  8. My first K2C. My first MTB Challenge ever. What an experience! After being very nervous the week before, all of that disappeared when the gun went off. I was pedalling at a comfortable pace , chatting to the all around me, cracking a few jokes. Riding through the houses, people cheering us on " hou bene hou!" and " kyk die mense smile, hulle het seker vir Japan geskreeu gisteraand" I thought to myself, Micky , vandag sal jy klaarmaak! Pushing the bike up that first hill was a bit disappointing, my calves hurting...... And then we went DOWN... fast...... flippen scary! Keeping to the left there was a lady behind me. We were both maar lekker bang gat when it came to downhills. The guys were flying past us. Then I heard an "UGHHH....doef!" and just saw feet flying over my head. Some guy crashed into her and she came flying past me. Lying there, she looked up at me and I asked her if she was ok. Her arm had a deep gash and she was in shock! Blood everywhere. I phoned the emergency number and sat with her waiting for the medics. As for the rider crashing into her ........ not even a sorry, or a "are you ok?". He got up , and left. @sshole nr 1. I kept screaming to all that came past to slow down. Then another guy smashed into me. He went down, giving mother earth a oopbek soen met tong and once again no "sorry or Is jy ok?" @sshole nr 2. Luckily my bike was ok. I left her with the medics and started a slow decent down the mountain. After that ordeal I just pulled myself together and pedalled through "berge en dale" taking in all that mother nature had to offer. Loved the Knysna Bos sounds. Birds, monkeys and then the huffing and puffing of a few wheelsuckers I eventually left behind Going up Simola Hill, I was searching for the km signs to go. Almost there! Then down Simola on the tar road the roadie in me came out, trying to make up some of the time I lost , I was passing almost 20 riders. My legs felt ok, going under the bridge, and UP THE STAIRS WITH MY BIKE ON MY SHOULDER Was very grateful that there was no wind on that last km to the finish as I went over the finish line at 6:53. Will I be back next year? Hell yes! As for @sshole nr 1 and 2 , ek hoop julle het krampe in plekke gekry wat ek nie mag noem nie. See you next year K2C!
