  1. You posted a picture last week of nike shoes that you had run a pb in. Are those the Zoom Fly ? If so I saw them at the Nike factory store in Boksburg for R1399.
  2. It's not handheld but I bought this running belt at the comrades expo last year which has a slit on the side to fit a bottle. Energade or valpre bottles fit best for me and don't slip out. http://runbagsa.co.za/duo.html
  3. Managed to improve my time by 16 minutes compared to last years tough one. Could have been a bit quicker but started near the back and those first 2km was all about trying to get through the masses . Forgot how tough the second half was but still managed a negative split
  4. Thank you for the feedback . How is there sizing ? My nikes and adidas i use a size 10 . Do they compare to that.
  5. Anyone have any feedback , good or bad , with the Saucony Triumph ISO 4 ? Time for new shoes and I might as well take advantage of these sales.
  6. I will be there . Did my first my one last year , so just hoping to improve on my time this time around.
  7. Hey Scott , yes , nice meeting you . Had a pretty enjoyable day out , a nice change from the usual road running . Was aiming for a sub 2 but finished with a 02h06 , most probably took the first half a bit to easy. Your water table couldn't have come at a better time , it was a scorcher of a day.
  8. Hi Frosty What time do the kiddies rides (1km, 6km, 12km) start on saturday ?
  9. Let's see if there are any major changes
  10. The Brazilians have moves. Saw a lot of them out on the route. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
  11. There was, something like 200 + runners from Benoni Northerns Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
  12. I don't know what was more upsetting, the fact that it wouldn't record it on strava or to be able to check my pace. A manual entry had to do on strava [emoji85] Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
  13. My first comrades and if I had to describe it in one word it would be..... BRUTAL. Got thrown a curve ball the Saturday night when I realised I bought the wrong charger with and couldn't charge my Garmin which was completely flat. Ended up using a chuck norris GPS(analogue watch) just so I could know what time of day it was and make it before 17h30. Started off hoping for a sub 11 but when a sub 11h30 bus came steaming past me early on I was doubting it. Heard a lot of people saying it was going way to fast and it was more like sub 11 so still had some hope then, but as the day went on I realised it wasn't going to happen and settled for a finish. Came in with a 11h39. I knew it was going to be tough but don't think I realised just how tough it really was. It was a real eye opener and a humbling experience. Those last 25km I just had to grit my teeth and run(and a lot of walking) through the pain. It being my first I can't compare the finish venues but I enjoyed running through the tunnel into the stadium and bright lights with quite a big crowd in the stands. Even managed to get on tv crossing the finish line. They could have made it easier to get to our allocated seats in the stands instead of making us walk another few km's (that's what it felt like). Overall I enjoyed the whole experience, the crowd support was unbelievable and definitely helped. Im not a comrades novice anymore! Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
  14. That will be me on Sunday, but even earlier than that. Will be catching a bus leaving from Amanzimtoti AC at 02h30am
  15. I'm still working tomorrow and can't wait , will be driving down Friday morning early. I'm looking forward to the fact that I will be on leave for a week even though I will most probably be in pain most of the time. My number is 6849
  16. Tomorrow will be my last midweek early morning(04h00) run . It couldn't come any sooner as its really been a struggle these last couple of weeks. Strangely enough the nerves haven't started yet , next week i'm sure will be a different story.
  17. Allergex non drowsy maybe. I know the normal one makes me really drowsy but have never used the non drowsy one so can't say if it works or not. Its the first thing that came to mind because of the radio ad that was constantly played.
  18. Well done shaper ! How did your iron man go Scott ?
  19. I also picked up something from the little ones , haven't been able to run this whole week.
  20. Did Irene yesterday with the plan to use it as a long slow training run. Managed to get through those first few km in the dark without incident. Had a good run through out even though those last 15km were pretty tough with a few climbs to manage. Ended with a 05h20 which I was happy with considering it was my first ultra. Just need to remember to put vaseline around my armpit area, chaffed a bit but rubbed some sudo cream on and it's all good. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
  21. Im on 814km , as its my first i'm just going for a finish but if i can get under 11 hours i would be very happy . Will see what happens on the day...
  22. So who is doing which ultra in March and April? No ultra for me in March but will be doing the Goldi Standerton Marathon on the 21st. April I'm doing Irene ultra and then the Robor ultra. Won't be "racing" any of them just using them as long training runs. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
