Somewhat back to the topic, it seems its not just an experience shared here on LeHub, there's a similar thread on the Wild Dog forum. Maybe it's not a cycling thing, but a human thing. I dunno... If people just treated each other as they would like their sons/daughters be treated, I guess we might get somewhere.

In keeping with the deterioration of all things related to LeHub... here's a proper thread hi-jack: I see a certain wood collector is proudly stating on his socials that he is participating in this year's Absa Cape Epic. Since when is the Epic a Bring and Braai?

Hi hubbers, Does anyone know if the replacement soft straps for these hrm are still available? I have 2 of these hrms, they are bulletproof, except for the straps that’s now losing their elasticity. I see on Garmin’s website they only have the small version available, that’s no good for my round figure.

also note the route chang from last year where they went around the Hoogland on the R356. and he got lost last night, I have a feeling he can expect a penalty as he went off course and didnt rejoin the course where he left it.

Yes, fomo is real. I watched the race briefing on Tuesday, and Alex said that that section over the Hoogland will never be omitted again. For me that section was ok, except for the dry riverbeds and the sand towards the end of it.

For those wondering, last year the route from Fraserburg followed the R356 around the Karoo Hoogland. This year it has reverted to going over the Hoogland, a lunar landscape scattered with plenty of rocks and sand and a spooky abandoned shepherd's hut at the highest point on the Hoogland. Then it's back down the stony hell and you start crossing dry riverbeds before rejoining the R356. So the course record is safe for a while I reckon.

Headwind, okes probably taking a break. That stretch after Britstown is in terrible condition according to Erik Vermeulen.

Maybe he is finally taking a break, seems he hasn't stopped much to date. WP6 would be Pampoenpoort, traditionally a great stop. It's not strange for Ambo's to be stationed at waterpoints, so I would bet that he is probably just taking a breather.

News on the course is that there's been a block headwind from the gun. 🤕

She didn't go into details, but it probably was a crash. I can only assume it involved an aardvark hole if I look at her tracking, that section is known to have plenty of aardvark holes. This is only my assumption.

She went to the hospital earlier.
