  1. How awesome are the riders in the photo!!???
  2. Difference being that you don't drive in the middle of the road obstructing traffic at 30 kays an hour. It's your life, do what you want, best you hope you don't get mowed down by a taxi or a redneck in a truck.

    eBay buying

I've been looking around for a good deal on a singlespeed 29er but battling to find anything....I don't think 29ers have been popular around here for long enough for much choice to be available 2nd hand at this stage. On ebay not that many sellers willing to deal with international buyers and shipping costs seem to be crazy on bikes from the States to RSA...maybe someone can tell me or recommend a cheaper freight option?

    eBay buying

Anyone got any info on whether you would pay import duty on a second hand bike bought off ebay?
  5. That On One would be my choice for SS Rigid but in all mountain guise....Chumba it up, my good man!!!
  6. Any idea who stocks the Bianchi SOK 29er?
  7. Serious dose of Q20 and try again. Else drill out the bolts taking care to stop drilling before you destroy the base plate.
  8. I haven't tried the others but the using the IDT with a MTB wheel with a slick on it makes one hell of a racket so much so that you can either not hear your telly or you drive everyone around you nuts by turning it up too much. I'd go for the spinning bike.
  9. Tim Turtle nice setup. I tried to pm you before my last trip to JHB to bring you those books but your inbox was full. Will stay in touch or maybe just mail the darn things....
  10. Smiles all round. What weight did the Shova come in at?
  11. Awesome....this a replacement for the Mbuzi? Let me know when you feel it is time to say goodbye to this beauty...
  12. https://www.bikehub.co.za/printer_friendly_posts.asp?TID=47030 Did a bit of a search and think I answered my own question.
  13. Bit off topic Crow but why did you decide to go for the Mbuzi rather than a Shova ST? Rode the ST this past weekend and it's more machine than I will ever be able to break!
  14. Rode both the Anthem X2and Trance X2 this last weekend...both were awesome but depending on the type of riding you do, I would definitely consider the Trance before the Anthem, especially if like you say you enjoy hammering the downhills and technical stuff. More travel, more comfortably riding position, yet light enough for XC.
  15. I don't even like DRIVING that road. You've lost your mind.
  16. Which route would you follow to avoid riding on the N2?
  17. 1987 was the year. Superspeed Ultralight from PnP Hypermarket...R499.99. Let me assure you it was neither speedy nor light. Spent ALL my pocket money "customizing" it...lumo green bar tape, lumo green seat cover, lumo green saddle bag, lumo green toeclip straps. My mate and I bought matching everything from matching Topsport helmets to socks. Good times of note.

Picked up a Park Cassette remover for 105 bucks and a BBB chainwhip for R165 yesterday. You can get cheaper cassette removers for around 65 bucks or so but for 40 bucks difference I thought I may as well get something that's been known to work. Funny enough the BBB chainwhip at 165 looked way nicer and has a decent grip compared to the Park one which is around R220.
  19. I replaced my Avid Juicy 5 pads with some Alligator generics (R125 per set vs R230 per set) and performance has been fine. No shudder, fade etc detected.
  20. I broke a Bontrager Race Light seat clamp QR lever in half and I was definitely not using a hell of a lot of force. Also manager to bend the Bonty Race Light seat post. Replaced with Thompson and Hope....never looked back. I think my point is go for strength where it matters on your bike.
  21. OK guys thanks for all the replies Big H - it would be even numbers ---32 x 18 or 32 x 16 Brad - what width chains do you have? It would have to be linked into an old seven speed chain...not sure how wide that is.
  22. Sorry this is what I am referring to, not a Powerlink. http://rebscontraptions.blogspot.com/2009/03/half-link-vs-chain-tensioner.html
  23. Anyone here know who in the Cape may have half links in stock or may be able to supply them? I have been checking out a few sites on the net and am keen to give using a half-link a go rather than using a chain tensioner for a SS conversion. Has anyone had any experience in using them and can it be recommended? Thanks in advance
  24. Nice one Zaskar, Shot for the spreadsheet.
  25. Makes sense...forget I asked.... Maybe I should get back to work rather than sit here thinking up *** questions which I haven't thought through properly.
