. I’ve been toying with getting one of these frames since launch but I somehow battle with the color options - black would probably be first choice at this stage but it would be a case of the lesser of the evils for me.

Mine has pretty much become my go to bike,, especially when things get muddy. Next stop 4 weeks on the Wild Coast. When I advertise it in "as new" condition for sale one day - please don't quote this post!

They were checking the Covid test results before being allowed to enter the building to pick up race packs. They also had a mobile / mini testing center on site for those who were not aware of the requirement. Given the amount of okes all over each other at the water points I was pretty happy with the idea, and it was quite lekker being in a relatively / theoretically Covid-free bubble for a couple of days.

Would be interested to hear some details on what you've done. My current rig is sitting at around 15kg's with 2.6 & 2.5 Maxxis on and I'm dreading dragging it from the Whales to the Wine!

Gears ..... too steep where I do most of my riding, even a 32 x 42 leaves me wanting more on one of the climbs

Been riding mine with a 140 Fox 34 and it’s perfect, would not want any less.

Helderberg trails on Sat. Bit of a battle getting up some of those sections with a 32 x 34. Huge fun descending with the bike feeling solid and more than capable on the steeps and rock gardens. Not near as comfortable but not much slower than the dually on most sections either. Looking forward to some new rubber once I've made up my mind on what to get.

Ya I need a fatter tyre to create a bit of cushioning at the back end, these hardtails deliver a hammering when you've become soft and lazy riding duallies and used to the speeds they allow you to carry through the rough.

I present to you: The Snozzcumber Momsen STR frame, Fox 34 fork, Lyne 780 bars and 50mm stem and the rest some old XT kit and ZTR wheelset and some ancient tyres pirated off my Niner MCR ... I think these wheels are still from my On One Inbred SS from many moons ago and this is the 4th bike they're on with no hassles whatsoever so they've done well. The frame arrived with a weird mat finish which had a strange feel to it and I wasn't sure I liked so I used some rubbing compound and polish and gave it a bit of a gloss look .. it was an improvement in my opinion. I still need to change tyres and I'm sure the itch after that will extend to the groupset and brakes ... maybe a dropper. Not sure if I'll go all out on this one as it's meant to be a second bike to muck about with but you know how it goes .... Tyre clearance at the back is pretty tight but I'm sure it'll fit a modest 2.3, the fork is unbelievable and has a relatively short axle to crown height for the travel so does not seem to throw the geometry out ... had a decent time coming down Helderberg Trails this evening so all in all I am very happy!
