  1. I've gone and looked and this is what I have found: 727 teams were registered; I can't see how many actually started 710 teams finished the prologue 659 teams finished stage 1 599 teams finished stage 2 So possibly 128 teams have not finished after 3 days. I didn't check individual finishers, so I don't know how many teams have both riders out.
  2. There is no women's record. That is why she is doing it. "Because // Representation matters // In sport, especially cycling, women are underrepresented and it slows down our progress in getting new women into the sport. Because it’s harder to do something if you don’t see people you can relate to also doing it. " https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ch1hL1WqQAN/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link 70 days is the time that Guinness gave her; I don't know how they came up with that; maybe about 150km per day She plans to do 200 - 300km a day, so i suppose she wants to beat 54 days.
  3. Tegan will be starting on 17th October, next Monday. She is in Egypt already. She has to complete it in under 70 days for Guinness to consider it a World Record.
  4. Frances Janse van Rensberg pulled out of TdF after 3 days. She then went to hospital and had surgery, and has returned to SA for the rest of the season, so wont be at Commonwealth games Ashley pulled out of TdF with an infection after 6? days. I expect she isn't recovered yet. She has skipped the TT before to focus on the Road Race, but I don't know if she will be even be ready for that. Hayley Preen was at the opening ceremony. Maybe she is skipping the TT and will only do the Road Race.
  5. Candice has gone into second. She looks comfortable. Isla and Zoe look tired.
  6. In the women's race, Evie is absolutely dominating. Only a major mechanical will stop her from winning. Isla Short seems to be fading. Candice Lill is in fourth, and Im not sure how she's doing. She seems to be dropping off. Zoe Cuthbert I believe is better than I gave her credit for, and I think she might come second. After that I don't think anyone else has a chance of getting a medal
  7. Mariske tested positive for Covid, just before she was supposed to fly out, so she couldn't go.
  8. That hill got me in 2013. My whole right-hand side was scraped, and i I couldn't straighten my arm for 3 months. I also broke a saddle that was only 6 weeks old

    Munga 2021

Brian Brummer has just arrived at RV3 now. Kevin has been there for an hour. After last years Munga he said, "I learnt that with a little more sleep I am actually quite fast", so maybe his plan is to sleep a bit, and then ride faster and catch up with Hansie.

    Munga 2021

Hansie Joubert and Kevin Benkenstein are both at RV3. Kevin got there 5 minutes earlier.
  11. Take a gravel bike, there are so many more options if you have a gravel bike. I have avoided trying to ride up Old Howick Road since they started the road works on the highway, because I'm sure the amount of vehicles has increased dramatically. Old Howick and Sweetwaters Roads are really the only options to get from PMB to Hilton. You can go up through the forests, from The Wykeham Collegiate, through World's View, up into Winterskloof, but the quality of the forest roads is not good at all (At least the last time I tried it) You can also go up past Albert Falls Dam, and then up the Crammond Road, to the Karkloof Club, but that is a very long way around, if you're just trying to get to Hilton. I've found that following Kevin Benkenstein on Strava gives me lots of ideas about where to ride around the Midlands: https://www.strava.com/athletes/1528061 Here is a loop through Bisley Reserve, that I did a few weeks ago: https://www.strava.com/activities/5946127486 (I got this one from Kevin's rides ) You can cut out the part along Old Howick Road. You could also ride parts of the Burra500 route: https://www.strava.com/activities/5826823035
  12. Perhaps he doesn't appreciate mid-90's Metallica, 80's Metallica was better.

    The Munga 2020

On the Munga Facebook page they said riders will be issued with permits. While the Munga Grit rules had this: "Where two riders cross the line at the same time and be eligible for a prize, the race director will decide the method to determine in which order the riders place.", the Munga rules don't have anything about that. Although the Munga rules still have the prize money values based on November 2019 prices, so I don't think they have been updated on the site yet, but updated rules may have been sent to competitors.
