  1. Not sure if I should envy Vettes or have simpathy. Congrats and good luck with the training! Remember to give the rest of us that is too chicken to do this event regular updates!
  2. Actually a valid point with us older guys. Got a puncture last week, sealant spraying all over. Had a pump, bombs and plugs. Problem was I couldn't see where to plug the puncture! Had to phone the wife
  3. 56666. Big guy on a Anthem.
  4. Relax, he's just a bit jittery before the big race. Hope you both have a great day out there! And Carb. If the crack the sub three, I will buy you a beer/coke whatever. Around three 'o clock. Cos that's when I plan to finish!
  5. Are some of you later starters considering taking Camelbacks along in case waterpoints run dry the afternoon? (I know the early starters would never consider it and normally have a two bottle and no stops strategy) I normally fill my two bottles up twice on route.
  6. Hi Walter Hope all is going well with the planning. I can seriously recommend this to fellow hubbers. Should be a fun day out. Regards Martin

  8. First got 14, but after Miles helped us review our mathematics, got 10 as well
  9. Spot on. As always, your arguments are well formulated, to the point and with a tiny bit of sarcasm. Was just making a observation about the wind. The guys that start early worked their asses off for their position and deserve it, nothing discriminatory about that.
  10. Always interesting how most people disregard the fact that wind normally picks up during the day. Guys that race from 6-9 normally have less wind to deal with. Us guys that ride from 9-2 face more wind, have more wind resistance and stay on the road longer. That's my excuse anyway.
  11. Not sure about this particular instance, but unfortunately there are lots of examples. Brucellosis, Tuberculosis, Leptospirosis, Bird and Swine Flu. The list goes on.
  12. Jippieee I got notice of 6 more just now. Some of them going back to October 2011. This is getting ridiculous.
  13. That is one option. Nearest SARS office is 150 km from me. Other is to upload the information you think is relevant to the e-filing website and \wait for their response. Normally they then respond by requesting additional information, without specifying what.
  14. The frustrating bit is that none of my future claims will the paid out until the said 9 queries is resolved.
  15. Here's my story. Would appreciate any input. Been e-filing the farms VAT returns for a number of years now. Normally the procedure is as follows. When you submit a return that deviates from your normal claim history you get notice that you should upload supporting documents. This usually means the detail (e.g. Pastel summary and 5 biggest invoices) Then you get audited and sometimes someone phones you with questions. (Always very professional) If everything is in order the claim gets paid out, otherwise they advise you on how to correct and resubmit. Here's where the story gets funny. On the 15th of last month I got 9 simultaneous emails of pending SARS correspondence. Turns out they want supporting documents of 9 previous 2 month periods that has already been paid out. Two of those periods they already requested supporting documents when I submitted them about two years ago. I complied and claims was then paid out. When calling the helpline you only get reminded that it is SARS legal right to audit you anytime for any number of periods over a 5 year history. I took all the filed documents of the relevant periods out of storage and stacked it. The pile was 1.2 meters tall. Is this fair?
  16. I also respect this guys for the lack of suspension. Back to the farmers. I confess. I may be one of them. While you may be having a holiday the locals still need to make a living. . Compare it to your drive to work. There is always an asshole somewhere. Keep to the side of the road. And a little wave here and there when a bakkie passes you in an orderly manner goes a long way.
  17. Nice one. Vermaaklikheid used to have a great seafood restaurant. The owner literally caught the fish the morning and served it the evening in his restaurant. Was a local hotspot till it closed. Unfortunately not enough customers in the area to make it worth their while. A couple of friends and I still have a yearly ride from Heidelberg to Jongensfontein via Vermaaklikheid. Nice rolling district roads for us not so technically orientated fatties.
  18. One more on other side of the hill.
  19. Morning ride from my house to Amandelbos and back. Those who have done the Al2Hez may recognize the scenery.
  20. Something weird going on with confirmation e-mails and where to pay e-mails. Keep checking my spam folder and haven't received anything. However used the link and paid. So I guess it is save to say I secured an entry.
  21. Can be a number of causes. Better get a electrician to check that you house is properly earthed first. Can be anything from corroded earth wire, seepage from underground cable or said element.
  22. As usual it should be moderate to strong breeze of between 10 - 80 km/h
  23. Jip. Like clockwork. At least once a year. (Just kidding Roux. Kudo's for staying loyal to the brand)
  24. Starting to think that you are a serial frame cracker Dalk bietjie rof ?
