  2. Die selfde ding as 'n handle-bar, maar met byt / tand merke nadat die 30-34's Sondag vir my in my moer ry smileys/smiley11.gifsmileys/smiley5.gif smileys/smiley36.gif
  3. Can you imagine the poor pom dealing with Marius and his Afrikaans accent? "yes I are wearing a lycra pant wiff my mtb socks, and if you don't sort this k*k out now, I will throw you wiff dis fone ok??" smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
  4. Need a team mate? I refuse to team up with Marius, he takes his mtb racing far to serious for my liking smileys/smiley2.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
  5. How do you traverse the dreaded Pinelands section? My only worry is from the end of Koeberg rd to Rondebosch common.
  6. Thanks linnega! I didn't think about leaving trousers and shoes in the office during the week. Makes good sense. Some days I need a long sleeve shirt, other days I should hopefully be able to get away with a collared gholf shirt! I suppose the same is for your toiletry bag. Just leave soap / shampoo / deo at the office..
  7. I just hate sitting in traffic watching the cyclists come zooming past. I suspect it will take me the same time on the bike as it will in the car. I have all the kit for wet weather riding in case it rains, and facilities to shower...so why not? smileys/smiley2.gif Oh and its part of my quest to shed another 8kg's!
  8. Here's the scenario... we recently moved in to a new office park, and in a week or two the gym will be fully functional with shower facilities. I live 30km's from work, so I want to start commuting to work. It's 60km's training a day, 300km's a week!! I have a spare bike I don't really care that much about (runs 10yr old 8spd Campy Chorus) that I'm going to use (just in case someone feels the need to 'redistribute' my property). My question, how do I pack my office shirt and pants so they don't crinkle? I'll be using a K-Way 33l daypack (nice and waterproof and sits comfortably on my back). Any other commuting tips?
  9. Outriders have access to the Velodrome Wednesday nights 7:30 to 9:30pm. It's a structured training session done by Jaco Scholtz. If you want to give track a try, you can use one of the developement bikes. Just bring your own pedals. pm me if you want the details.
  10. Marius: due to limited budget I just put SRAM X.7 shifters and rear mech on my bike, and must say it's been a pleasure!! Front I use a universal mount black Deore mech and chain and cluster is SRAM. Only had to have it adjusted once since the bike was built in December, when the cables stretched in.
  11. I take it to my LBS and let them worry about it smileys/smiley2.gif
  12. Pay your LBS for a decent service to do it smileys/smiley2.gif
  13. If I had the money it would go to a set of Zipp 404 Clydesdales (because very few other deepsection wheels will carry my weight)... Except maybe Reynolds Stratus DV Cross (yes, the cyclocross rim)... Need to ask the boss for a raise smileys/smiley11.gifsmileys/smiley5.gif
  14. The reviews on the web I find all claim they're best run at 140psi, so I'll try that. I'm a heavyweight, clocking in at around 95-96kg's (depending on what was for lunch smileys/smiley36.gif) so what BikeMax said makes sense. Anything higher will rattle my teeth from their sockets!! smileys/smiley5.gif
  15. I'm just going there to enjoy the route (and then for the braai at WW afterwards).. Not planning on racing it at all. Last year I fell in love with the Karoo desolation, especially the old abandoned train stations etc you passed. Just something about the ride that made it fantastic smileys/smiley9.gif
  16. Yeah I was thinking maybe 9bar max. With the SLR carbonio saddle, and XTR seatpost (yes I know its a roadbike you pedants, but I needed something light AND strong), there isn't a whole lot of give smileys/smiley5.gifsmileys/smiley5.gif You coming to do the Hexrivier MTB BikeMax? It's one of the most stunning rides I did last year, and well worth the time and effort to get there!!
  17. Ok, so team mate of mine and ANDRE L buys new bike. Comes with Vredestein Fortezza's. He takes them off claiming "I only ride Conti GP 3000's" blah blah... So now I have a brand new set of tyres. The Fortezza's claim to be able to take 11bar. How safe is this for a clincher? Going to be mounting them on a set of Campy Vento's....
  18. I'm still waiting for my set!! smileys/smiley19.gif smileys/smiley19.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
  19. The frame they get for free from their sponsor?? smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley2.gif
  20. Maxxis Detonator...around R80 or R90. Just don't ride them in the wet, they don't stick at all smileys/smiley36.gif
