  1. Picked up the latest model Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Really fun bike and love the sound of the triple. Coming off sports bikes it is a much more relaxing ride, doing my first dirt riding course next weekend which should be an eye opener
  2. I tend to agree, I have always worked on the 5 year rule (but never had a set of tyres come close to that old). Tyres degrade with age so I am certain you will feel the difference and be much better off on a fresh set of rubber
  3. Cool, I am out of town the next two weeks but will swing by towards the end of the month
  4. This could be an interesting option, never seen one in the flesh. Can't beat the sound on a Ducati
  5. Yes, always a draw back. I am in Sandton, so not far from that dealership. Also had an Aprilia with a total of zero dealerships, so know the challenges of more niche brands Have read some reports saying the Africa Twin is a bit tame and can be a boring ride. Guess only a test ride will prove if thats true
  6. No haven't looked at F900GS, will check it out. The draw for the triumph is the triple motor, like something with a bit of character
  7. I am in the market for an Adventure bike, looking at the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro and Honda Africa Twin 1100. Does anyone have an input/ pros or cons on the above or any other options to add into the mix. Wanting the bike to do a few weekend trips along the roads less travelled like ET, Lesotho etc
  8. Can anyone recommend a good running club close to Lonehill in Jhb? I used to run a fair bit, but mostly because triathlon forced me to. Got an itch to run again and think joining a club might be the nudge that I need to get going and stay consistent
  9. Where can I get a torque wrenche calibrated in JHB?
  10. I am starting to look around for an adventure bike for the occasional longer trip, weekend ride to Harties and general around town use. Been looking at used KTM 1090/Triumph Tiger 1200/GS 1200/Super Tenere, does anyone have input of benefits/drawback other suggestions? I am only 5.8" so been able to touch the ground is an important consideration
  11. That's a very cool idea, I have been spending far too many hours googling what is possible and it seems with the right amount of attention to detail on the CAD design and staying within the machines dimensions there are endless things that can be created
  12. Thanks, I am planning to do 3D contours to create inlays for boxes (names, shapes etc) I have started doing some research and hope to run some basic 2d patterns this weekend all being well, will definitely pop in here with some feedback on learnings as I go down the rabbit hole
  13. Does anyone have any experience with a Zenbot Router cnc? I have recently inherited a full workshop and this was one of the newer tools my dad got and I never learnt how to use it. It runs on Mach3 and V-Carve Pro software, lots of material online but hope someone has any useful tips before I go too far down a rabbit hole
  14. No worries, look forward to seeing the pics
  15. Any luck finding the plane? Would be interested to see what we can work out
  16. Perfect, thanks
  17. I am potentially interested, let me know how much you want for it?
  18. Anymore details on what happened, time of day etc? Not far from my regular route
  19. I have inherited all the tools from my dad's workshop, which i have had in storage for the last year or so and planning on getting them out and setting up my own workshop at home in the next week or so. I learnt a lot from him, but wondering if there are any wood work classes in the Joburg area? Specifically looking for some guidance on the lathe and 3d router if possible, plus any other trick and tips to make sure I can create some nice outputs while keeping all my fingers
  20. Thanks guys, will give the bearing reset and hopefully that resolves it. Is there anywhere in JHB that services lefty's or is it still a case of sending down to Ominco?
  21. Hi guys, I have a 2018 Scalpel with a Lefty 2.0 on it. The bike has been hanging in the garage for a while and when I took it for a ride yesterday it seems like the fork is softer than I would expect. I can compress it to the stop just by bouncing it. It also seems the travel doesn't cover the full length of the stanchion. Any ideas what's up and where in JHB I can get it serviced?
  22. Quick one, I know solo riding is a risk but what the trials/dirt roads through Glenferness/Helderfontein/Blue Hills like from a safety perspective if I am riding solo?
  23. Does anyone know if Pro-bolt has an agent in SA or will I need to import? Looking for replacement bolts for my R1 race bike
  24. Ok cool thanks, so other side compared to Lone Hill. Any one know some back roads, ie not Witkoppen, that would go from Lone Hill to Kipling?
  25. Where do you access the trails? Checked the webpage and couldn't quite make it out I am moving to Lonehill so would be a great ride from home option
