  1. Obviously…
  2. I must be mistaken…
  3. What about the carbon wheels?
  4. There you go...
  5. Thats if they dismount and not just ride up to the table… 😛
  6. Imagine everybody's hero Nino having a technical and then having to battle through the field, only to get stuck at the bottom of a climb behind that crowd because Oom Kallie or Tannie Marie don't have the basic skills to ride up a climb.
  7. When we see runners queue like this at the Comrades to go up a hill, I will concede to your point bruuu
  8. If "Sparklewatts" married me like I asked her, her performances would never have dropped off like it has been doing. In stead she chose to block me on Insta... 😛
  9. You have participated? You are my hero... Did you possibly know my good friend Alex (aka Camelman) who was the mastermind behind the Amageza series?
  10. I agree, I also stay away from mass participation events because I saw the same thing happen (for example) at CTCT MTB Event when it was still held at Murati and surrounds. Some tannie getting off her bike to push it over a rock on the 60km route, or someone too scared to ride along the steep drop-off you can see them visibly shaking and peeing their bibshorts. People wanting to do a ride for which they clearly don't have the necessary skillset. But I guess it's all in the name of inclusion and not discriminating on the basis of not having the requisite qualities (hey?!). That begs the question I suppose, how do you deal with it (if at all)? Do you put in place a qualifying event of some kind? Points bases system with minimum requirements needed for entry? If this is a UCI event surely that would be considered to be within reason? I mean you don't see okes rocking up at the Dakar for example without having done a similar event to qualify their desire to participate in a pinacle event. But, then you stand to lose the many hundreds of entries who come here for the "Untamed" experience, but seeing as how it is being watered down (sorry for the pun) sometimes, it's a bit like tourists coming to Africa to see lions in a cage. I don't know, maybe that's just me... On a sidenote, I had to laugh at the interviewer today asking about the rider's experiences "up here in the African Wild" (3h20 of YT feed)... I mean, really? haha
  11. And potentially resulting in missing time cuts etc?
  12. I hear you. Its difficult enough to get my family together for a braai, let alone organise an event. Respect. Edit: organise an event for a couple hundred wannabe Nino’s… 😜
  13. Unless you are a famous wood collector Chris, then booking venues are a breeze 😜
  14. The Boss. 👨🏻‍🦱
  15. Im on my way to Val de Vie to watch them come in…
  16. Speaking of Gerald, who won today? I was hammered by 11 because of my new drinking game. Its gonna be a long week, I’ll need to get a case of Quervo or switch over to something else.
  17. I propose a drinking game: take a shot every time Gerald says “Absa Cape Epic”.
  18. Best bang for buck upgrade in my opinion. Had a set on my hardtail (non boost) and now have a set on my DS (boost). I have had zero issues and this after a year of riding, including Munga 2022. Best of all, the freebodies are very affordable if you need to change it.
  19. Rapide extender: i had it on my previous bike and once dialled in it worked flawlessly. Contact Wayne, he is a legend and his service is great!
  20. Strava Flyby help om die roete en timing te retrace. Die fotos wat ek geneem het en die videos wat ek geskiet het help ook om my memory te refresh. Die “hi’s and low’s” is nog redelik vasgevang in my geheue. Ek is besig met ‘n rowwe draft van die volgende seksie, al wat ek kan sê is dat die volgende 2 dae se mental battles heelwat taaier was. 🙂
  21. https://tieniemaree.blogspot.com/2023/02/3-rv2-britstown-to-rv3-loxton.html The next one is up, it was painful to write...
  22. Yes, but… Morocco! Thanks Shebeen, ja i am aware of the Freedom circuit but I’d love to see some of Morocco, looks a beautiful country! My local barber is from Morocco and he could not contain himself when we chatted about his country. So ja, let’s see what the future holds.
  23. O ja. Been watching AMR with interest, very keen to give that a go at some point, that is a proper self supported race and the entry fee is a fraction of Munga but the peripheral expenses will be quite substantial I reckon. Maybe in 2024… 🙈
